UK Anime Blu-ray & DVD Bargains

Elfen Lied ranks as one of the stand-out examples of an incredibly divisive show, whether people love it or loathe it seems to know no rhyme or reason - I've seen people with normally very different tastes in anime join together in both their love of and their or vitriolic hatred of it. I've never really got to the bottom of why.
It's got quite the cult opening. The only other anime I ever saw having a Klint-ish image inside was Mawaru Penguindrum and even there it was just a short cut. The series also has some other shots, which come off as somewhat aesthethic (including the final scene where the OP song is in the background, too.) Any of these portions were pretty much Anime-only at that.
Aside that I also think it depends when you happen to have watched it. Back in the day there really wasn't much with as much violence vs. innocence (amnesiac) stuff there and in a certain teenager age that seems to hit some strings. And this blunt "we make cute innocent (sorts of) girls suffer hell on earth" hasn't quite as repeated like this. At least not with as much explicit gore (and nudity).

I still love the series, though after a couple of years you can tell where the faults are, obviously the voice acting, some parts where the animation falters etc there is some fetishism I believe is adopted from the source, I mean a writer that knows how to create a story, but also putting something a bit odd about their own kind of fetish into the content which can come through in some relationships and where some characters seem powerless.
Something about the love/hate relationship about the series is also a bit outside the content of the series, and more to do with how it's been handeled. I believe Germany has the manga published, but no other European country meaning it's quite difficult to find in English, the series was done by sentai for the West (everyone has their own love/hate relationship with sentai) and first published by ADV films, but they shut down, the series was largely ignored then republished by anime 101, I don't know a lot about them they don't seem to be a big hit in the industry, though now after it's blu ray release it's never been treated better, with the LE going out of stock consistently
Yes, the Manga as released in Germany and I even happened to read it. I can't recommend it in any way. It doesn't have any sense of the aesthethics of the anime and the storyarc of what comes after the anime finishes off with this sorts of open end and.... not very appetizing.

I've read it online a while ago. What I've said about the fetish thing and powerless characters is more to do with that kind of content in the manga, I mean mayu's backstory fits to place her with the main cast, but when other characters get molested it's just either fanservice or "look at this shocking image! Isn't it shocking!" A more recent manga Inside Marie does it. There is like half a chapter of a girl touching herself and it has quite a lot of detail, but almost every single chapter after it is boring.
Order received. Not the metal box version so I'll be returning it. :(
Do you want a case your proud to show your mum? I refer to a previous comment I made about how the case looks. It's aluminium though I believe, and quite discrete and should have an artbook with it. I don't know if the ova is on the disc of regular editions though, but I can say much of the voices have changed from the dub. It's one of those series where the ova has been on the net for years undubbed and sentai, Funi etc didn't get to dub the ovas when they were on the Japanese dvds

Put my Madman code to good use and bought Sailor Moon Season 1 Blu Ray for less than £50 including postage. Sold my Viz edition on eBay for roughly that amount as well.

My first sale order hasn't dispatched but I'm not too fussed. Have one more order to put in before I'm done I think.

I'm tempted to do the same, but never watched any SM.
I did it for the better video quality, I've seen comparisons and the Madman set looks much nicer. I blind bought the Viz set initially, and it's somewhat repetitive early on but gets more enjoyable as the series progresses.

Best part come in Season 3 though, when Ikuhara is the director and some episodes go... pretty wild.
But I watched this show at least 5 times over with all the rebroadcasts we had here and even after almost two decades I don't feel much urge to revisit it again.
(Still think the manga has more captivating ideas and plotpoints, but reading is still like watcuhing an extended trailer whose full version never got produced. Too bad they butchered SMC so hard.)

my madman order tracking number has gone live on the Royal Mail side, but they haven't scanned it in yet. I hope this means it'll be in the UK in a few days, and hopefully skim past customs.

In regards to SM I've never seen it so I'm interested from the perspective its quite the loved show so I'm interested to see if I'd like it.

How do you get a tracking number?

Yeah don’t trust the tracking. Last year my tracking said it had been delivered when it hadn’t. Never got my order and eventually got a refund.

And where do you find that? I never got a dispatch email to my knowledge, despite it being dispatched.

I got an email from Australia Post starting my order was on its way.

Last year my package was sent to a US customer, and I got the US customer's order...

The tracking was fine for my last 3 orders with madman so I don't think I'll have any issues with it

also after this spring sale how many sales typically do madman do a year?

so what happened to your parcel in the end did u get it?

so what happened to your parcel in the end did u get it?

They told me to keep it, and reshipped everything that wasn't OOS (3 things where). They then gave me a $50 voucher to makeup for the issue + the fact I had to pay customs on the package that wasn't mine. I got refunded for the 3 items that they couldn't ship anymore.

The person who got my parcel is a member of another forums I frequent, which was a weird thing.
