The 3DS(updated Page 7)

I love announcements of announcements, the video game industry has really jumped on them the last couple of years.
Yeah me too. I haven't done so recently but when you get into the speculation game its an awful lot of fun.

this kid ikarus makes me want a 3ds.... although, I'm just buying games, but never playing them lately :/

I've been doing that for years. ^^; See a game I want and buy it, but never find the time to play them all.

Yep. Me too. Games look awesome but are such an effort to play. Time-consuming as well.

Yeah, it really is the time consumption issue for me. There are loads of games I would love to play (and do buy), but just can't give the amount of time over to them when you weigh it up against how much other stuff you can get done in the same amount of time.

For those interested, we're scheduled to get a 3DS announcement of some form on the 29th of September at 5am our time. Nintendo haven't exactly mentioned how they are going to announce the details for it, but we'll know next wednesday.

People are speculating though that it's more and more likely that the release date for it will actually be november 20th or 21st with certain pieces of news and a developer tweeting the release date but the account and message quickly being removed soon after. We'll know all by next wednesday at least.

Yeah, November is bad for me, too. In fact, November-February is bad for me, so I don't think I'll be able to get one straight away whatever happens. :( I really want one. ;_;

The thing that worries me about this are all the reports that you have to be in a specific spot for the 3D to actually work... move just a little bit to the side and everything goes gobbledegook .

Capcom have said that Resident Evil: Revelations has been made using the same engine as 5, so the thing must have some meaty grunt beneath the hood.

Why am I just now realising how awesome the 3DS is? Nintendo seriously phased out of my mind the past year or so. I even came into this thread without "really" noticing anything. Or anywhere else when it was talked about. I want to try it out for myself, and I think I'm almost definitely getting one of these. Very happy I finally took notice.

The Metal Gear Videos won me over. It just looks so awesome.

Even though Nintendo's press conference is two days away... a German tabloid has beaten them to it...

Sad news for Europe, then :(

Chances are it's not true anyway. I see it that it would make far more sense to release it worldwide for Christmas since Sony and Microsoft have hardware releases and a few other factors. Also Pokemon Black and White are out next spring and releasing it alongside them seems rather daft as Pokemon could very well shadow the machine’s launch.

Pokemon is STILL relevant.

You mean the German newspaper? Apparently they aren't that reliable when it comes to the news. I would hold out on believing that, at least until wednesday, since then we'll get legitimate news on the 3DS.

Nintendo have a history of november releases, so that never surprised me, but i have a feeling that us getting it in Q1 next year is close to bollocks.

@Stu: the thing is, The playstation move and Kinect are set for a holiday release, so if Nintendo release the 3DS in november, then that would literally take all their sales away, so it'd make sense for a holiday release more than the end of the sales year.

True, but they could use the holidays to give the DS one final push for sales, with some price cuts before jumping ship in march.
I mean, the ds sold well regardless of march release so people who want it will buy it anyway.
Everyone who wanted a DS has got at least one (I have both an original and Lite). Pushing for more DS sales makes as much sense as remarketing the PS2.

This is quite true, and they'll probably sell some DS's anyway if people don't go for the 3D effect. I mean just because they's a PS3 doesn't mean people stopped buying PS2s straight away.

They have sold 1 more DS Lite (I ordered a black one from Zavvi - my brother gave me his old DS a while ago but I have been meaning to get my own DS for some time now).

I've been saying this for years about the DS in Japan, as well as other places. Still sells like hotcakes.

Not that I would release the 3DS at any time other than the holidays, either, mind.
