Hmm, wasn't it AD Vision for season 1?

Or was it MvM season 1, ADV season 2, with only 1 volume released before they went under?

Either way I'd suspect Manga would of held onto it if they thought more copies would sell, hence MvM would probably not pick it up.

MVM did release season 1.

Ah yes, I recall thinking it was very odd season 2 was being released by AD Vision when Season 1 was MvM, then again the fact that Manga somehow re-licenced it over MvM is also odd when you think about it.

Looking at Amazon and Ebay you can pick up part 1 and 3 new for about £4-6, part 2 seems to be the difficult one, there's a very good used one on Amazon for £6 odd, the complete set is ofc stupid expensive.

You're actually thinking about the US license holders, of which Media Blasters licensed season 1 while ADV licensed the second season in that deal that went south and that license was picked up by funimation which is why manga released the second season in the UK instead of MVM (the US release of season 2 is still available as a complete collection under funimations S.A.V.E edition label).

In case anyone's curious about the packaging for the standalone Garden of Words release.
Customer Not to be nitpicky, but was the choice to put the Garden of Words blu-ray in a regular box as opposed to one of the nice cardboard slim packs you've had for your other releases planned to be that way from the get go? Or did you have to cut corners on this one due to budgeting issues?

Anime Limited: Kerry Hi, Not at all! There were a couple reasons behind the amaray packaging for GoW. 1- we're releasing a Makoto Shinkai Collection sometime soon (we're working on getting a few titles confirmed) that will come in beautiful collector's edition style packaging. So doubling up on the title wouldn't be viewed as fair. 2- despite all the on-disc extras, the film itself runs for only 48mins. The cost of the Bebop style packaging is quite high and, thus would be reflected in the cost of purchasing the film. We felt that many wouldn't feel that this higher cost would be justified given the length of the film. So we figured: let's do as beautiful an amaray release as possible for the film and concentrate on making the Shinkai Collection as beautiful and high quality as possible. Hope this answers your questions!

Anime Limited: Andrew To add to what Kerry has said basically the minimum price we can charge for the rigid packaging and either booklet or postcards due to costs is £34.99 SRP.
It's pretty close even then but for movies we see it as something that /should/ be done so take the risk as you need to keep a movie price point as low as you can even on collectors by and large.
That said a simple matter of math said that only a very very small fraction would pay £20-25 on Amazon for such a set so we had to improvise.
As said though a Shinkai collection will yield more chances at a collectors packaged edition though so watch this space!

Back then I didn't follow US events at all I'm afraid. It really did surprise me the season 2 had been grabbed by AD Vision rather than MvM continuing it, especially as they had the OAVS in addition to season 1. Though now I know what was happening in the US that explains a lot, guess they weren't as respectful when it came to letting someone else continue a series that had part 1 of.

Good point about the SAVE edition too, that's a good alternative and can be had for £15.60 off United Publications, dirt cheap compared to other alternative if you are ok with the SAVE banner.

I have bought it and i will still buy the Shinkai Collection when it comes out. It shouldnt be out this year so £13 pounds extra on this aint gonna no ones pocket at all.

Hope to see it released in the UK at least in december this year lolol not sure if its possible..

You know, looking through Manga Entertainment's catalogue I just noticed that next to Ah My Goddess also Ghost in the Shell (series) is OOP (temporarily?).
There are still plenty of copies available on Amazon I notice, but since it's not listed anymore as part of the MangaUK catalogue this might not get reprinted by them.

MVM did state last year that they are going to try and get more backlog titles an upgrade during a Facebook discussion when a fan asked about the possibility of the Berserk TV version receiving a Blu-ray.

It would be good if they did bring out Blu-ray versions of their backlog titles. I would like to see Canaan, wouldn't mind Fate/Stay Night and would love to see Ergo Proxy. I doubt Ergo Proxy would get a BD though, seen as there is no US release of it yet.
I haven't seen Canaan, Fate/Stay Night & Ergo Proxy but I am definitely interested in Blu-Ray upgrades for those.

I personally would really love them to upgrade Needless to Blu-Ray with the complete collection that should come out sometime this year.
I also think MVM should upgrade Mayo Chiki when Sentai Filmworks release the BD with dub aboard in August.
Samurai Champloo is something that's expected to happen, it's a neat anime so yeah. It deserves it, but they should be careful with pricing it.
EF - A Tale of the Two anime is one I'd like to see getting an UK BD release, and Is This a Zombie as well.
And a title I was really bummed about that it didn't get a blu-ray release: Heaven's Memo Pad.

And I really hope they're smart with upcoming releases like From the New World & Zero no Tsukaima and assure a BD release for both.

