The General Conversation Area

I decided to plug in my old desktop (not used since December 13) to give it some updates as I have a potential use for it...

...6 hours later with the 5th round of windows updates it appears to be completed updating. :)

On a quiet weekend I decided to tidy up the former bedroom the laptop set-up is in, managed to fill my car up with junk to take to the dump (old chair, old TV, old mini hi-fi system, some old pillows etc). Feels nice and clean until more stuff is dumped in here :(

It's my 29th birthday today guys. That's rather deprEssing writing that lol. Had a meal out last night at a usa themed restaurant called coast to coast here in Birmingham. Got a family gathering tonight then going my mates on Saturday for a day of watching football and watching films! Exciting stuff lol.

Big 30 next year. Think I'm gonna have to go to the west coast and then vegas or something!
Happy birthday Britguy.

Glad that you had a great b-day, britguy. Sorry it's this late, but I've been away.

Speaking of which, I arrived home yesterday from spending the weekend in London - Went to the One Piece orchestral performance after a 7hr bus trip. It was a present from a friend at Xmas so we both went down to watch/listen to it.
As it were, I thought that big screen was going to show unique clips of the characters "interacting" with the crowd with "Hello everyone!" and "This next song is" or some bizarre humorous event. But it was just the names of the songs about to be played and clips from the series - some I seen and others not.
However, putting that aside, we went there for the performance of the orchestra - and it blew the house down! Some fans came down in cosplay, of which I was surprised because I was informed the dress code was "smart-casual" and Luffy doesn't do that... lol. I was WAY too overdressed compared to the others. But the sounds from the instruments were amazing, and you can see how much the people got involved in the music, both players and crowd. Fingers and hands moving like daemons possessing them.
I think we had technically 3 encores, but the final one was from Mr Tanaka conducting "We Are."

Not much was spent on the days as we were both skint, but I got a programme at least - Need some proof-reading in a couple of places, but decent enough.

Apologies for the very late greeting but happy birthday Britguy.

I've been struck by a rather annoying cold over the past few days and worse of all I've got a test resit tomorrow, which I was hoping to revise a lot on but backfired due to the cold (I can't really concentrate with my head feeling drowsy). I did manage to go to Uni today and get some revision done but I keep getting a runny nose which is annoying. So I plan to get to the test tomorrow afternoon but take the rest of the week off (therefore missing about 2 lessons, one tomorrow morning and another thursday afternoon) unless things change and I get better. Maybe this is the perfect time to watch more anime (still got a massive backlog, as seen via MAL) but who knows.

On the positive side of things, I managed to sort out the Wireless at our flat. The Wi-Fi was very dodgy over the past two months and pretty much everyone in the flat couldn't be asked to fix it since we've got Ethernet cables. I wanted to get it out of the way since switching between laptop to PS3 for the cable is annoying, so I contacted ASK4 via support ticket and after an hour of waiting for a response they found the issue we're experiencing (something about the access point/IP address gone wrong and at some point will require some new cables, the call was very quiet so it was hard for me to understand what exactly went wrong) and have improved the wireless. It's still not 100% fixed but they said it will take a while to sort out (about a week). I also got an update from United Publications with regards to the ef visual novel, they said they're waiting for more stock (which is expected to arrive next week) so hopefully it will arrive then.

New fridge/freezer has arrived...

...quite a bit smaller than the old one, oops.

And another TMA submitted for my OU course, time to relax before starting on the HR block.

Happy Belated Birthday Britguy!

I've made a move, I've asked my old friend I met through work who now works where I do, to go to the Casino Night works holding with me next week.

I've also joined a FB convo with a bunch of people most younger than me who arrange meetups. Hopefully one day I'll convince myself to go to one.

Atm I again feel ok not having friends. Me and my Mum are ok again and my BF and I are doing, ok bar the odd issue. We don't make a big deal of val day. It's just an excuse for us to go for a meal and not feel bad about spending so much on it lol.

I never normally post in this thread, but thought I'd ask a a question.

