An "Anime for beginners" article from The Guardian

Would like to see twelve kingdoms and Mouryou no Hako (Box of Goblins), is a strange list though but nice that he didn't take the obvious route.

Some great stuff mentioned in the comments. I really do need to buy Paranoia Agent again, shoulda never got rid of it.

Did anyone even finish making it available unofficially in English? I remember being surprised at how little discussion it generated and how little regard it seemed to be held in on AoD and such.

None of those titles are available to buy in the UK, and Mouryou no Hako isn't officially available in English at all ^^;

Kinda renders the whole article near useless is what I thought, a shame because overall it's positive for once. Really need to pick 5 titles that are buyable, or at least mention that shows are available online via streaming services, even if your not specific in naming any of those services.

Yeah I saw that, could import twelve kingdoms I suppose. Pity there's no dub or even an English release for Mouryou no Hako.

More updates from the Discotek Facebook page,September releases are looking like Great Teacher Onizuka anime complete series,and the Thermae Romae anime!,October should be Blue Submarine No.6 complete series and Tekkaman Blade II,and after those releases it is the one we have all been waiting for,the first box set of Mazinger Z.Along with The Rose Of Versailles from Right Stuf and Captain Harlock from Discotek they are without doubt the big releases of the year.(oh and Space Adventure Cobra is the icing on the cake) :D

Natsume's Book of Friends Season 4 is released on July 2nd.

For the Sword Art Online dub, Kirito will be voiced by Bryce Papenbrook, whilst Asuna will be voiced by Cherami Leigh.

Whilst I can't comment on Bryce Paperbrook seeing as I've don't think I've heard him in anything, Cherami Leigh as Asuna is either going to be okay or awful... (Granted I've only heard her as Shana, which I then watched subbed.)

Ahhh Bryce Papenbrook voiced Asbel in Tales of Graces F, I thought he was fine there for what it's worth.

Find this a little amusing... Red Data Girl Hijacks Reading.

Also surprised it hasn't been posted considering the store entering administration was, but HMV has been saved.

Lol, tbh a show/book whatever probably has a lot more significance than a single town anywhere in the world, not surprising that it got taken over.

Your right that we should probably be more interested in HMV being saved, I can't think of anyone else locally that stocks Anime. What we really need is for them to get their online side back in play, Amazon need someone to compete against that's more specialised than Sainsbury's (you don't really think I'll buy my DvD's from them so i'm sure they don't get the business they maybe could).

Film4 has just shown a sneak preview of the dub version of From Up on Poppy Hill. Judging from the quality of the dub, I think I'll wait for the sub.

According to hmv.com, there is a new website being worked on. Great for me as the HMV I had regular access to is not reopening.
