Looks very nice. Really hope it's chipboard. I love Madoka and I'd love a really nice premium feeling set. I wish the series had gotten the same treatment. I also wish they'd do an LE Rebellion release too. I had actually cancelled my preorder for this as it was fairly low priority for me, seeing as they're recaps and all, but seeing this makes me really want it. Now I just have to hope I'll have the funds.

There's still too much marketing junk on the 'art' box but it's good to see them steadily going in the right direction each time.

The only thing I can see that's an eyesore is the BBFC rating, apart from that what else is there that constitutes as junk? the Aniplex and Animatsu logos are both tiny and grey and much more out of sight that the huge FILM logo on each and every Anime Limited box and the A@ logos on every side :p Outside of the BBFC logo, which they could (but won't) just put on as a sticker, the box looks clean and fine.

The US and AUS sets for comparisons sake.

Now the MAIN issue is the fact that the used standard amaray's instead of the grey/clear ones :p

Speaking of the BBFC, there haven't been many anime 18s recently, have there?

There's a few coming up: Baccano, Tokyo Ghoul and Samurai Bride - but aside from those, all we've had recently have been:

Perfect Blue
Garden of Sinners
Nisemonogatari / Nekomonogatari
We Without Wings
Ikki Tousen: Great Guardians

Looks like it by the description : "This limited edition Blu-ray box set includes a rigid artbox designed by character designer Junichiro Taniguchi. Bonus Features include: Textless Opening and Ending Theatrical Trailers TV Commercial Collections 16 Page Booklet "

Tempted to order the set now, was just going to purchase the third film but this looks gorgeous.

Same. I've been weighing up importing, but I'll probably opt for this release.

At least the BBFC rating on the box isn't as bad as the Austalian ratings. They take up an enormous amount of space.

The "Number of Disks" thing really winds me up, so happy MVM seem to have stopped plastering it all over their products. It's the biggest eyesore for me, it doesn't bother me if it's on the back but on the front and (even more so) the spine .. arghh.

It's funny isn't it though?! I'm fine with what A/L put on their boxes but others hate it and see it as clutter, we all have different trigger points to what becomes "mess". I've never understood how it doesn't bother the average person :p

Oh, you're quite right; from far away it looked as though there was text on there that was superfluous but it was the part numbers and title information. I don't care for the excessive logos and information on the outside of a decorative box but it's a heck of a lot better than the usual UK fare. If they get one new thing right each time then their next release should be close to perfect.

R (I already have the import so I have no horse in this race and Animatsu needn't listen to me)

Alas, the Animatsu logo was a mistake. It will be a MangaUK release.
For clarification, the image on Amazon for the Madoka Magica movies has the wrong logo on there. These will be released through @MangaUK
The threat of self-authored discs with weird chaptering is back.

It actually looks really nice - I wonder if the box is just a slipcase or something thicker? Nice to see a booklet thrown into the mix too.

Someone posted an image of the Nadia set and its artbox was about as thick as Anime Limited's ones, so I'm hoping they will do the same with Madoka.

Edit: I just saw that the Animatsu logo was a mistake. I guess the artbox will be similar to what they did for FMA: Brotherhood, AoT and there other stuff. I really hope it's more similar to what Animatsu are doing, though.

I still suspect that Animatsu and Manga UK are basically the same anyway. I think that Animatsu was created to allow a little more autonomy and to distance themselves from the terrible reputation Manga UK built up.

It's still the same core people that did the work though, just a different brand name, so the issue for me is: Will being Animatsu mean they use a better authoring house (subtitles in synch, proper chapter markers etc), fix bad releases, treat customers better and stop downgrading releases to dvd or cancelling them outright part-way through, even though it's essentially Manga UK 2.0/luxury Manga UK?

Well Gatchaman Crowds was basically fine - it was essentially the same discs as the original Sentai version, including their credits.

It's a good early sign. I did read an amazon review saying that it was missing the ova though which is meant to be important to the story.

It's not an anime I'm personally too bothered about watching (none of their upcoming releases are at the moment) but I am paying attention to their releases.

I actually like that Madoka box :) obviously its not final as it'll have Manga logos. Now the question of whether or not they'll have the foresight to leave a space it the chipboard artbox for the 3rd film and make it an actual collector's edition... because that would be an instant buy for me :) (damn even go full ULTIMATE COLLECTION and leave a place for the series too!) lol

Rather stylish. Cannot wait for this! Hopefully it's top loading and the discs are in a clear amaray again. I don't mind that one series will stick out compared to the rest of the AL releases on my shelf, but if that one series has two different styles...... :x lol
