The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

With Anime Limited announcing 5 new titles and the presence of Aniplex, being that Wakanim.tv have just announce they've got Sword Art Onine 2 streaming rights anybody think that might be one of them? All the Anime (french arm) is releasing the SAO extra episode so its not unthinkable. And going by the restrictions and subsequent hate Manga got for the first series I could see them passing.

Oh well, I'm sure they'd of done a very good (ridiculously expensive) release :D

On the point of SAO 2 streaming: Crunchy Roll have the US, Wakanim.tv have 'french speaking countries' and Daisuki have 'the rest of Europe'. No one is willing to stand up and say "yes, we're streaming it in the UK"...

We can only hope, I've been tempted to cancel my subscription after we didn't get Kill La Kill, Nisekoi, Magi, Beyond The Boundary, Outbreak Complex, Samurai Flemenco and loads of others that we didn't get in the UK because someone else snapped up the rights and put it on their streaming site that you can only watch in the first 2 weeks.

Was it just me or did I see a post from MVM saying the schedule wasn't complete...

Anywho I did some mini-research and here's the thing:
- La storia della Arcana Famiglia is nowhere to be seen on the schedule. It's probably going to take the missing slot in september.
- On Zavvi, Kokoro Connect is listed as 2 Discs which could mean it only has enough space for the TV episodes and not the OVAs.
- On Amazon, all of MVM's newly listed Blu-rays are listed as Region Free. A typo by the looks of it.

Taken from Kickstarter:

Quick question - is there any chance of getting the rights to shows like Baccano or Samurai Champloo? Would love a Blu-ray version of them

Anime Limited: Would love to! Champloo's rights are with MVM but for Baccano...let's just say we've got a chance there ;)

Nope, I saw the MVM post too. Sneaky Sneaky.

........I need this to happen.

That isn't Crunchyroll's fault though! They do their best to get the shows they do get... but I do share your frustration, anything on Animax is considered unlicensed to me.

Speaking of region restrictions... still no word on the situation with The Irregular at Magic High School UK rights?

No word so far unfortunately.

As for Wakamin, even though they had delays. I feel that if they could add Anime Limited's entire catalogue including the movies, give it a suitable subscription model similarly to CR and Funi (SD free then HD, DTO & dub via premium) and at a good price point (less than £4-5 a month) then that would help them a lot, especially frustrated CR owners who still want Kill la Kill but believe no one else has it in the UK.

You're not going to see DTO on a subscription model. It just won't happen - people would just buy 1 month of subscription and download the entire catalogue.

Why would you even consider that we'd get something different from what happened in the US?

It'd be nice for certain to have a full set rather than have it split, but even if they were allowed to do so the market conditions wouldn't allow them to charge the correct price for the extra content.

And the sad thing is, unless Andrew has a coup coming (and I'll seriously give AL carte blanc to delay any release they have for up to two years if they pull this one off), that's where Sailor Moon is going to languish (if Viz/Sony can even be arsed to actively advertise Sailor Moon worth an upside down crumb) over here.

Andrew / AL needs to advertise the ablity to just have all of Kill La Kill in 1080p for about what you'd get it on BR with no restrictions.

Eh? Am I seeing this right?
I'm perfectly okay with this, but why would Aniplex of America bother to have anything to do with the UK?

For anyone who likes Nendoroids and shiz like that (like me), Goodsmile will be at MCM once again this weekend. This gives me the perfect opportunity to finally pick up the Eren Nendoroid, although I'm kind of disappointed they have Mikoto Misaka but not Kuroko.

After making their official debut last October, Good Smile Company are back with a stand of their own at this weekend's MCM London Comic Con, and in advance of the event they've now revealed what figures they'll have available for visitors to pick up and purchase from the booth.
The news comes courtesy of Tomopop, who have confirmed that the following figures will be on sale:
- Belldandy with Holy Bell
- figma Armin Arlert
- figma Hatsune Miku 2.0
- figma Link
- figma Shikinami Asuka Langley: Test Plugsuit version
- figma Snow Miku
- Kagamine Len
- Kagamine Rin
- Madoka Kaname: Maiko Version
- Nendoroid Eren Yeager
- Nendoroid Mami Tomoe: School Uniform Version
- Nendoroid Mikasa Ackerman
- Nendoroid Mikoto Misaka
- Nendoroid More: After Parts 01
- Nendoroid More: After Parts 02
- Nendoroid More: Dress-up Pajamas
- Nendoroid Plus Cardfight Vanguard Grade 01
- Nendoroid Sakura Miku
- Nendoroid Snow Miku: Magical Snow Version
- Picktam!: Attack on Titan - Part 1
- Super Sonico Lolita Maid version + Bed Base Set (NSFW)
You can find more details on all of these figures at the linked news post above. Will you be tempted by any of these offerings? Let us know in the comments!
