I saw the white and black and there very expensive sigh
I'm quite surprised that you of all people are complaining of that AF, especially considering the amount of anime you buy each week.

Yeah well I recently decided to try restrain my self and buy cheaper ones first then work my way up to the expensive ones because you don't know when you'll really really need it you know money isn't unlimited because if it was I'd of brought all the ones that up1 had by now.

Recently the UK DVDs have been cheaper lately tho which is something to be happy about.

It's always best to look for good deals before buying something and buying them cheap

For anyone who may have missed the Bubblegum Crisis Kickstarter, there's still time to pre-order the Blu-Ray Set.

LINK
As someone who hasn't watched BGC, what reason should I have to be interested in this? I am slightly tempted since I get the impression the print run is limited?
How does this make you feel Lawrence:

Sold yet? Other than being the best 80s cyberpunk anime has to offer with that great aesthetic, attitude and music of the time (that nobody has really been able to match since) as well as fun plots and likeable strong characters with lovely Kenichi Sonoda designs, the Japanese BD rips look truly excellent. Being an OVA series, it's one of those traditionally animated shows that obviously had a lot of time and effort put into it and benefits massively from HD.

Also, if you choose the premium set for $110 (premium backers get to have a say in set contents and design) when packaging choice time comes around you can help me make sure it gets a rigid art box. With only around 500 premium backers those sets are almost certainly going to become very collectible.

I've always wondered how the hell you afford it all :jealous: lol

I try to do this,

Buy the cheap anime first and the cheaper they are the more you can spend on getting more on a low budget, but it's a problem when there's a anime you really really really want and its extensive but that's ok because if you wait the price will go down eventually

Things about the BGC Blu-Ray

Much as I am very tempted by the BDs, speaking as one who owns the remastered DVD set, I think it really needs to include something I don't already have to sway me. Having seen images screengrabbed from the Japanese BDs, I do appreciate that the picture quality is much better, but I'm not so hell bent on enhanced imaging to feel the need for an upgrade.

It seems to have gone quiet on that front, but if they could have included Crash and (ideally) AD Police '90, that would have done it for me, just for the sake of having the full set in one box. As it is, I really want to know what's going on that 3rd disc before I'd commit to anything.

Edit: I'd also want to have some idea of what the premium option is likely to include. Whenever I try to read the details on the project, I just end up more confused than when I started.

Meh. As far as I'm concerned, $110 for a limited edition BD set is still a big saving on the Japanese BDs (and apparently comes with sets of English subs in both AnimEigo's garish colours and plain white). Anything else I get on top of that is a bonus. Also after watching my new Patlabor OVA BD today, I most certainly *am* hell bent on that enhanced imaging. The amount hand drawn animation benefits from HD when remastered from the source material is crazy.

Funimation have announced home video rights to the following titles, all arriving in June 2014 and will contain English dubs:
Code:Breaker - Confirmed Blu-ray/DVD Combo
Date A Live (Season 1)
Karneval
Red Data Girl - Confirmed DVD only

Note that these few are also confirmed to arrive sometime in the summer of 2014:
Hetalia: The Beautiful World - Confirmed DVD only
Senran Kagura: The Animation - Confirmed Blu-ray/DVD Combo
The Devil is a Part-Timer! - Confirmed Blu-ray/DVD Combo

I can't wait to get a hold of DAL, it's been on my must watch list for a long time ever since the memes regarding the characters kept going on all over the internet (like Future Diary did back when it came out).

In other news,
- Crunchyroll adds K-Drama service
- Toriko anime will end after 3 years (and being replaced by Dragon Ball Kai's Buu Saga)
- Someone tried to pirate The Wind Rises with their glasses
- El Hazard BD-Box (with Eng Dub) delayed indefinitely

Ehh I already imported Karneval so no BD for RDG means that only Code:Breaker will be on my list of those new acquisitions ;_;

Looking forward to finally seeing more Hetalia, though (I don't care if that's DVD only) and Hataraku Maousama still looks good.

Update for Prof and any other interested parties here - I received an e-mail today regarding voting on contents and packaging of the BGC set, which starts today and finishes on the 28th. If you want to invest and have your say in what goes into the set, now's the time. "3 single Amaray cases in a chipboard box" needs all the votes it can get... Adam Warren's "Grand Mal" manga and the BGC RPG material are possibilities for extras.

Another BD-Box (or film) has English Subtitles:

Also, what's the difference with the Arrietty listing on Amazon?
(Blu-ray) [DVD]
[Blu-ray]
Because they just used the same Blu-ray image, it's annoying me when I search it (and I know a combo pack is out there which is what I'm after).
Here's a list of the different versions:
http://www.bva.org.uk/node/1602442

As far as I can tell:
ASIN B0078K45M4 is the later bluray-only edition.
ASIN B005A50V0O is the original standard edition combo pack.

That's why one says 1-disc and the other says 2-disc.

Bah, I might as well. I'll just be annoyed with myself if I don't.

I am sort of impressed that they've thought of including Grand Mal, although it's not much use to me as I do actually have a copy of it.
