I'm hoping for an Ultimate Collection of the original Evangelion + the movie.
According to MangaUK, Gainax aren't letting anyone license the original series at the moment, due to them wanting to push the Rebuild movies.

Although the highdefdigest review of the Japanese release didn't exactly give it high praise for video quality. However the screenshots I saw some time back, it did look a lot better than what came with 2.0.

Wasn't the original film on 35mm, if so a proper high quality remaster could be done.
My BD copy of the original came today, and whilst I haven't watched the entire thing yet I did watch a few bits here and there.
Whilst It didn't look as good as the remaster for Akira from what I saw as an example, it still does look pretty damn good and I've no doubt it looks miles better than the DVD. The only thing is that not only does the original GiTS have black bars on the bottom of the screen, it's also got them on each side, so the actual resolution it like 1800x1000.

I suppose I could post a few screenshots comparing the upscale on the 2.0 release to the BD ver. if anyone wants it.
I've never actually seen the original before, only 2.0.

If it's not too much trouble I wouldn't mind seeing a few screens shots. Thanks.

2. Will The Cowboy Bebop Complete set have the video issues fixed from the earlier versions and will it have new packaging?
3. What kind of stuff will be in the Durarara collectors edition and will there be standard edition
4. Most sets nowadays are €40/£28 on amazon for 13 episodes so I actually think these sets are priced well but will there be a standard edition for space dandy as the price seems hefty
5. Would Anime Limited Ever Consider Licensing some NIS titles in the UK as there are alot of nice titles that look like they are never going to see the light of day in the UK, i/e Ano Hana, Hanasaku Iroha and Bunny Drop
Hey hey - in answer:

1. I'm looking at that just now, it really depends on what everyone wants I guess? I'm happy to entertain the idea though on it at the same time the TV series is released on BD though if that's something folks would buy .

2. Yes to issues, the last set of discs we're printing into the Collectors set will have fixed video too - will confirm when done. Meanwhile packaging for £59.99 SRP will be an Amaray. We /will/ however do one last hurrah for Christmas time with a Cowboy Bebop Ultimate Edition if it pans out - trying a few different things to comprise that so watch this space but we will definitely confirm it before the cheap edition comes out.

3. It's going to be the same high quality packaging as Cowboy Bebop had - but with 4 unique art cards inside - one of the cards will also have the certification showing what number in the print run it is as we'll be doing one run only of the Collector's Edition again. Booklets were unavailable due to the assets we were allowed to work with in this case.

4. There will be - but it'll be a bit down the line as per the course for our release format. While not in anyway as severe we do have a duty to protect prices for the Japanese licensor to some extent - instead of waiting far longer than other territories and going cheap, we put some love in and find a middle ground at first though . When that period ends we will usually do what happened with SAO too in order to provide consumers with choice though!

(TL;DR - Yes, but it won't be in 2014 as you can imagine!)

5. Yes - but boring answer is right now I need titles that are less of a crap shoot on grounds of needing to develop our revenues before taking on labours of love on that scale. Give me another half year or year and you'll see more titles like that filter through though :3.

Very best,

Andrew

Also a random request for Nadia Secret of Blue Water blu-ray set as both the US and France are getting them in the next couple of months. ;D
You can speculate away ! If you want a hint:

- It's a film.
- It's been released in France before.
- It was released in Japan between 2005 and 2010.

We already have the rights for the US & UK too - so it's not for the rights we are Kickstarting but creating a high quality release that can reach the widest possible audience across both territories. Which you have to admit is a pretty ballsy move for a UK company .

Something to look forward to before end of January!

Genius Party? That was released in 2007 and has had a French release….

Possibly Mai Mai Miracle?

I managed to do a bit of research, remember it hasn't been released in UK or US. A list of anime films released in France via KAZE with a release between '05 to '10 in Japan:

Fist of the North Star: Shin Kyuseishu Densetsu pentalogy - 2006-2008 (Shin Kyuseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken)
Japan, Our Homeland - 2007 (Furusato Japan)
Mai Mai Miracle - 2009 (Mai Mai Shinko to Sennen no Mahou)
Piano Forest/The Perfect World of Kai - 2007 (Piano no Mori)
Summer Days with Coo - 2007 (Kappa no Coo to Natsuyasumi)

Genius Party sounds like a possibility, but who distributed it?

Another clue:
- Started on limited release in cinemas in Tokyo and actually under-performed as was targeted at the wrong audience.
- It was a rare case of the director AND animators taking to the streets and passing word of mouth recommendations that resulted in a seven month across cinemas in Japan, selling out a lot of them.

There are anime distributors in France other than Kaze...

I've no doubt that this'll be a title I'll probably never have heard of, let alone seen. Either way I'll most likely support the release no matter what it may be. I love what Anime Limited are going to be offering over the next few months as well as their release format, and I fully intend to support it. I also have to mention that their licenses thus far suggest that the guys over there have good taste, so I look forward to discovering (and re-discovering) titles from them.

I've never actually seen the original before, only 2.0.

It was my honest belief that the original wasn't suitable to be released in HD format and that's why the 2.0 had been created.

http://www.amazon.fr/Genius-Party-Editi ... nius+party By this company called Alive, who also released the sequel and Mind Game. Mind Game would be a nice one to release over here, but as he said between 2005 to 2010, thats not included obviously.

I’d be very happy if that First of the North Star penology came out over here, but we would need a uncut release of the TV series for any of the movies to have any meaning.

I just checked that Genius Party was released on July 7th 2007. Though that's a German import it probably won't count. Nice catch though.

I am aware but Kaze is very popular one in France. There's also Dybex who does some rather nice complete sets.

From Kaze's part I would nominate:
Mai Mai Miracle, Piano Forest & Summer Days with Coo.

From Dybex's part I would nominate:
None, no anime was released between 2005-2010 in Japan and/or has UK/US license.

I know people will immediately shoot this down as it's already been licensed in the US, but Garden of Sinners does fit the 3 criteria above as they were all released between 2007 and 2009. I kept thinking why not include Australia in this and came to the conclusion it was because Australia already had a release of it. Darn you Aniplex!!!

Nevermind, sorry guys.

Stupid Funimation, affecting other oversea schedules.
Dear Fans,

We wish to advise that Evangelion 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo's upcoming DVD and Blu-Ray release originally slated for March 19th, will be delayed until further notice. We will advise of a new release date once we are able to.

We sincerely apologies for any inconveniences this may cause and hope you look forward to the release in the near future.

Love Madman.

Quick reminder for Collectible lovers:
Heads up, All 3 Volumes of the Madoka Magica TV Series Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo packs are almost Sold Out. Get your copies today if you haven't picked them up.

And the Simpsons have done a tribute on Hayao Miyazaki:

By Andrew over at UKA in regards to Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning:

Meaning circa £24.99 at least for a combi-pack that comes with the theatrical pamphlet. If it's not your kind of thing we'll likely do some kind of cheaper release circa the physical release of The Rising

Another ever so subtle hint xD Could possibly be a license included in the 7 films previously mentioned.

Madoka Magica: Rebellion's Japanese Blu-ray release will include English Subtitles.

And I just remembered that Season 2 of Mysterious Cities of Gold (Japanese/French anime) is arriving in the UK soon enough, on Blu-ray and DVD via February 10th.

Wait a sec, an osbcure show (but I'm sure good show) like Mysterious Cities Of Gold Season 2 gets a UK BD release but something like Adventure Time (non-anime I know but I'm trying to make a point) does not?
