Eh. Another overrated show

I had watched this on Bluray, and I will admit, it looked gorgeous! The backgrounds and the animation was flawless, I'll give it that much. The concept and plot was also kinda interesting. Giving a new fresh idea to a rather humorous genre. Its concepts like, the consequences of being a magical girl was also interesting.

But that doesn't save the show for me. The main issue here for me is, while the concept here was fresh, it was just done really poorly. The plot, while interesting, moved too slow, is was incredibly boring at times and all the characters did was mope. Especially the main character. She was sweet and all, but all she did for most of the series was cry!

That is LITERALLY the last time I watch an anime that gets so much praise! To those of you who like the show, good for you but for me is just didn't impress all that much.

Overall PMMM is a decent, but very overrated show. Don't believe the hype. Go watch another show.
 
bleach set 11

this is the start of the fight with the arrancars fraccion vs the captains and lieutenants but it cuts off at the fight when its captains vs espada 1, 2 and 3 which pissed me off sooooo badly, it was getting good too, first it started of slow but got good each time they got close to the espada vs the captains and then the fillers kicked in at the beginning for 2 or 3 episodes then it was the main plot then the last 3 was filler, and judging by the preview its the zanpakuto tail arc (*anime only*) -_- this is going to be a long one,,

stark and tir and there fraccion look interesting and the fights are getting heated up, just got to get past the next arc,

its good
7.5/10 * the fillers wasn't helping otherwise id give this a 8
 
Dragonball season 5 9/10

Another excellent Saga that starts with Goku training under Mr. Popo and Kami then after a three year time skip he returns to the next Tenkaichi Tournmant now a man. Ends up fighting Piccolo Jnr. and defeating him and gets married to Chi Chi. Much of the Popo training sequences are filler as are the last five episodes in which Chic Chi and Goku have a little adventure before getting hitched. This filler is good at it shows Goku growth as a martial artist and the wedding caps off the series nicely before the five year time skip at the start of DBZ.

Thoughts on Dragonball overall.

I really loved this show having not seen most of it more than once, if at all, it felt very felt very fresh. The amount of filler is surprisingly little when you remember how much DBZ is infested with the stuff, and what there is is enjoyable. Only one saga was a fail for me, but the rest was great. I like Goku much more in this show as a wild child making friends with his aimable personality. In DBZ Toriyama wanted Gohan to be the focus, the readers wanted Goku and this pushing and pulling ended up making Goku into something of a deadbeat dad. But here he's got no responsibilities and just lives to help his friends and grow as a fighter. Getting to know the characters who were sidelined and forgotten about in DBZ has been nice as well.

Overall, it's more than likely that if you are a DBZ fan you'll want to check this show out at some point. Once you get past the overt "gag anime" wackiness of the first Saga, you'll find it settling into something more familiar. The three Tournament Saga's might be a bit much, which is why I'm glad that, although I did enjoy them, DBZ did something different with the Tournament execution. Anyway, wonderful show, highly recommended.

first off, i can see why some people have a problem with the animation in the first 4 or 5 episodes, they looked liked they was made by someone who didn't know what they was doing, but after getting past them the animation got better in my opinion.

i think this series grew on me a lil and even tho iv seen hearms before but for some reason this series felt refreshing to me and i like it,

the comedy with forth wall jokes was good

the fan service * panty shots grew on me*

the main female leads grew on me

to be honest it was all bad.

howevertskune is a selfish bastard for choosing a fake moka over the real one, my reasons for hating

1 the body of the real moka is hers and not the fake moka,
2 hes being selfish and not consider the real mokas feelings even tho shes the real moka
3 in the last episode he tells everyone that he doesn't know who he wants to shear hes life with, even tho we know he loves the outer moka, hes just stringing all the others along, but really he wants to close the gap between outer moka and himself and leave the others in the dust, even tho inner moka was trying to get his attention,

iv got nothing against outer moka, but tskune is just selfish, wanting inner moka to disappear and outer moka to come back.

sorry but i just hate tskune and other male leads who either strings a hearm along or is to damned stupid to notice them,

besides tskune,

i enjoyed this series alot it felt so refreshing.

Fairy Tail - Collection 2 10/10

10/10, Oh yeah I'm going there. The whole set was awesome, but what really elevated it into classic status for me was "The Tower Of Heaven" arc. Oh God. I have something in my eye. I have something in my other eye. I have something in my heart! When a show has you snuffling back tears for several episodes on the trot you know it's touching a very deep part of you. I'm a huge Erza fangirl by now and that arc was very emotionally draining, but superb. And the other episodes were moving in places too, the Loke one got me going too. I love everything about this show, the character designs, the characterisation and how come the Japanese can do these amazing shows about the power of friendship and heart and not make me throw up so hard my guts fly across the room, like similar western shows? Anyway the very fact I watched the set in one go should be clue enough to how gripping it all was.

the first episode gives you a feel that its going to be about solving mysteries but Story: The biggest flaw of this anime is its plot. Starting episode 2 there are lots of plot-holes left. Story doesn't help characters to develop. There's hardly any intense in it. Only final episodes get a bit serious and dramatic, though it leaves an open ending which definitely was not an appropriate solution. Having said that, action scenes still looked entertaining and the jokes were quite hilarious.

