The Gaming News Thread (for news that doesn't need a thread)

Re: The Gaming News Thread (for news that doesn't need a thr

That's just amazon being a bunch of brainless morons since shopto have had it listed for pre-order (even when they stupidly thought it was being released in March) for ages and they list the publisher as ATLUS.

Interesting Vita news.

Another thing I was expecting to hear more about this year was the PlayStation Vita handheld. What’s going on with that product line?
Layden: I think there’s 100 games coming out this year across the Vita platform. I think it’s a great platform for independent developers. They’re seeing a lot of opportunity across that. And it’s certainly a very vital and vibrant platform in the crucial Japan and Asia markets. So, yeah, we’re still in the Vita business. We’re still using it to bring new experiences. I think the cost of entry for a developer is probably more friendly than doing a full-blown, triple-A PS4 title.

Are you happy with the sales performance of the Vita here in the US?
Yeah. In fact, we sold more than we had internally targeted last year. We saw some issues in the market last year with supply constraint, which was kind of a surprise. I still believe it’s the best hand held gaming experience as far as what it brings you from technology and screen resolution. PlayStation Now, our streaming gaming service, is supported by Vita, so that’s bringing new users. And the fact that Vita got to support remote play for PS4, that caused a huge spike in sales, which we’re still kind of chasing.

Is there a questions thread for gaming? I'll post here for now because it's sort of relevant.

Is Omega Quintet any good? I saw it in the PS4 sale and was considering giving it a go. I might hold off since I have a few things to play already but it'd be handy to know for the future at least.

Good to see the Vita's not totally dead, especially given I bought one a few months back, tons of jrpgs still coming out :)

It'd be nice to think it might rise from the dead in the US, it's a pretty powerful machine really (probably too powerful on launch really as it scared developers away, no one want's to sink PS3 levels of budget into a smaller handheld market)

It's been said already but there's a pretty fantastic sale going on in the PlayStation store at the moment, snagged a HDNeptunia game for 50% off (slightly annoyed there are also games with 40-50% off that I bought physically recently too  ) and might buy 3-5 other games depending on how mad I go.

It's OK. Just OK. If you like Hyperdimension Neptunia, you'd probably like this too. There are plenty of better games around though...I wouldn't say it was worth any more than about £25.

Bandai Namco have provided some interesting news lately from the Japan Expo:

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden will have a special black Nintendo 3DS bundle with cover plates and a pre-installed copy of Extreme Butoden and a Japanese version of the Super Famicom game Dragon Ball Z: Super Butoden 2 (no English translation, similar to some titles from the Wii's Virtual Console Hanabi Festival).

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Collector's Edition details have been revealed. The set will provide the following:
a Naruto figurine from The Last -Naruto the Movie-, a metal plate with an exclusive illustration, a "FuturePack," a "Storm Memories" artbook, and a collector's box.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 will have pre-order bonuses including 2 missions and 2 costumes for free. The new trailer also covers the Punk Hazard arc from the manga.

Project x Zone 2 receives a new promo trailer. More than 30 characters will be playable in the game.

Sword Art Online: Re:Hollow Fragment will provide a much better English translation. However they have no plans to apply this to the Vita version.

Tales of Symphonia HD will be coming to PC via Steam in 2016.

Tales of Zestiria will be receiving a Collector's Edition for Europe, here's what coming with it:
4 Chibi Kyun Chara figures, a Lady of the Lake sanctuary cloth artwork, a hardback artbook, a 30-minute anime DVD, a selected soundtrack from the game, an exclusive Normin metal case, and the collector's edition box. Those who purchase the game at launch, regardless of edition, will also get a free bonus "Exclusive Mystic Arte DLC" for Mikleo, Lailah, and Alisha. Those who purchase the game at launch will also get an additional chapter featuring Alisha's story for free for a limited time.

Thanks, I haven't played Hyperdimension Neptunia either but I guess I get the general idea. Will probably hold off until a quieter time (and maybe when it's cheaper).

Hello, in case anyone hasn't been on twitter today yet, we've been having a pretty nice #SaveShenmue day. There are also new rewards on the kickstarter page, including the much demanded PS4 physical copy of the game, and even various opportunities to have your face featured in the game (I know I would, if I had the money). The kickstarter has really sprung back into life today and Shenmue 3 now has more than $4,100,000 pledged. But, this isn't the end yet and Yu Suzuki still needs all our support to help make Shenmue 3 the best it can be, and as close to his true vision as possible. So let's do all we can.

Yu will also be answering questions on twitter at 7pm PDT.

I think they're probably a little bit worried about how the KS has kind of lost steam after E3 week. If they genuinely expected to hit all those stretch goals, I think they forgot why they had to stop making the games in the first place.

First Persona 4 Dancing All Night English trailers are out.

http://gematsu.com/2015/07/persona-4-da ... creenshots

Hearing that new Rise VA really breaks my heart. Rise is my favourite girl from Persona 4 and it really saddens me Laura Bailey finally dropped out. What's worse is they didn't even try and find a sound alike like they did when they replaced Troy Baker, this new VA sounds nothing like Laura. It's genuinely made me less interested in the game. As much as I love Persona 4 more than just about anything, the way that it hemorrhages voice actors is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure out of the main cast, only Yu and Yosuke have the same voice actors from the initial PS2 release. Thank God we still have YJB.

It's strange this seems to happen way more often in gaming than in anime - maybe it's to do with pay? I know a few people talked about certain well known VAs moving into the Hollywood system as the pay was better, hence why they don't do as much anime work these days.

I know Laura Bailey said it was due to scheduling that she couldn't do it but IDK about the others. I mean some of them are obvious, like Troy Baker wasn't doing much in 2008 but by the time they started making spin off games and the like, his popularity was through the roof, so it wouldn't surprise me if he demanded more money was just really busy but others I'm not so sure about.
