Might buy for the sheer awful hilarity of that mushroom lollipop scene.

Is this worth a purchase? Is the story remotely decent and is their fan service? (can't see bf watching with me otherwise :p)

Not sure on the story, only seen clips when checking it out but yes, lots of fanservice to my understanding.

I've bought it too. It's either going to get immediately watched or put on my to watch list.

I'm still really gutted I forget to buy Love Hina when it was the DOTW. Grrrrrgle.

I bought Samurai Champloo last night, doesn't look like something i'd enjoy but a friend was persistent....but before I find out if he's right or not I need to get through some of my backlog.

Now only if AoL did a BD sale once to kill their routine...

Well considering they said the DOTW is DVD only, the routine will probably go for a while.

I know, they kinda suck  Its a shame. 1 BD once in a while wouldnt hurt.

Probably would hurt their profits though. I just wish Manga UK did something similar.

They dont need to sell at 9,99 like they do with dvd's, can sell a bit higher of course and about the profit...

for some reason, i think its better to sell more and maybe get less money but having money in the pocket, than dont sell almost anything at all and needing money to pay "bills" for example.

Sometimes you get more money by selling cheaper and selling more units, than selling at a normal price where you end up dont selling that much units, so it ends up compensating. All this dependes on the amount that are sold of course..

Good point :D

Or if they at least did some kind of "blu-ray sale month" on AOL seperately.
All the older BD releases for £14.99, £17.49 or £19.99 depending on age and popularity.

I remember them saying there weren't enough BD releases to justify a DOTW with Blu-Rays.
That made it sound like they would run that seperately and are waiting until they have at least 25 blu-ray releases (half a year worth of DOTW), which will take a while.

One thing I do dislike about how DOTW now works is how many titles come around at the same time every year.
They should try to shift some dates around so it works out better for everybody. Especially December-January & July-August.

And another thing I feel should change is that they should have for example all five sets of Slayers be in the DOTW instead of only season 1, 2 or 3.
I mean, really... It's annoying to see all 5 sets spread over the year. Not only from the POV of a customer, but also from the POV at the chart with all DOTWs.
As said earlier, they should overhaul the loop... (And rewrite the rulebook)

Maybe it'd, maybe it wouldn't. There's a breaking point where everybody starts buying something after all.

Something that hurts profits more is not having the respect from your customers because you as a company mess up.
MVM does that mainly with their dvd-only releases & bad covers. (Re-using the AU/US ones without making the adjustments needed like Manga does, preferably they'd just like Anime Ltd make their own, but yeah.)
Manga has hurt themselves a lot with canned BD releases, and not giving titles who deserved them one like MVM is doing now.

I agree on the MangaUK part they should have their own DOTW, but I don't expect much from them on that part.
I can't really recall a decent sale over here like what happens in the USA/CAN (eg. Rightstuf).
It'd be nice to see themed sales like in the US, but chances of that happening seem slim as well.
At best Jerome drops the SRP manually like with the Ghost in the Shell SAC SSS BD & Naruto Shippuden Movies Double Pack BD.

I can't remember for sure, but in the past I thought they did a DOTW with a DVD alongside the Blu-ray at a slightly higher price.
Nope. Never happened. At best there were words from MVM saying BD DOTWs wouldn't happen anytime soon.

Yeah I that would be great but like you said I dont see it happening. Actually i have asked that a few days ago to @amazonuksales on twitter (or to a similar name) but got no reply of course...

At what point did MVM's DOTW become anything other than a perk? They're not obligated to do it, and I can understand why they won't put BDs in it, given their lack of confidence about the UK market at the moment.

The other thing about these deals is they train people to wait for them instead of buying earlier (which is much, much better for the companies and their cashflow) so they have to balance getting people interested with not destroying their newer titles' sales potential. They're intended to draw attention to catalogue titles and encourage people to buy from their store, not to make everyone camp the shop for months until they can collect an entire series at a rock bottom price ^^; though it's only natural people would do that as soon as it was figured out.

Their BDs are 'premium' versions at the moment so it makes sense that they don't want to DOTW them until they are actually selling briskly and recouping costs. Manga selling their BDs off cheap in the past never particularly seemed to increase their success.
