i guess they bank on US fans to not bother looking on Amazon JP to make more money - even if they do though, the parent company, Aniplex still receive the money right? Win win for them.

Are the Madoka sets just flat out completely unavailable? Even used? I'd be very interested in getting the Aniplex sets so long as the prices aren't crazy. I think I'd like ~£100 per set or something, maybe a little more but nothing over like £120 or £130.
Well you can find them on eBay if you're lucky... but expect the price to be pretty high.
I saw parts 1 and 2 on there recently. $130 and $290. With eBay's GSP you can add $25 shipping and the prepaid import fees... And they weren't even brand new (albeit in good condition).
By the way, the guy was also selling some other OOP sets and I thought it'd be interesting to see how much people are ready to pay so here are the winning bids for some of them.

Speaking of licenses - do we think AoA will have the rights to Seven Deadly Sins? The reason I ask is because season 2 has just been announced and I know the first season still hasn't got a US licensor as of yet (forgive me if I am mistaken).

It all depends on Season 1 to be honest. Aniplex said in one of their livestreams/podcasts that the series is currently in the middle of a bidding war. Netflix was also rumoured to have the streaming rights according to Crunchyroll France and just recently it's been added to Netflix Germany and Netflix Japan.

I can't guess on who will get the license in the states but I can see Anime Limited picking up the UK rights once everything calms down.

Might be missing something, but it seems UP1USA no longer has The Irregular at Magic High School 1 in their catalog. There is a Volume 1 on when searching but this seems to be a regular edition ?

Not to worry it's still there. Aniplex just doesn't list them as Limited Editions but as Volumes/Sets which is odd. Out of the whole Volumes type releases only Monogatari and ALDNOAH.ZERO have Limited Edition added to the product. I would assume that these Volumes releases are here to stay until a more complete set is available to Aniplex.

Thanks, guess the price difference between set 1 at $89.98 and set 2 at $135.98 also threw me off a bit in thinking that Set 1 was somehow a regular edition.

Yeah the price difference is rather weird with Mahouka. It's because Aniplex decided to split the series by arc (like Monogatari); Set 1 has 7 episodes, Set 2 has 11 episodes and Set 3 has 8 episodes. It's just baffling but I guess it allows folks to buy their favourite arc instead of the entire series.

I've never used Rightstuf before so I'm not familiar with their terminology but what does Out of stock generally imply? Bakemonogatari's currently listed as such.

Out of Stock simply means Rightstuf don't have any in stock at the moment. But in certain cases it may also mean that it's gone out of print.

Interesting, sounds like it could be selling out after its initial release in November 2012. It's on a second print run so I wonder if Aniplex will restock or discontinue the set.

The other Aniplex sets are still in stock.

Yeah that's why I asked, I realised that it was a different message from the one on Fate/Zero part 1 but it wouldn't have surprised me if it was a prelude to its OOP status.
Thanks.

Are you planning on getting the set? I feel it's worth the value especially with the Aniplex quality discs and a nice box. Same for Nise.
