The General Conversation Area

Glad to hear that your dad is okay NormanicGrav!

Also guys, imagine the look on my face when my grandfather told me that in the 1970s, the PTA of the village school was basically a secret wife-swap party society where after PTA social events, the male members would put their keys into a basket, which a woman would select from random and.....you get the gist. Apparently my grandparents objected to being part of it (despite my grandpa being the head of the PTA) but still.

And here I thought the village was boring. Now all the innocent old people I see aren't as innocent as I thought (and imagine the look on someone's face when they picked up their husband's keys xD).

Glad to hear your dad is doing fine NormanicGrav. Last time my dad was in hospital he did not enjoy the food (one time he had to ask for a sandwich since he did not like what he had been given).

I recently underwent a brief hospital scan. One would imagine that a large utilitarian building would allow accessibility to any floor without leaving one's current wing, though this was an oversight in the case in question.

Said demerit aside, my impressions were unfalteringly positive. The hospital even had its own Sainsbury's.

Having the week off work due to my back and sciatica is a bit of a mixed blessing for me at the moment. On the one side, i'm losing out on about 30 hours this week, but on the other hand i can actually get work done, catch up on things proper and make progress in stuff. As such, don't be too scared if you see me post a little more regularly for the next wee bit.

Apparently, Marvel aren't showing the post-credits scene with any Guardians of the Galaxy screenings before the general release date.

I'm so tempted to not pay the money to go to Ipswich to the première and just see it next week instead.

I'm hoping so, it's helped a bit so far, and i'm only about 2 days in. Shoulder still gives me grief mind you, as does my leg, but it's not as severe as before.
Fear not, i at least aim to get at least 4-5 posts in a day >_>

For those who don't know, I now work from home.

One of the houses behind me are really testing my patience, they have two kids and they just scream constantly for 12 hours every day, full on high pitched tantrums. The parents then scream at them for screaming and if a dog barks, they shout at the dog.

Annoyingly, my bedroom is the closest to their house so I get the worst of it and it's actually been giving me migraines, almost daily.

Call the police or report it to the council? I did that with screaming neighbours the other evening. If it's been causing you migraines then definitely report it.

i would call the police possibly, if it's causing distress or public nuisance then i think that's the best course of action. Especially if you work at home, the last thing you need is a migraine/headache when working to a deadline.

On another note, i've found very quickly that someone is trying to scam me. I've only had 6 phone calls from varying numbers all ending in 051 in the last 8 hours and i've ignored them all. I've not had a car crash thanks, i've not made a claim for an accident and no, i don't have issues with my computer. Next time i call em, i'm recording it so they know full well what they are dealing with.

I just answer it and leave them with some hold music :D

Screaming kids wise police won't do much but have a word, what you need is to try and get a Db reader and record how loud the noise they make is, and then take it to the police/council.

I've just realised that I don't know much about you guys probably because I don't frequent the forum enough or interact with you guys enough, but I'm curious, what do you all do? Do we have a mix of school kids, uni goers, employed adults, job hunters etc?

I'm 28 and I work in the fascinating world of Export documentation at a Chamber of Commerce, how about you?

I'm studying a degree called Commercial Music. I'm going into 4th and final year in September. I also work in Next, part time during the semester but full time at the moment over the summer.

Believe it or not, I'm 19 and I'm a Uni student. I've finished my first year a month ago and I am studying Games Software Development which is rather challenging but the maths section is so fun. I don't have a job but I'll be doing Work Experience next year as part of the course.

I'm 24 and work for M&S. I've got a degree in sports journalism but I've not been able to get a job in the industry, so focusing on the retail career path now.