I anyone planning going to any conventions or events this year.

My only plans so far are:

Off to Telford on Saturday. Though all MCM cons are good for me really is to spend a bit of money. I'll be there nice and early as normal. I want to see the Red Dwarf event at 11am but that's about it, I know I'll of bought everything I want to get by 11 so I can see myself watching the Red Dwarf bit and then going home. It might be different if any of my friends were into anime or anything sci-fi, but none are so I go by myself.

Next I'll be off down to London on what looks like the 6th of June for the Sci-Fi London anime-allnighter for the 11th time. On there facebook page it says the festival is 30th May till 6th June. The anime night is normally at the end of the festival. Around £80 (including travel, which costs more than the event) for a night of anime at the cinema is all right be me.

Then if they have it on Sci-Fi London's Octoberfest anime all-nighter if its one. It wasn't last year so it might not be again.

Not much this year for me, unless something else comes up.

Though I want to start watching Gundam which is an event in itself.

I plan to go to MCM London Comic Con in May, however it depends on whether my flatmates will be going as well (don't really want to go on my own). At least I'll remind myself not to buy any visual novels when I'm there as I ended up paying $165 when the two visual novels (Saya no Uta & School Days HQ) could of cost me about £40 overall back at MCM London October.

I'm tempted to say I'll probably give the May one a miss as I still have a massive backlog to work through, and should really steer clear from buying anything else. But if it looks like there's going to be a good show from the UK distributors / exclusives from the likes of Animatsu / Anime Ltd etc. I might be tempted.

I want to go to May. If I go to May I want to stay over. That will be almost impossible with all nearby hotels being sold out. I'd want to go to Sunday for less queueus but I know not all guests would be there Sunday?

Today doesn't feel like Friday. I'm worried my weekend won't feel like a weekend.

This has been the longest week of the year so far for me. Eugh. Was well ill yesterday, asked my Manager if I could go home at 11.50 then went home and slept on the sofa till 2.50. I feel much better from it and its more in my throat and no longer my head now. I think I'm getting a coldsore though so I'm definitely run down.

Enjoy your trip, Kite.

I might go to MCM in May. I think I'll be finished uni by then, so it'd be nice but I have a horrible feeling it might clash with something else I've already arranged.

Enjoy the trip Kite.

Feeling a bit better today myself after picking up a cold around Thursday. Helps that I got paid on Friday (been working for a month now in my current job) plus Liverpool came from a goal down to win in the FA Cup today.

I had a cold on Thursday too, but that was mostly down to idiocy as I was feeling iffy but decided to go the WBA Swansea game on Wednesday night, been a terrible few days and I missed the hammering of West Ham today too :( watching it on TV isn't the same lol

Just dropping by.

It's nice to see the place is still ticking along, hope you've all been well.

To recap what i've been upto since i last posted here; Quit my job in the NHS, went back to recruitment and now work in the HQ for BlueArrow Agency building services and ticking along nicely, I've also joined the police force and am currently undergoing training, the view is to complete the precision driving test and become an interceptor.

I'm still not engaged/married but me and my missus will be celebrating our 6th year anniversary in April and hope to have enough money built up soon to get ourselves a house. I've spent the past few months building my own car club and now have over 550 members and 3 official sponsors, i'm trying to build a club that focuses more on a more mature audience than the typical enthusiast and thankfully everything seems to be going well.

Why've i suddenly come back for a one off post? Well i was watching Dragonball on Showbox and looked up to my DVD collection and realized i have a huge backlog to start breaking down and from that train of thought i remembered this place, so i leave you now -again, to once again try and break through the bulk of this backlog :)

:thumb: see you guys and girls around.

I'm definitely struggling with my backlog at the moment too - not that watching anime should ever be a chore, but I'm finding my attention span is pretty short at the moment and I end up chopping and changing between a good few shows at once instead of just sticking with one thing.

Happy New (lunar) Year everybody :)

The flight from Shanghai to Beijing this evening was an experience I won't forget, 2 hour fireworks show.
