Hey chaos. You have savings accounts? No matter what my income, I always end each month with £0. It's the only way I know to live.
Been there, done that. But, when I've left Brazil, the average credit card interest over a year was over 280% per year, so last thing you want is to get into debt. That sort of thing makes me put a large sum of my income straight into a saving account and other investments, then everything else that's left in my current account is spent. Sometimes I do have cash flow issues, as I tend not to leave much in my current account, but if I don't have at least the equivalent of a year's rent, I save like crazy. My income increased considerably with the new job, which also helps a lot.
My plan is to save enough money to buy me a nice house / flat once I get permanent residency. Right now, the rates that I can get are outrageous and the deposit is huge, because I'm considered high risk.

When are you off to Japan? Wish I was going... a girl I work with now lived in Japan for a while, just makes me want to go even more.
I'm going on the 13th. Want some Omyiagy? I don't plan to buy a lot there, but I'm pretty sure that will change once I step in the country
I'm glad that credit cards exists =D

I'm hopeful this week will tick over nicely work-wise. Today has been near perfect; enough to keep me occupied but still time for the odd coffee break. Last week things were painfully slow (it was like all our customers disappeared) but that wears you out so much more. I'd rather be working than clock-watching.
My new job has been like that as well. First week was pretty laid back, second was a bit better and now the third week came and things are moving in a nice pace. Hopefully, I'll be able to deliver what I need to before I head off to Japan.

Ouch, thats worse than me, i used to have a few grand in the savings account....now i'm constant building up a couple of hundred a week but then having to dip into it again straight away
Just put aside a part of your salary and never touch it, unless you have a real emergency. That's what works for me, at least.

Wish Kayls was working near me! Can't beat discount Pizza (unless it's free of course). =P
Which reminds me that no one commented on Tachi's pizzeria that I've posted a while back...

Wholesale selling to retail (but higher end sales y'know, I don't sit on a checkout in a warehouse - I have a desk and a phone and everything...) and God, how much I love dealing with business people compared to those unreasonable f*ckt*rds that comprise the general public. Just waiting for my chance to grab the next rung and open a factory... Seriously though, now I know the kind of mark-up which goes on imported goods I realise the extent to which someone could dominate any retail market by cutting out all the layers of middlemen.
I've had a business case to re-sell Shiseido products in Brazil, we were planning to mark up by 200% and that was still cheaper than the prices you could find in some places. Now that I do have my own business, I'm planning on how to take over the world.... =)
As per dealing with business people, it's a whole new ball game. It's a lot less stressful, I think. That's why I like to work for the big companies, to work for small companies reporting straight to the owner is the worst experience I've ever had...
