I couldn't get into Spirited Away, in any way...Totoro just seems so innocent in it's story and that's what I loved about it. Nothing too heavy in terms of political messages or character motives. I wasn't even keen on The Cat Returns (shock) so it makes me wonder is it perhaps his style of story-telling/writing that I'm not totally keen on? I mean, as a woman, I do love how he projects his female characters as strong and independent, which is always great to see...but...I dunno...

That sounds awesome dude, and she loved it too! ^^I love all the Ghiblis. One of my happiest 'being a dad' experiences was watching Arriety with my five year old daughter and her saying she loved it, better than her first steps

The Cat Returns is a funny one, because it's the least Ghibli of all the Ghibli films. The director is Hiroyuki Morita, and it's his only Ghibli outing; they never did let him do another one. Which I think's an awful shame, because it's one of my favourites.
