The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a thread)

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

I too would like to know what robot monkey has asked too if anyone knows please hehe.

Also, I spotted Azazel, You're Being Summoned Complete Collection on UP1 and I really want it. As you know I prefer dub though so, does anyone know if anywhere will pick this up for a dub please?

I noticed Freezing:Vibration is out in North America soon and having seen the first season was wondering if anyone will bother licensing this for the UK? I was thinking the UK companies might regard it as too much hassle due to the problematic episode 6 which I could see the BBFC having an issue with. Bit hard to sell a series if one of the episodes has been hacked about.

Well it'll be Manga presumably as they had season 1, unless Manga and Animatsu are intending to split long running shonen to Manga and other items to Animatsu ofc.

As for if it'll be cut, I just checked the episode out in part. I knew about this particular plot line already and while it's a particularly nasty plot line I haven't seen anything that seems like it should definitely be cut. It's also an important part of Satellizer's character, so it has context to support its existence and the rest of the of the show will no doubt rate 15/18.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

Usually PAL works out better in terms of video than NTSC, as since the HD revolution, Australia usually opts to create their own masters from an HD source resulting in the full use of 576 lines of definition, instead of upscaling the 480 lines NTSC source as it used to be. Where there isn't an HD source and they have to use NTSC, then the the video quality might suffer.

To be honest, I never noticed the audio issue until I got a Blu-ray player and started watching HD anime at the correct frame rate. Now it bugs the hell out of me. I recently imported the Soul Eater Blu-rays to replace the Manga DVDs. Manga's Soul Eater Parts 1-3 were NTSC-PAL Standards conversions and looked like pants on an HD screen. Part 4 was a native PAL transfer, but the audio sounded weird. Psychedelic Souljam doesn't need speeding up anymore. Same thing with Vanilla Salt on Toradora made me opt for the Blu-rays, even though that's supposed to be an upscale.

What's everyones opinions on these shows: Burst Angel, Gungrave, Moribito: Guardians of the Spirit, Samurai 7 & Witchblade.

I currently own them on DVD and haven't seen them before. I tend to prefer watching shows in the best quality where possible (price also ends up being a factor though lol) I'm tempted to sell my DVD sets of them to buy USA Blu-ray sets if the shows are worth watching in HD and are rated pretty well.

Out of the above, I've only seen Gungrave, and I suppose the easiest way to sum it up is that it's a show that you need to take your time with.

When you watch the first episode, you'll think it's one thing, but give it a few episodes more and it essentially tears all that up and becomes something completely different. It's extremely good at storytelling, which makes sense as the bulk of the show is essentially one long flashback that carries on for episode after episode. There's this constant lingering sense of menace behind it all too, because you just know 'something' is going to happen, and it keeps you on your toes the whole time. If you like mafia/crime type stuff, you'll love it - and it does a very good job of conveying time passing as we follow characters along a rise, and rise, and then finally... inevitable fall.

Looks like you've got your Gungrave answer. I loved it, although it's been a while and I'm a little scared to revisit it just incase it doesn't stand the test of time but I've also seen Samurai 7. Gotta be honest it shocked me, I loved the comradre between the characters, the story unfolds pretty well too. If I remember correctly I felt it lost a bit of momentum towards the end (although that could have just been me) but a solid series non the less.

On up1.co.uk if an item says 7-10 working days does that mean they have to order in? if so is it possible they aren't able to order it in?

Cause I really want this : http://www.up1.co.uk/Details/A1444-Uten ... ed+Edition

Pretty much. Once you place an order they will go and find the item. It will take a week (or perhaps a few more weeks depending on the current status of the item, for instance older Funimation Limited Editions have taken at least 2 weeks minimum) but once the status says 'Being Processed' the item has been picked up and is ready for dispatch.

The Utena DVDs are still available so UP1 should be able to pick them up.

From their FAQ ""Normally delivered within 7 to 10 days", normal time it takes us to get a recent/current title from publisher or another warehouse .
(This maybe effected by publisher reprinting or shipping delays outside our control which means it could take longer)."

Others have already mention it but 7-10 is them basically being very confident that their suppliers have it in stock.

You do need to watch out with old stuff in that they don't always update the time frame, I have had a few 7-10's where it was so old that it was actually no longer available (to them at least) If they can't get it they are usually very fast coming back with a message to let you know.

I watched Burst Angel all the way through & it's an OK show but nothing special. The animation for the time it was made was good and is better than both the characterisation & a lot of the story. Pick it up if you can find it at a decent price.

Witchblade bored me & I only watched it part of the way through before giving up on it. To me it seemed like it was trying to sell itself on its connection to a well known comic series at the time & its fanservice, and nothing else.

I have a question of my own. I'm in the process of getting up to date with Funimation's One Piece releases but one I've held off on so far is Film Z as I was wondering where that fits in the chronology of the show?

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

I've most likely asked this before or seen this stated somewhere but I can't remember where...

Hellsing 9 & 10, when's the UK release again please? Also, US, I'm tempted to get from there if it's going to be a while but I've only spotted the BluRay combi play atm...is there no DVD only?

It's been hinted in Neo mag that it is definitely coming from Manga this summer - but considering Manga's current status, I wouldn't put any money on that.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

I'd say it'd probably turn out to be dvd only given how Manga UK are messing about now. I got sick of waiting for them to release the final part on blu-ray and just imported it from Australia. It's not a combi so they must have a separate dvd release. I can't remember what Region they are though, think it's 4.

Re: The Q & A Thread (for questions that do not need a threa

Is there any chance of Nisekoi getting a release over here?
