Wargamers of AUKN, unite!

Tau are a race you need to learn, and differ with each race, Marines u just keep shooting till ur opponent is dead, Orks u just keep hacking untill ur opponent is dead, Eldar, u just sit behind your Prisms, untill they get close, then send the Harlies to hack them to death :D

And Necrons and Tyranids, u just stand there till the opponet runs out of ammo, or away.

I find a good combo with tau is A squad of pathfinders (the markerlight move is a godsent) a squad or 2 of firewarriors, a tank or 2 and, i invest in kroot aswell (lets face it, if anyone gets in close combat with Tau, u may as well just take the sqaud off the board).

I'm not really fond of the runoff groups of the imperium sisters of battle, grey knights ect, but a marine is a marine, and something i plan to collect someday next to my Eldar and Tau

speaking of Tau, i need to work up plans to convert my Baneblade into a Tau one (i do like the new Apocolypse rules) :D

Sisters of Battle need a revamp, there's some very ugly old models for them hanging round for some reason. I don't think GW ever really put the effort into them for some reason. They've got a great backstory, and a good aesthetic on the better models...

Personally I do love the Guard. Normal men with families and homes to defend. In my case the men of the Hubris 22nd, slowly being repainted in snow camo as we speak. I just wish we had more variation in the models...I'm not talking about pose or equipment....but maybe some taller guards, shorter ones, fatter ones, thinner ones, maybe a couple of women...

Well, as some of you may know, I was starting a black templars army (along with high elves - high elves already in production. Weeellllllll, I'm thinking about changing my mind - And doing a Tau instead of black templars. They look alot cooler, and, I've had a space marine army in the past.

What are aukn's idea's on this? Black templars or Tau? :p

(I'm 3/4 of the way leaning towards Tau anyway - Just want your opinions ;D)

Do Tau.

(Other than because I know you collect them  ) Why you think that? :p

I kinda like tau, mainly because I have quite a few ideas about how I should paint them - I think, given enough time, I could make a really nice looking army with tau! :D

If i suggest Tau as well but i use them does that mine my vote is negated as well :p I'll tell you the reasons i got into them though, i was only into Warhammer for a month till the Tau came out, the look of them caught my eye, (the battle suits didn't hurt either) the funny thing was i was collecting nids when i saw the Tau and i don't think the contrast couldn't of been greater. Long Range fire power is the Tau's strong point, they have some of the best weapons in the game and can dish out the pain. Disadvantage would be close combat though, so if you play Tau like space marines be prepared to lose. The other reason i got into them was the models themselves, i thought the Devilfish tank looked pretty cool, and by extension so did the Hammerhead tank, the battle suits hooked me since as a kid giant robots had always been my thing (Transformers then into Gundam Wing) heck even the fire warriors looked really good.

Sorry i'm awfully biased on Tau :p good thing you didn't ask me to choose between Nids and Tau

Why do I think Tau? The variety really. Thats what attracted me to them. They arent the same as every-other-army which is learn what unit to shove in combat, they are the best short and long ranged shooters in 40K. As long as you balance what you take (AKA Not a tonne of Battlesuits and tanks) then your fine. Theres loads of variety in not only the Tau but in Kroot and Vespid which are both also brilliant units. The tactical options are infinite too; you can either go right up close to the enemy, or try to stay as far away as you can :)

Working on a small home campiegn at the moment for me an chaz involving the battle for Vengence between the Tau, Eldar and Chaos.

Even drawn up a little map :D, god now i am sounding geeky

in two minds after last night

Should i bother buying warhammer again or save my money for getting drunk, disorderly and having a good weekend out in bedford with the lads?

i just dont know anymore

Speaking from experince you should be able to do both, don't go out and start buying everything you see, just pick and choose enough so you can still go out on the town on the weekends (in my case it was thursdays and fridays as there was no where good open on saturdays) if there's nothing in the right price range just buy some matrials like paints etc, with moderation you can easily do both, its not a one or the other hobby

okay

the battlesuits have me thinking again tho.

they look cool...almost dreadnaught-like and they where always cool.
might have to buy another chinook

Charity is the last alternative  Especially AFRICAN AID CHARITY.

Agree to that. charity to that continent leaves me thinking
1 mugabi steals it anyway so whats the point?
2 they're a primitive race who still hack each other to pieces and are full of aids and HIV.
3 do like the australians and call out to them when their on boatloads across to england for the free benefits and easy living "turn your boat around or well sink it"

^_^

god bless the aussie's (who are actual cast offs from england for crimes centuries ago)

Got paid today, with some cash to burn... or to spend on W40k:
Space Marine £50 battle force
Tactical Squad
1 S.M. Dreadnaught
1 Chaos Dreadnaught
Green stuff blister.

This is for Ryo's new army, but since I'm stealing the Eldar we have already, I'm paying 1/2 of the new army. (He can pay to make it bigger/better.)
All this for a Campaign... Tiz madness! I just hope he'll continue with his armies (hobby or playing, dont care) afterwards. :S

Nice haul there Chaz :p well i've fallen back into my old painting habits quite easily, still have 16 Fire Warriors to give colour to though... and there's still two tanks left after that....ah well i'm going to be busy through autum :p

That's ok, I still have most of my army to paint... Wait, I still have 2 armies to paint... Ah crap! What the hell have I been doing?! (Building them and storing them by any chance?)

I have one massive problem with these new minis. The mould lines. ARRRGH, THE MOULD LINES! It was so much easier cleaning them off the old lead ones. It seems close to impossible to get them neat on these new metal ones, they're made of such hard metal. I flattened off a section of one of my Escher mini's hair yesterday trying to remove a particularly bad one.

I don't wanna derail what's otherwise a kick-ass thread, but I really hope that was just an amusing impression of someone who believes everything they read in The Sun and BNP newsletters, Tach.

Im also against the aid for similar reasons. I had to do research into it; so no its not just from the Sun :)