I'm fully aware the US BD of SamCham is A+B, and that the newest print run of EF is likely A+B, but especially the latter is risky since you can't predict whether you'll get a more recent copy or not.

So TLDR: Needless, Samurai Champloo, Mayo Chiki, Canaan, Fate/Stay Night, Ergo Proxy, Is This a Zombie & EF - A Tale of the Two. (And assure BD for Zero no Tsukaima & From the New World)

It's very likely that I'll import Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, Campione & Inu x Boku SS in due course if they don't give those BD releases soon. (Which won't happen.)

Is it possible that MVM are doing what Manga are doing? Ya'know the whole thing about BD's being cheaper to make nowadays or something? Depending on disk? I'm not sure on the technical details but I would of presumed they would be doing something like this when it came to bringing more BD's out? Being that they're the smaller company.
Probably costs have come down for MVM as well, but as the smaller company they prefer quantity over quality as far as I understand them.
They are pretty much the exact opposite of the much-respected Anime Ltd, that prefers quality over quantity. (And tries to assure they'll be able to give OOP titles a new life, give other titles a BD release, give sub-only titles a life,...)

Only once? I hope that's your way to referring to season 1, and not talking in general as that's pretty harsh to say otherwise.
It was and a reference to Cannon Fodder 2 (which had the slogan of "War has only been this fun once before" to match Cannon Fodder 1's "War's Never been So Much fun")
Oh, excuse me. I don't know that franchise. I should probably look it up.

What I find interesting is their talk about "looking into re-releasing back catalogue on BD", but only mentioning one title thus far.
I personally have tweeted them I'd love BDs for Clannad, Clannad After Story, K-On, Soul Eater, Haruhi Suzumiya & The World God Only Knows.
I'm fully aware of the issues that come with K-On! & Haruhi Suzumiya.
As for The World God Only Knows it feels appropriate to do so as season 3 is an upcoming US release, and thus likely an upcoming UK release.
And given Manga now pretty much release all on BD it'd be stupid to see only S3 on BD, but not releasing it on BD would be even more stupid.
And yes, I presume Manga Entertainment shall be licencing TWGOK S3. ^_^

Five other titles I'd upgrade (but didn't mention at Manga) are Baccano, The Sacred Blacksmith, Towa no Quon, Darker Than Black & Aria the Scarlet Ammo.
And one I don't see happening but want to happen: BLACK ROCK SHOOTER.

There's a few more, but I think for example Squid Girl has lost its battle already now season 2 won't get released anytime soon thanks to Media Blasters.

Are A/L branching to outside the UK? ..maybe .. https://www.facebook.com/alltheanime/po ... 0951444760
Is Andrew trying to re-establish Beez Entertainment but way better? Interesting! (It's possible given Andrew was part of Beez)

The part where they expand to France makes sense in the way that France has a way bigger anime market, thus Anime Ltd would be able to recoup costs a lot quicker if they had that territory on their portfolio as well.

Manga's Ah My Goddess Season 2 is deleted. If you can find it, best buy it.

Just the other day I put the single up on ebay with plans on getting the box set ..nowww it's OOP and high in price. I should check these things first :(
I bought the MVM DOTW with the idea of buying the second season a few weeks after. But it went OOP way quicker than anticipated by me.
I remember this happening to me before with Tenjho Tenge, going OOP just when I was going to buy it. Eventually I was able to find someone from the Netherlands who owned a box full of sealed MVM releases he had bought at a convention. He was happy to sell that and Texhnolyze on to me for £20 each. Is about 10 months ago now. (And they were no bootlegs, thank Haruhi. (instead of "god" you know))

Aargghhhhh... I hate volumes when I know a complete collection exists.
Since S2 was owned by Manga both getting the UK & US release is equally annoying though for the way my collection works now.

AL expanding in to France? I hope they don't stretch themselves to thin/take on too much, would hate to see a company like AL try to take on far too much and then crash and burn because of it. Fingers crossed if they do expand that it's at the right pace and with the right titles, we need them in the UK market.

As long as part of that expansiion is the on going efforts to make Wakanim not awful then sure.

Wakanim is a good site, yes there aren't many shows on there but at least the shows do have are mostly good, the site is well presented and the video quality is good even on the free streaming, better to my mind than CR's free streaming.

I was hoping this would happen at some point, here it is: Nekomonogatari's domestic Blu-ray release from Aniplex USA. Also the cheapest AoA product thus far for Blu-ray. It's exactly the same version as the Japanese and Korean releases I've seen, similarly to Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari (Nise doesn't have character commentary though).
