Do many people still use postal rental services? I would have assumed everyone would have switched to VOD rental services instead now?
Only Sky and netflix available here for that too. All the Amazon stuff is locked to UK accounts except their own content.

I still use the Amazon postal rental service because there is no fibre optic on my street, which makes VOD and streaming impractical.

Me too, better quality picture and audio than streaming :D

Plus you get releases quicker most of the time (for movies and dubbed anime)

Found a code for xtra-vision.co.uk that gives you 20% off. This site has merged with hmvshop.co.uk.

I couldn't see much on there that was really cheap but these 2 caught my eye:

Aria the Scarlet Ammo (DVD) £7.99 (£6.39 after discount) and Horizon On the Middle of Nowhere: Season 2 (Blu-ray) £9.99 (£7.99 after discount)

Code is PATDAY20

Here are links to their catalogues:

DVD

Blu-Ray

Yay! Thanks for the heads up. Thats aria and shigurui bought now... Finally! :)

I'd be very wary using xtra vision. Lots of horror stories
I personally ordered 8 blu-rays from them before (2nd hand) 2 came without cases & 4 didn't turn up. They also ignored all correspondence. I'd look into them a bit first before blind buying with them as lots of people have had bad experiences with them.

They are fine for new stuff, but the stuff off the xv marketplace as mentioned here can be hit or miss as a lot of the stuff is ex rental and of variable condition.

Daaaaang. I think I jinxed my DotW experience when I mentioned how great it had been a few weeks back. There's been nothing I wanted ever since!

Still. I'll live in hope. With a bit of luck something like Moribito, Night Raid 1931 or Iria will crop up soon. Hint, hint!

Yeah I'm not too excited about this one. The story sounds....ok but I googled for some of the imagary and I don't really like the look of the main character girl. She's just not clicking/doing it for me. Not sure that I'll buy it.

Hurrm. DotW continues its trend of late by offering shows that just couldn't be less for me if they tried.

Oh, well!

Always great when you get a two-cour show as the DOTW too - in Love Hina's case that's 720 minutes for less than a tenner. Bargain.

I know how that feeling Anton. Before I heard of Play and Amazon I purchased through Ebay. Sadly there's 4 I need to rebuy. Anime Limited will be helping me this year with one I need to replace thankfully :)

I remember being caught out by Ebay bootlegs when I first started using the site. So annoying - especially when the seller and their listings appear legit.

I've been making a point of spending a little time each month reporting obvious bootlegs. It's very quick and easy to do. The idealist in me wonders what we might achieve if every board user here did something similar.

I HATE piracy.

Never used ebay but I have received a bootleg from an amazon trader before. This was back in 2011 when I purchased a copy of one the Cowboy Bepop OST cds. When I received it I knew straight away that it was a bootleg as it was by a company called Miya Records.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miya_Records

A search on Wikipedia and a contact through amazon later and I got a full refund.

I guess the bare minimum we should do when we encounter outright piracy is stamp on it when we encounter it.

I just... gah! Don't even get me started on it!
