Anime Limited apparently don't have Kill la Kill in one of the 17 licenses.

Well we have 10 series we've not announced yet - and I'd guess whoever DID have KLK, even if their contract wasn't signed yet, would be aiming for a Q3 or Q4 release for the first part depending on the US" plans...

- Ever-so-subtle Andrew.

I read andrews comment more as him saying "we've got it but can't announce it officially yet". Especially with the "ever-so-subtle" comment.

Gurren Lagann Ultimate contains:
- A rigid case with some very nice artwork around it.
- Serialised postcard inside with the number in the print run it is (only 2,000 will ever be made).
- 6 BD50s with all 27 episodes, Movie 1, Movie 2, Parallel Works, the Nintendo DS OVA and as many of the extras we can negotiate that are not exclusive.
- A 50 page artbook, hardback A5 sized.

Very nice. I really hope both the English and Japanese audio is lossless. I'm also curious to know if the English is 2.0 or 5.1 like what's on the Bandai DVDs I have.

Now hurry up Amazon, I want to pre-order.

Anime Limited have mentioned on Twitter that the Kickstarter is for an older film, so there's a vague hint.

Hmm.... possibly Wings of Honneamise?

It's clear to say that film is one of the 7 movies they've licensed, since Manga doesn't have it and MVM don't do movies 'cause they're too expensive'.

Maybe getting a little hopeful... but do Manga still have the original GITS movie? It would be awesome if AL could release it in a format and release that won't burn your eyes out. Considering they say the've licensed a movie thats never been licensed.... possibly Angel's Egg? I think that film does have a market for artsy fartsy kinda people and they could sell it based on Oshii and Amano's name. "From the artistic Yoshitaka Amano (Vampire Hunter D, Final Fantasy) and the visionary Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers)"

I doubt it will be Wings of Honneamise since an earlier post said that the Kickstarter was for UK and US - Wings of Honneamise has a new release in the US through Maiden Japan (Section 23),

Manga do still have Ghost in the Shell and have released it in 1080i form on the 2.0 release.

I'm annoyed Optimum/Studio Canal haven't released HD versions of their other anime titles like Appleseed (CGI Ver.), Brave Story, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, JIN-ROH, Vampire Hunter D and Vexille. They definitely deserve a Blu-ray release.

Angel's Egg I haven't yet seen but from what I have witnessed suits really well for Anime Limited's catalogue. Who knows, maybe Tokyo Godfathers and Millennium Actress are also part of the 7.

Just got informed that H.O.T.D. Full Color Omnibus 2 should be dispatched from Amazon in a matter of weeks, around 22 Jan. Amazon previously delayed it to April for no reason.

I think Tokyo Godfathers might still be with Sony, but I can see Millennium Actress getting re-licensed, since it's getting a blu ray next month in Japan. I hope they can release Memories on blu ray since thats OOP and I hope they can get Robot Carnival and Neo Tokyo, since those have never gotten a UK release. I imagine they would been hits if Manga licensed them. Is Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis still in print? If not, I could see AL getting that one, same with Sword of the Stranger, since AL seem to be at good hands when it comes to Bandai stuff.

Oh yeah, however its a upscaled laserdisc, so it looks like gobshite. Didn't Manga say they were gonna release a classic a year at one point? Heres hoping they can release a blu ray version of the original print, since I could see that doing really well, considering how well Akira and Ninja Scroll did for them.

You do know UP1 has it in stock already?

Yeah I know but it was meant to be an Xmas gift to me and my relative kept the order going.

Isn't it meant to look like crap though? Would love to see GITS get the remastered treatment like Akira and Ninja Scroll. The original version I mean, not that 2.0 version.

Ok, Fair enough.

Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit has been rescued by Viz Media USA (the previous holder was Media Blasters). Blu-ray & DVD to be released in new BD & DVD sets this year.

I asked then that question and they said this:
GL audio: we're checking on this. Aniplex are sending the assets over so we hope so!
If Aniplex are sending over the audio assets then I've no doubt it'll be 2.0 for both tracks. I'm pretty damn sure that AoA just re-pressed Bandai's old discs when they re-released the DVD (which had 5.1 audio), and the JP BD Box has 2.0 audio.

It looks OK too my eyes and it was remastered when it was released on blu ray & 2.0 is the version now as the original is not suitable for HD release.

Going by this from thedigitalfix it wasn't a remastered version that came with 2.0 either "unfortunately they have not opted to us the high-quality HD master that was struck for the Japanese Blu-ray release in 2007. Instead they’ve used an old, poor quality tape master"

Although the highdefdigest review of the Japanese release didn't exactly give it high praise for video quality. However the screenshots I saw some time back, it did look a lot better than what came with 2.0.

Wasn't the original film on 35mm, if so a proper high quality remaster could be done.
