Street Fighter IV!!!!!!!!

Gameshark (the official MadCatz store) has preorders back up for all the sticks and pads, presumably for a limited time. The only drawback is that, since they're the official store, the prices are all RRP.

I realy dont know what to do about the fightstick. Thing is im discovering from Street Fighter Alpha that I sadly suck at the game on a D-Pad. Is a joystick easier to use than a D-Pad??

I can see myself srsly enjoying this game but, the Alpha versions learning curve is non existant. Theres no move list even

Joystick is indeed easier to use than a D-pad, but its still not the same as the fightsticks. Its a much cheaper alternative to it as well, obviously.

Ah well, I just hope SFIV has some sort of learning curve so I can ease in. Or a VS mode against com, on Alpha its all against the COM, and theres no cancel selection button when you get to the Character Select screen lol. Its annoying cause its PS1 load times too.

From what i played, its around the same style of gameplay of SFII, and there is a training mode i expect, so it shouldn't be too bad. The other way of getting used to it of course is getting a friend to play along with you, or give you a few tips on what combos to do and so on.

Really? I thought they would of gotten rid of that in the emulation, i mean there's no excuse for that, especailly on an old game like SF Alpha 1. Personally i'm going with the fightpad over fightstick, i just don't have the space for one of them. Plus i've never had too much trouble pulling off the moves with a D pad (for the characters i use anyway)

I also never realised how long it took to load up a game on PS1. Like in comparison to this gen. I mean, all the **** at the beggining. Jeeeez.

There is an excellent looking training mode in SFIV, the Challenge Mode. It will take you through all the different techniques and moves for each character, right from the very basics all the way through to truly high-level stuff that 98% of people won't even be able to pull off.

Oh? i didn't actually know that. Thats going to be pretty sweet actually, and i'll definitely be looking forward to some online matches after a few goes on that.

Oh yeah, i saw only one real problem with the machines they had there with IV on it, and that was really the frame rate, it felt a bit sluggish, but it still played nicely bar that.

That sounds great. Thing is I want this game for when I'm over a mates having a couple of beers so we can all play kinda thing. Not tournament. Sure in my own time i'll b e taking my console upstairs to bash away some boredom while being aroused by sight of Chun Li's kicks, but mainly for the casual approach. However, I want to kick my mates asses even if I'm drunk, so I need to be gooood.

Basically, I think all the console-specific characters and the boss characters are locked, and are unlocked by beating arcade mode with one of the "default" characters.

So no Dan, Gen, Fei, Rose, Sakura, Cammy, Akuma, Gouken or Seth at first iirc.

That does sound pretty cool and something that i'll be using a lot, any idea on what characters are going to be available from the get go?

I'd expect a fair few. As i said earlier, when i got on it at GameStation, there was the original SFII cast(not turbo, where you had cammy, fei long..etc) already available, along with i believe 3-4 new characters plus akuma as a secret one. I'd expect a lot of them will be available straight off the bat, character unlockables however i don't know. I do know however that as you play, you unlock extra costumes for the characters, and its not just colour changes this time round, its actual costume changes. The Collectors Edition comes with..i think they told me 5 or so extra ones. So there is still stuff to unlock, even if it doesn't turn out to be characters.

EDIT: Ok, beaten to the post, so there will be Characters unlocked(and sakura annoyingly too) so thats me told =p

All of them. The arcade version never had most of the named characters originally, so they decided to add all the other characters to the consoles instead.

Thanks, wait when did i miss Gen being announced? He became one of my favourite characters to use in Alpha 3.

Unfortunatly i'll be making do with just the standard edition of the game, i would love to have the money for the collectors edition

OH. I thought he meant like PS3 exclusive and 360 exclusive

I am displeased with the lack of actual new characters. Where's the Third Strike cast? Capcom are just aiming this at SF:II fans, but I don't feel angry... I love Capcom too much, favourite developers this gen.

I'm not sure where i heard this now but i remember reading a while back that storyline wise this took place after SF2 and before SF3 which makes sense that Bison is offically dead in SF3

There is an anime aftermath video available to watch on Gametrailers which takes place after SFII, so my guess was that IV was set after II, but i guess before III.
