The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I wish something similar with happen with Durarara! Even Amazonhas bloody emailed me about "my order placed in February" and how they are now reaching out to the providers for a release date and I can cancel if I wish etc. Not cancelling as still currently was for the best price I spotted although now there's no price on that site lolol.

Yeah that is a bit of a let down, especially when you see that the manga for other recently aired/airing series are coming out in January, but at least it's coming out. That's the main thing.

While I wait, I suppose I should finish reading the volumes that are already on my shelf....

FYI Grav, all of Funi simulcasts are like that. They have been for as long as I can remember. Here's one for Tokyo Ghoul for example.

Not too surprising since it's being put out by Warner Japan. They seem to be the only one who's interested in putting EngSub on their singles, granted they haven't done for a season or two now.
I haven't started anything from this season yet due to being ill, so I'm not sure if this show is even any good. I've heard it's heavily censored.

I learn something new every day, thanks for verifying that. I read some folks complaining about it on their FB page so I thought I mention it here to see what you (& others) thought of it.

Like Tokyo Ghoul, the anime is censored and butchered/fast-paced/missing scenes/losing bits of character development but for those who haven't read the manga it's a fairly good series. The censoring in Episode 3 was hilarious though (note the show takes the JoJo timeslot so censorship was expected).

Why are FUNimation's streams darker when the actual BDs are lighter than the JP versions (which was cited as a possible factor in the Lain banding situation)? I know there are standards differences between Japan and the US but it doesn't make sense to me when the same hardware is able to display both!

Funimation have announced the release dates for their next Bandai rescue titles - the .hack shows.

Good news is all four of them will be available by the first half of 2015, the bad news is that they are DVD only.

.hack//SIGN - February 24th
.hack//Legend of Twilight - April 7th
.hack//Roots - May 19th
.hack//G.U. Trilogy - June 30th ~ No English dub will be produced, this title will be released as subtitle only.

Sunrise and Right Stuf are teaming up to release some Gundam titles in the US!

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... ide/.79830

I'm mostly excited for Turn A but the rest is interesting too, especially as much of the series has been in limbo for a while. I wonder whether any of our UK companies have anything to reveal as part of this? Looking at Andrew in particular after his coup with the new show :)

IT'S A RUI!

I'll edit the post and let you take the credit if you want.

Now this is going to be tough. With Rightstuf handling the franchise, their sets generally look good (you know, those chipboard artbox sets like Funimation's but with thin-packs i.e. Utena) and since they're giving Blu-ray a chance at some point I'm torn between US and UK (as I can probably guess that Anime Limited will eventually have the UK rights to Gundam given Manga and MVM can't handle it).

We both know who really won the race :)

It's definitely going to be interesting - having a choice of two different tempting releases is definitely better than the alternative! It would be great if they can share production duties so both sides get the best possible release in terms of discs. Both companies are capable of gorgeous physical releases :)

Sorry Andrew, don't mind us just assuming you're going for the other Gundam titles too even if you haven't actually said so; it's fun to speculate!
