The polls on how the kickstarter budget for the BGC Blu-Rays would be used have now closed, with the result being that the basic set will include Adam Warren's Grand Mal comic, while premium backers will also get the discs in a chipboard case.

Still time to add more stuff, if anyone else wants to purchase the set - figures needed for each item listed on the kickstarter page.
Happy with the results here. Look at those basic backers bitching about not getting the chipboard case (if you want the premium packaging, pay another $50 you sodding cheapskates, just like you would have to if it were any other limited edition) when premium backers have pretty much paid for them to get Grand Mal out of their budget... They could have made their arguments and encouraged people before the vote. But did they? No, they waited until afterwards and then complained that the democratic process (which most people didn't even participate in) didn't produce their personal desired result - Welcome to democracy, where you can't have everything you want and if you're in the minority your opinion is ignored and worth nothing. Hopefully people have learned a life lesson there.

The only people I do feel sorry for are those who wanted foreign subs - My internationalist tendencies saw me vote for all of those, it seems a bit of a shame for non-English speakers to lose out.

There was a lot of Australian license announcements, so here's the list:

Hanabee
- Medaka Box: Season 1
- Nekomonogatari Black

Madman
- Dog & Scissors
- Fantasia Doll
- Nobunagun
- Robotics;Notes
- The Severing Crime Edge

Didn't they also announce that they were releasing an Attack on Titan LE 2 weeks after Funi's date? (So mid June for AUS release)

Sounds like a few people might be coughing up some cash to personally fund one or other sub option. I've signed up to the basic edition myself and have to say this is an all new experience. to me.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised Grand Mal came out top, a box is nice but content tends to trump something that'll sit on a shelf gathering dust. Shame I own a copy of Grand Mal already tho.

Basic supporter here and I'm perfectly happy with how it turned out - it's only fair that those paying more get the nicer packaging! I'm not bothered about the manga but when I put my money down it was because I wanted the show itself, so anything else is gravy :D

I hope that the people shuffling their pledges will fund the international subs, especially as work already started on them IIRC.

Do premium BGC backers get anything other than the chipboard box? Because $50 for that is... O_O

- Nekomonogatari Black
YES. No physical extras with their release, I imagine, but their subtitles are better than Aniplex's and of course it'll be cheaper. Cheaper still if I wait for the inevitable MVM version.

I thought it said volume 1 so they might be doing it in single volumes like they did with Blue Exorcist.

The premium version is set to be packaged much like Bandai Visual's Gunbuster Movies collection with three separate cases in a chipboard box, whereas the standard is just getting a standard multi-disc Amaray. And it's not like dollars aren't heading towards parity with the salted peanut again anyway. Also bearing in mind it's going to be limited to around 500 copies worldwide, I think it's going to be quite a nice item to have.

At the moment, that does appear to be the only difference, although I think the commemorative coin may end up being a fancier version.

I'd have quite liked the commentary track myself, but it seems plausible that we might get it yet.

It's quite the step up to obtain the box though, doubling the cost.

The more I think on it the more I wish they'd not had the Manga as an option, so much more disc content could of been bought with the money. And the fact it comes digitally means it'll either be spread round the net within days or locked down securely somewhere with no idea how long it'll be available online.

They did and it's pretty much going to have the same stuff (and some stuff from the LE) as the Funimation set:
In addition Madman announced that Attack on Titan will be released on the 18th of June 2014. The vol 1 release will include a special edition with collectors box, lenticular art, collector pins and necklaces.

I have a suspicion the Funi release may be AB|124 given the space between US and AU's release date and the space between US and UK's licence announcements.

Oh and out of nowhere (rumours ofc), One Piece Film Z could be arriving in July.

I wonder if Funimations will come with the collector pins and necklaces. If it does and it's A/B, as much as I love steelbooks, I think I will go with Funimations release. Chances are we won't get those physical extras.

Much as I like Grand Mal, I'm inclined to agree, as copies of it aren't hard to come by. If Crash or AD Police absolutely couldn't be brought to the table, I think I'd rather have seen some of the BGC doujinshi from around the time of its release, if such were possible. Maybe some of Tony Takezaki's work, seeing as it was allegedly what got him the job drawing AD Police.

It's not confirmed the UK release will be a steelbook yet. Manga were just trying to gather opinions and might have ultimately decided to go down a different route.

Neither "Possessions" or "The Wind Rises" won an Oscar and there is no prize for guessing who won the latter category.

They need to seriously include a Foreign award section for the animation because a lot of films should have deserved it but got screwed over by Americans.

Here's something to chew upon. Intreviews with 7 anonymous Oscar voters:

I like to think Frozen's win was to make up for Wreck-it Ralph not winning last year.

Academy voting has always been like those THR samples. It can really hurt for some of the more technical categories (how else do you explain Life of Pi beating Skyfall for Best Cinematography last year?). Can't imagine them ever reforming the system.

I mostly liked the ceremony overall. Ellen was a great host, we had some classy moments (like Bill Murray's tribute to Harold Ramis) and I was happy to see 12 Years a Slave and Gravity take the glory. I still need to see Dallas Buyers Club though.
