Summer 2015 Legal Anime Streaming Thread

Well, they have had FUNi stuff in non-English regions before I believe, so it could still be FUNi stuff if they're negotiation other regions with Japan before announcing anything.

We know we haven't made the big announcement for simulcasts yet, but we promise it will be worth the wait.

When asked, they've been claiming the hold up is to try and negotiate as many regions as possible. So FUNi stuff is probably out (as FUNi would probably only sell them UK & Ireland rights).

If it isn't FUNi stuff, is there anything else big that they could possibly have? I suppose maybe Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei Herz, nobody's announced they have that yet...

I wouldn't out-rule Funimation. Previous Funimation titles have been on Viewster for European zones as Shiroi has stated (with a couple being made available for the UK & Ireland) so it's possible we might get some.

With regards to Fate, Crunchyroll will most likely have it as they generally don't announce their latest simulcast titles until the show is about to air.

Generally through separate deals though.

And I gathered Crunchyroll would have Fate/. (As an aside, who the hell thought that was a good name for a show? I'm assuming the original Japanese titles is a little less of a mouthful.)

What confuses me is apparently 2wei Hertz is based on the second half of the 2wei manga. So if a fourth season happens it would be called Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3wei.

Wooo :3 The one I've been waiting for.

Another new simulcast for Crunchyroll, Danchigai. It will be available on Thursdays from 6:30pm

The latest addition to Crunchyroll's summer 2015 anime lineup is Danchigai. Based on the four-panel manga by Kazusa Yoneda, Danchigai episodes will broadcast every Thursday starting July 9 at 10:30am Pacific Time.

Danchigai will be available to Crunchyroll members worldwide except for Japan.

Looks like Viewster has listened to people's complaints about irregular scheduling, and added countdown clocks to their home page for Ultimate Otaku Teacher, Heroic Legend of Arslan, Baby Steps and Aoharu x Kikanju, whereas before only Naruto: Shippunden had one. Be interesting to see if they keep to them...

BLOCKED [SIMULCAST!]:

Gangsta. - Starts streaming Saturday 4:30pm
Site: Crunchyroll
..available to French Language users in the following territories: France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, Andorra, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Quebec & New Caledonia.

Both titles have been picked up by Funimation so it's obvious the Crunchyroll additions are for the non-English territories.

Glad we have easy access to Gakkou Grashi!.

Hoping two things for Viewster:

1) Eureka Seven wasn't the big announcement (lol).

2) They make the big announcement before the next season starts.

I'd say Gangsta will probably end up on Viewster for us. Crunchyroll list the publisher for their French stream as Anime Limited.

Is something even a 'big announcement' if you can't even get said announcement live before the 'official' start of the new season? Appreciate that contracts probably take an age to get over the line, and as always, I appreciate what Viewster are doing, but you kind of feel like they should be striking while the iron's hot and people are getting fired up by these shows. If it comes even a week late, you've sort of already semi-defeated the point of a simulcast.

Ah well, silver lining.

If Anime Ltd. licensed the French-language version to Crunchyroll, why wouldn't they bundle the English-language version with it for the UK & Ireland? It makes no sense to negotiate with two different sites, when both of them serve all the territories in question and are more than capable of hosting two different versions. Also, if Viewster has the rights why would they be sitting on the announcements? I don't think they have a panel at Hyper-Japan or anything, so they won't be saving the announcement for that.

But "Anime Limited" is weird, the French company generally goes by "@Anime" or "All the Anime", so perhaps the deal was brokered by the UK arm or something.

I hear Chaos Dragon is the season's biggest disappointment, so we should probably be thankful FUNi have saved us from that.

How could something with both "Chaos" and "Dragon" in it be bad? That makes no sense.

Apparently the biggest problem people have said is that:
- the main character is a whinny muppet
- people are getting killed off with barely any reason to care for them
- the ending of each episode spoils who would die next
- the pacing is rather fast

The disappointing part is that it has characters created by Kinoko Naus (Fate/Stay Night), Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-Pass) and Ryōgo Narita (Durarara!!) and light novelis Izuki Kogyoku. It has been described as Silver Link trying to be ufotable...

However, it's based on a tabletop RPG game they all played together, so I have no clue why anybody was expecting to be good...

The common complaint on ANN seems to be that Silver Link have bitten off way more than they can chew, and the animation is disastrous.

It would be good if they did some 4th wall breaking about RPing. By good I mean intentionally funny isn't steady of the hilarity that it is now.
