I don't know if i'll get the fightpad, but i have set my pre-order already for the special edition of the game, so i'm all set for it. Capcom are setting up a competition i think at Gamestation in Princes Street as well as bringing SFIV in for people to play from the 29th through to the 2nd or 3rd i believe, so i'm going to head down there and get a shot of it to see how it plays in comparison to the others.

Sadly I wont so please tell me how it goes :p

Do a flying bird kick for me, will yeh? ;)

Hah, as much as i like Chun Li, i mainly use Sakura. Annoyingly i have no SF games here at the flat with her in it, so i can't really get back used to how i used to fight with her, so if i do get a chance to have a go on it, i expect to lose a fair bit at first.

So now its less than a month, anyone else getting super hyped for this game?
Absolutely! Got the Tournament Edition Fightstick and the Collector's Edition of the game preordered. Can. Not. Wait.

In the meantime, if anyone wants some games of SSFIITHDR on Live, feel free to add me. Gamertag is stray dog renji. I'm very much below average, but not completely and utterly crap.

Hang on... The Tournament edition is like $160!?!?! I'm going for the cheaper Fightstick :lol: I aint got that much money for a controller. No way.

Yeah, it's even harder to legitimize it to people who don't really know games.

"So, you're spending £130 on a gamepad?"

"Well, not exactly - you can't even really use it for anything other than arcade style games"

"You're spending £130 on a gamepad... just for Streetfighter IV?!?!"

"No... I'll play SFII with it, too." ^^;

Wow its Steel Battalion all over again :p (funny that was a capcom game as well...) In regards with SFIV i'm on and off about it, i'll probably end up getting it though but with money troubles i'll have to make do with the bog standard edition, though i'll have to start practising again if i do get it

Hah, i'm an big gamer, but i couldn't see me spending a lot on a controller, sure i'd spend a good amount for one that works well, but too much. Still I buy collector's editions all the time, so i guess it evens out somehow.

I can't get the hang of SFII Turbo HD Remix, everytime i reach vega, i just lose. I can reach there without losing then he beats me. So i'm still to fight akuma =/

Yeah, between the four bosses there's no one character I can use and beat them all with. The CPU AI has always been slightly cheaty on SFII, though. Can't get to Akuma, and I can't get five perfects, either.

I wish I had that kinda money to waste. :lol:

Cheap stick for me. Definately.

well, I'd seen prices ranging from £55 to £70 depending on the retailer, but I think pretty much everywhere has stopped preorders for now until they find out if they will have enough stock/any forthcoming stock. I'd keep a very close eye out if you want one and haven't preordered already, as they are going to be limited, just not quite as limited as the Tournament Edition stick.

You wouldn't know of a price for the fightpads would you? I'm leaning to get one of them instead of an arcade stick. I'm still regretting not picking up the ones that came out on the PS2 (any controller in the shape of the old six button Sega controllers is a win in my books)

I have to be honest I haven't really paid much attention to the fightpads since I already had a stick preordered. I think we're talking £25, and for some reason the UK isn't getting the full range of character art for the pads (if you care about that sort of thing - the Blanka pad, for instance, isn't available here iirc).

Are the fightpads available for pre-order instore? Or is it just online? I have amazon set to contact me when its available, but i'd probably prefer to pick it up instore.

In theory you should be able to pick up the pad from GAME, etc (probably not some of the smaller stores, though, I would guess), but MadCatz have been worryingly non-forthcoming with exact details of stock levels or availability.

Even their own online store has stopped taking preorders, but no-one seems to know exactly what this means - a certain number could have already been set aside for orders placed by GAME for stock to sell in their stores, but equally that stock could already have "sold out" to preorders in GAME stores.

In the US, Gamestop is still taking preorders both online and in store for the pad, afaik, but has stopped preorders for both sticks. I would take this to mean that MadCatz has made it clear that there will be plenty of stock for the fightpads, which would make sense as they're far cheaper to put together.

I'm not sure they appreciated quite how popular SFIV was going to be, for some bizarre reason! ^^;

Well, the Fightstick sounds preeeetty expensive really, but it looks good so I'll need to work. Otherwise, I guess its the fightpad il have to settle with. Chun Li art cant be bad.

Gameshark (the official MadCatz store) has preorders back up for all the sticks and pads, presumably for a limited time. The only drawback is that, since they're the official store, the prices are all RRP.

Was in Gamestation today so i finally got a go on Street Fighter IV, and i have to say i'm very much looking forward to it now. They had all of SFII's cast available to play as along with some of the new ones and akuma as a secret one. Had a bash with Chun Li, Ryu and C Viper. Ryu was fairly easy to use, and so i won two matches in a row with him, however got beat on the third match in a row(and as such missed out on a chance to get a t-shirt). Chun li was good, though i was obviously out of practice with her, and got beat. C.Viper was interesting. Her specials are easy enough to use, but her Ultra requires your opponent to be basically right next to her, otherwise its useless. I only really wanted to get a feel for her move set so i didn't win, but it was worth it. I'm gonna head in again tomorrow, and possibly over the weekend to make the most of it, and have a bash with some of the other characters, and win that damned t-shirt.

Apparently when i asked the folks in Gamestation, they don't know if they'll get any in stock of the fightpads, but no doubt if they do, they'd come in on the day.

EDIT: Will also say this. It was arcade style booths they had in so i got to have a bash with the arcade style controls, and i can see why so many prefer it now.
