Good thing I decided to get the Funimation release, because this just happened:

With this year rocketing to a close at high speed, we already find ourselves looking towards the first quarter of 2014 and what it has to hold in terms of anime releases - indeed, our own UK Anime release calendar is now up-to-date with all of the confirmed release dates for the start of next year from both MVM Entertainment and Manga Entertainment.

Looking through this list, one item is notable by its absence - although Eureka Seven AO is present and correct, with the first half of the series slated to land on Monday January 6th and the second part arriving on March 10th, we can't help but note that the series will now be released on DVD only with no sign of a Blu-Ray release for the series as previously expected.

As far as we're aware, there are currently no plans to release this Eureka Seven follow-up on Blu-Ray in the UK, meaning that you'll have to stick with DVD if you're planning to pick up the series.
Were you excited to see Eureka Seven AO reach our shores? Will the lack of a Blu-Ray release affect your purchasing decision? Let us know in the comments!
That's cool, that series was an utter farce anyway.

Manga Entertainment's Jerome Mazandarani has further expounding upon this via Twitter, stating: "[Eureka Seven AO] is a small series and we won't sell enough Blu-ray to justify the cost of authoring and inventory."

It's been reported that Samurai Pizza Cats have been bootlegged and sold on Amazon's Marketplace and Ebay under the Discotek Media name. Stick to Rightstuf, UP1 and Amazon's main part to get the legit version.

Be on the lookout for fake Samurai Pizza Cats sets being sold as original Discotek/Eastern Star releases. Someone has started making factory copies of region 1 anime titles using the same cover art as the original and they are using the same UPC to list them. The copied set is in a clear case with no security sticker on the top. Our original sets are in a black 8 disc case with a security sticker on top.

Now for some happy news, Manga sales have increased this year (in the US mainly).

ICv2 posted market reports for graphic novel and manga sales in the United States for 2013 through the first half of the fourth fiscal quarter on Thursday. According to the ICv2 White Paper released at the ICv2 Conference, overall graphic novel sales are up six percent, with manga growing faster than graphic novels overall. ICv2 credits the surge in manga sales to Kodansha's Attack on Titan release, re-issues of Sailor Moon, the overall growth of Yen Press and the success of Yen Press and Seven Seas Entertainment's Alice in the... volumes, and continued sales of popular titles and newer hits by Viz Media.

Until this year, manga sales had dropped in recent years while digital sales have grown.

MVM states that if things go well, Fate Zero could arrive in April. Formats still TBA.

With the Dubbed bluray and dvd sets released in America can you give us an idea how long before we will see Fate/Zero hit our shores.

MVM Entertainment All goes to plan we'll be releasing it in April.

That's good news indeed, hopefully the lessons have been learnt from the flood the market with anything you can days.

Time of Eve Movie update. Note the mention of All the Anime. Is this a hint that they may be distributing it here?

Progress report!

English Dub: We are casting the voice actors this week. NYAV Post has given us amazing choices in the auditions, and this is shaping up to be a very nice dub.

Soundtrack: We are inching closer to clearing "I have a dream", and are optimistic enough to mention it in this update. Hopefully we won't end up with pie on our faces…All the Anime is graciously helping us clear the music rights for the UK. All you folks in the UK, check out their fabulous catalog here!

Package design: This is behind schedule; we had to switch our manufacturing vendor a month ago, and are delayed in getting the necessary templates to our designer, the phenomenal but overbooked Tsuyoshi Kusano. We will be gunning to make up for lost time!

Official Fan Book: Ko Ransom has delivered a stellar translation, which we are copy editing and sending off to our talented layout artist, Nicole Dochych.

There is a lot of other nitty gritty stuff, like getting the ratings from the British Board of Film Classification, ironing out the details in the menu design, fine-tuning the subtitles, and doing a thorough quality check of the Blu-ray menu. We are working hard to ship in January. As we enter the final sprint, we will be putting more detailed updates on twitter (@timeofeve1) and Facebook.

Thank you for your inspiration!!! Time of EVE

PS: 63 hours left to support the Bubblegum Crisis Blu-ray Release on Kickstarter! They are running a truly fantastic campaign! Hats off to AnimEigo!!!

Ah yeah, that would make sense. Wouldn't be surprised if they were handling the BBFC paperwork and stuff. Since we didn't have to pay for international shipping when pledging as a result, this works for me!

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day Movie will be shown in theaters in USA January 2014.
Blue Exorcist series to be shown on Toonami in March 2014.
It was balancing issues for having lossy audio on Fate/Zero.
Aniplex titles will be on sale on Rightstuf in December.

Wait, their Fate/Zero BD has the dub in LOSSY audio? And it's a measly Dolby 2.0 track?! Considering what they charge, I'd certainly be pissed off!

Also I guess the Anohana movie is going to be more expensive than the series itself :p

Fate/Zero's dub is DD 2.0 @ 192kbps. SAO's dub is 640kbps. I suppose I can understand where they are coming from now though as the file sizes for F/Z are much bigger as the video bitrate is pretty much always in the high 30's/40s.

The fourth title in the Scientifc Adventure series (also known as ; ) is unveiled; CHAOS;CHILD.

MAGES music producer Chiyomaru Shikura announced 5pb. and MAGES' fourth science-adventure title, CHAOS;CHILD on Twitter on Saturday. The announcement was first made at the Live5pb.2013 event, also on Saturday.

The staff of the project unveiled the first promotional video at the venue, and revealed that the story will take place in Tokyo's Shibuya district in 2015. A major key in the game's story are “Power Seals,” mysterious seals that are placed all around Shibuya. According to the game's staff, many nods to Chaos;HEAd Noah will be in the game.

The game is scheduled to be released in Japan sometime in 2014.

Not impressed that Aniplex seem to use Lossy audio for the English dubs, or at least with SOA and Fate/Zero.

Why? Use TrueHD or DTS-HD MA. Do the same for the Japanese audio as well.

It's been reported that Eureka Seven will arrive from Funimation, as some people have witnessed a trailer promoting the series in one of the latest One Piece voyages.

It's been sighted that it could arrive around late January with the TV and Film (separately).

Yakumo said:
But isn't PCM an uncompressed, and therefore lossless, format?

It is but it's a raw uncompressed track. TrueHD and DTS-HD MA are lossless but compressed, so the file size will be smaller but you will have the same audio.

Funimation also confirmed that it will release the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD, but could not provide any further details about the release at this time.

Wouldn't using PCM save on licensing fees though?

Honestly I don't know. At a guess, I would say yes.

However if they had used one of those two, then they may have had the space to do the English audio as a lossless track and not lossy.
