Goodness, I must be bored.
My avatar is of Yoko, the gun-totin', foxy lady from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. She's supposedly one of the three main protagonists of the series, but, thanks to Gainax being a bunch of mysoginists, she never has any impact upon the plot. Nonetheless, she makes for a vibrant and instantly endearing avatar, not least because of her bright smile and brighter hair. I downloaded the original image, which was hooooge, and tinkered around with it in GIMP to sharpen the tone and make her hair look as red as in the anime rather than the dull pink it was in the source. I used to switch my avatars periodically, but since people often comment on the Yoko one, and I have grown fond of it, I now wear it in all the forums I visit.

My monkey couple was just a test, so here's one of the main characters. I'm unsure of their names but they where all walking at the bottom of the main page I had to pick them up.
It's a shame, but they'd be really swell looking in a custom siggy, all in all I'll put them on my imageshack account for safe keeping
