This is what was inside the packaging. Then you open this and the large box is inside. I can take more pictures later tonight if people would like to see.

I think I'll try and be patient for a Unicorn re-release as some of the volumes are around £70. Bit expensive to buy all 7 at once.

Yes please. :p

FYI, I posted this in the Gundam thread, but if anyone is interested in volumes of Gundam Unicorn for cheaper - JP Books just off Piccadilly Circus sells them for around £27 each.

Thanks! Although I don't fancy travelling to London for Gundam :) I noticed Amazon Japan have 1-6 relatively cheap (and customs free - so a bit cheaper than CDJapan), but Volume 7 would have to be gotten elsewhere. I'll see if I can budget for them. :)

I'll post pictures of the set later.

I forgot to post this a month ago, but better late than never, I guess.

JoJo shelf is filling out nicely.

Also, random question - but why are the JoJo discs so big? What's in the boxes? I have to admit I kind of looks weird on the shelf like that with a real mix of sizes between the volumes.

Damn, that just makes me wish for the impossible and a domestic Jojo anine release...

Legit question, Why is it so hard to licence the JoJo anime? Is it just the naming issues? If so, how come they have no issues releasing the games? JoJo is quickly becoming one of my favourite shows and it really saddens me I can't get a physical release.

The JoJo sets do have English subs but only for Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency. They're really nicely done discs. The reason the sets are so big is they come with lots of weird, weird bonus items like this: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interes ... -usb-drive

I imagine a US release is coming very soon since they went to the expense of dubbing a few episodes already.

JP Books will post them to you at cost if you fire them an email :)

I haven't played All Star Battle in ages so I might be wrong, but I have a feeling they changed Jean Pierre Polnareff to Jean Pierre Eiffel in the English release?

You're right as my friend was complaining about that. I'm pretty sure the Crunchyroll subs have Polnareff though (despite changing a number of other names or using creative spellings). It's weird :D

Yeah they do. My favourite one is there are two characters called Oingo and Boingo, a reference to a band but they changed them to Zenyatta and Mondatta to avoid copyright or whatever. However, they forgot to change their name on a book that Boingo carries around, even going so far as to have the character appear to misread the book's name. IIRC they censor the book's name in later episodes but I still think that first time is funny:

They don't change the splash screens with the Japanese text either. The most obvious one is where it clearly says J Geil, but the subs say Centerfold.

I don't understand why they changed it to Zenyatta Mondata - isn't that a Police album? Or is it only band names/singer names they have to be careful about?

Today i got...

The Gundam set really is stunning - the quality of the materials used is incredible too, and obviously it goes without saying that Yasuhiko's art is peerless. Love that the box is like a 12'' vinyl, complete with old-school style movie poster art.

No need for me to post photos now :)

It is funny it's a box in a box, in another box. Then a sleeve with a slipcase underneath it for the Blu-Ray case.
