Wait...7 discs.

The US release only had 6.
Probably because Manga had to do a ****** PAL conversion.

Well the Digimon Season Sets had rather 'questionable' visual quality (pixilation and such) when released in US by Flatiron Film Company / Cinedigm, so maybe the episodes have been spread out across an additional disc to make them better quality?

Either that or its just a template place-holder xD

I like how it says 'the official first season' - as if there was an unofficial first season too.
It's essentially identical to the American cover, and New Video have been putting "The Official.." on their covers since at least they started doing Digimon.

Inside the case! Disc 1 is feeling very Dandy today isn't it?

Disc 2 is a lot more laid back, everyone's favourite space cat right?

Standard edition comes with a reversible cover of it's own for those who dislike clutter

Yum, that is one tasty apple-eating Monogatari cover.

Tomoko's facial expressions on the Watamote cover always crack me up too.

Bonus Disc of content, TBC - may include contents from Japanese Blu-ray Box set:
Also comes two bonus discs containing "Yuki no Taiyo" pilot film (5mn), "Akado Susu no Suke" (episodes 26,27, 41 for a total of 30mn), "On Your Mark" video clip, and Hayao Miyazaki press conference on his retirement (90mn). Discs come in digipak with illustrated jacket. Also includes booklet. As bonus of individual release are not included, transfer rate is slightly better.

Do we know yet whether the films in this collection have been heavily DNR'd like the individual releases? That's pretty much the only thing which would make it worth buying in my mind.
Best case scenario is that we get a straight 1-1 copy of the Japanese encode this time around. Worst case is that it uses the same encodes from the current UK BDs with Extras removed.

That set would be an elegant solution to the issue of inconsistent spines that plague the existing Studio Canal releases. Don't think it'd be worth £180 just for that, mind. Unmolested Japanese transfers on the other hand...

Anyone know why the Japanese set has so many 1-star reviews on Amazon.jp? Neither my Japanese skills nor Google Translate are of much help.
