With Bakemonogatari getting a 15, Nisemonogatari getting an 18, Nekomonogatari Black also getting an 18 and Nekomonogatari White as well also getting an 18; Kabukimonogatari gets a 12.

No more toothbrush scenes then?

Nisemonogatari's Episode 8 was the only one to have a toothbrush scene as far as I know, which in all honestly was pretty epic to watch.

I have to admit, God knows how the author comes up with the things he does. Not just the philosophical stuff, which is mindblowing enough, but just some of the concepts going on in that show. Like, where does it come from?

"Hey kids, get ready for Doozy Bots..."

Not going to lie, sort of hope to have an american representive in Build Fighters Tri who uses Doozy Bots exclusively.

Poképla and Sgt Frog PlaMo is also acceptable.

I've said it here before, buut I strongly believe that Gundam could be a MUCH bigger deal outside of Japan. At times it seems almost like somebody's embarrassed by the franchise, or looking for excuses not to TRY with it.

If they really, really wanted to, I'm of no doubt they could have made it as big as Transformers if they had properly tried and been willing to 'ship it' to the Americans. There were touches of that when SEED got fairly big, but it seemed to die down a little after that. That said, I can see why Japan is protective over Gundam, it's a national institution.

But look at Doctor Who, that was 'our' institution, and it started getting properly big in America again because they made the effort to get it syndicated to telly there and ship the stars out to do all the cons etc.

That's probably not the best of comparisons, but Gundam as an IP still has incredible potential - up there with the Star Treks and Star Wars of the world, so it feels odd for it to not be bigger in this increasingly globalised world where we 'share' everything online.

Yup. How long have I been saying this?

True - I've heard some reasons offered for why this isn't feasible. However, those reasons boil down to 'we can't sell it to everyone, because it's Japanese' or 'People don't like robots' or 'people don't like cartoons'.

An that, right there, is as merry a bunch of straw men as you could hope to see in one place.

Promote it, take some calculated risks, merchandise it... it has to work somehow.

Interesting. Apparently the reason Funimation doesn't have the rights to FREE! Season 1 was because Crunchyroll has them, according to the recent Answerman Q&A.

FUNimation have posted an official response to this news now. I guess they're in the same boat as Anime Limited; a local distributor waiting for Crunchyroll to get organised and let them work together.

It's pretty cunning of FUNimation to pass the buck in the middle of this uproar as it will mean a thousand raging fangirls are now penning messages to Crunchyroll's licensing team and telling them to sort their issues out. Perhaps we will benefit from this too.

I'm not sure it's even buck passing, it's just making it crystal clear to fans that might want to rage at Funimation that this situation is actually in the hands of Cruncyroll, only they can decide to get it ready for home release. It is clever of them to add they have approached CR with an offer to work together as that really puts all the pressure on CR and possibly prevents them from going to another dub studio as fans will want consistency between seasons.

Sentai have (sort of) announced four new licenses for the US. The question is - which are they?

(I would double dip on Miracle Train even if nobody else would buy it! :D)

Hmm, kinda clever of sentai, 12 titles, and they have 4 of them, let the speculation begin :)

I wonder though...why do Crunchyroll have the home video rights to Free! Iwatobi Swim Club? Could it have been an error in the fine print when they obtained the simulcast license, or could they be planning to enter the home video market again, following 5 Centimeters Per Second?

A lot of licenses have their rights sold as whole-packages. Digital rights and physical distribution rights together. Usually a company that wants some of these rights but not others will try to sell on the rights they don't want to use to someone else. Quite a few of CR's simulcasts come from Sentai Filmworks in this way.

So in this context 'Season' is more like batches of episodes I guess? Curious that Bake and Nise are considered to be two parts each, and can we even consider Kizu to be part of the First Season when it looks like for all the world that it's probably going to come out last/never?

And since I posted you added an extra season to your quote too !!

Also, random thought, why do sword art online arc announcements get spoilered when we can lay the whole of monogatari out like this?

^ I haven't been this annoyed and confused about a series since haruhi

With my current monogatari knowledge afaik only Kizu and Neko Black are out of sequence, being prequels to Bake.

This reminds me of Dark Horse and their Graphic Novels, sure it was cool each book had it's own name but it took them years to realise adding a volume number to the spine was a good idea so people knew what order they actually went in.
