The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Shouldn't be - it's all there and ready to go!

Shall look into this but obviously won't get an answer until Monday...

They are fine with Kaze releasing (crippled) BDs that cannot be played on Panasonic devices via them, but are strongly concerned about two (if not less) anime-fans who can't play NTSC discs in the UK and Ireland?

Manga Entertainment UK, fix your game.
They have fixed their game. They've taken their name off the Kaze cases :p

Hey Andrew, while you're here, when can we expect the first rumblings of the Q3 releases as mentioned in the Jan 8th website update?

I hope we get something special release wise for Kill La Kill, for me it's a series that deserves the boat pushing out for its packaging etc on disc.

If Andrew can get the OSTs in Part 1 & 2 (and an artbox for Part 1) then I may consider the UK release.

That's the first thing that came into my head when they announced it.

Amiami sold letter openers in the style of Ryuuko's blade for about 2500 yen, wish I had got one now.

Following up on the Kill la Kill release - we're still discussing how to proceed there really. Some notes to follow:

- OSTs are a bit more complicated in this case given who has the rights but looking into it.
- Artbox for both parts is planned.
- We're doing a big storyboard book compiling the ones released in Japan for our French version, which I am duly pinching.

Apart from that we are still planning - depends on what the US schedule is as we'll be expected to play nice by that as well obviously. I do have one of the KLK letter-openers, which I'm not going to lie is pretty neat! Question is how on earth you get one of those replicated to a high enough quality...

Watch this space.

Thanks for the update Andrew - I think we'd all love it if you could obtain the original soundtracks for the series

In regards to the letter opener discussion, I think the issue with just getting the pre-existing letter openers and just putting them in the release would be the cost of them (As those letter openers aren't cheap if I remember correctly), so even if Andrew et al could get them, the cost of the overall release could end up having to be quite high. So if Anime Limited do go that route, it might be worth looking into plastic? I remember getting a small Gundam Exia model in my Beez Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Collector's Edition, which I still have on my shelf today. It's not the highest quality figure by any means, but it's still pretty cool.

And if Aniplex of America aren't planning something similar for their release, would they even let us have it? Considering how we know they've acted with other titles lately, what with not letting us have Sword Art Online's covers without that ugly white background. I mainly thought of it considering what FUNimation are doing for their premium Attack On Titan release.

I was thinking more along the lines of Andrew contacting Movic for a wholesale order, if 2000 copies are enough. If Amiami was selling them for 2280 yen, which is about £13.50, then I imagine the wholesale price would be about £6.75 each max.