its not bad but its not that good either

the accents was hilarious

Dragonball Z - season 1 8/10

This 38 episode season set covers the full Saiyan/Vegeta Saga of the show which saw sweeping changes to the Dragonball storyline take place, most noticably altering a fantasy based narrative to a science fiction based one. Goku's son Gohan is introduced and also his brother Raditz arrives from space, telling Goku he is in fact a Saiyan, one of a warrior race, sent to Earth as a baby to wipe out the population so the planet could then be sold on. Goku hit his head as a child and that changed his nature to the aimiable fellow we all know and love. Goku and Piccolo team up to take down Raditz and the gory nature of Raditz and Goku's death quickly shows that this was going to be for slightly more mature audiences. Great stuff, but then we get attack of the filler. Around ten episodes worth as Goku runs down snakeway while Gohan gets trained in the wilderness by Piccolo and cries a lot. There are some good episodes - the Hell, Arlia and Pendulum Room ones - but it all feels like what it is, padding.

That said when Nappa and Vegeta arrive on Earth things take a turn for the awesome as the "Z Warriors" hold them off while Goku desperately runs back to them. Having got to know Yamucha, Tenshinhan and Chaozu better now their deaths at Nappa's hands was much more effective. And Piccolo's death must have been a real "Oh Crap!" moment for the first time audience as it meant no dragonballs. When Goku finally get's there and curb-stomps Nappa it is very cathartic.

The battle against Vegeta is one of my favourites because it is so utterly gruelling. By the end, all participants are caked from head to foot in blood and dirt, barely able to move. You feel tired just watching them! Oddly the set doesn't end there it ends a few episodes into the Namek Saga halfway through some two part filler. The Namek Saga next it is then... Ugh, my least favourite DBZ Saga. Can't I just watch it on DBZ Abridged? No, no cheating, Sophie.

ef the tale of memories

im not a fan of love triangles which half of this is but the other half is done so good, this series has 2 stories
the first is a sappy love triangle story about 2 childhood friends and a girl that comes between them * i hate love triangles (unless theres a threesome) *
the second is about a girl who at a young age got in to a crash and now can only remember 13 hours in a day and forgets them the next day but meets a guy and they become friends and she starts a diary to give her next day self what she did the day before
im not much kin on the first story but i swear the second story is done brilliantly,

there both connected by thetwin which is in each of the storys

the animations nice
the character development is good
the story .........
i give the first story a 7.5/10 * i hate love triangles
the second 9/10

@Mr Vile I've got Fairy Tail Collection 2 sitting waiting to be watched and you've just made me really excited to get into it! I've surprised myself already at how much I did actually enjoy Fairy Tail as it's not typically my type of show. It's just so funny and energetic that I can't help but get swept up in it all. I do love a show that makes me smile :)

@animefreak17 I agree about Ef- A Tale of Memories. I loved Chihiro and Renji's story and, even though I enjoyed the show as a whole, they were really what made it for me. Such a sweet relationship. I also liked finding out how everyone was connected. Artistically speaking, it really was beautiful to look at. Visually stunning. I need to watch A Tale of Melodies too, I'm looking forward to it!
 
Pandora: I hope you do like it, I think it's a nice show for both males and females because unlike a lot of shonen shows it seems to have a fairly even split of strong male and female protagonists and also, lots of things happen. It's really pacey and stuffed with plot and it doesn't seem to have filleritis yet.

I'm rewatching Dragonball Z right after, although I still love DBZ passionately, you have just one fight lasting 20 episodes in season 3 for example, where as in Fairy Tail in that time you've been through several shorter stories taking on different characters, so the focus isn't just on one pair of combatants to the exclusion of everyone else. I just bought a wall scroll of Erza too, wearing the new costume she creates in her backstory arc. Kick. Ass.

Talking of Dragonball Z..

Dragonball Z season 2 5/10 (overall)

Well, I did it all in one go so it would be over with. This set covers the Namek and Ginyu Sagas. The Namek one is uncreddibly dull, with soo much filler. Like several episodes on a fake Namek that would have fooled nobody watching then or now. Or really dumb - See Bulma fight Giant Enemy Crabs! Hit Their Weak Points For MASSIVE DAMAGE! The rest of it is endless scenes of the various parties on Namek flying backwards and forwards between Bulma's base camp, Freeza's spaceship and super kami Guru's house stealing each other's dragonballs. It really is that interesting, so that Saga gets 3/10

The Ginyu Saga perks thing's up a bit, the Super Sentai antics of the five are amusing and there are some good fights. We finally get Goku doing another of his dramatic "To the rescue!" entrances and we see the payoff of his gravity training. Of course because Goku isn't supposed to be the main hero now (Toriyama insists) he has to be put out of commission again and the way it's done is pretty creative. But enough of the warm-up acts, it's Freeza time now. 7/10
 
That's another thing I like about it. I just can't sit through fights generally, so having them move swiftly suits me. I don't mind them as long as they don't drag and have adequate reasons behind them. The characters all get fleshed out and have suitable attention without it feeling too much like an arc each. Ooooh I can't wait for Erza's backstory >.< I wanna know what's going on there! Strong female character, always a plus.
 
I think Lucy is quite a strong character too. I know that in terms of brute force or raw magical ability she's not very high up and her summons do the actual fighting, but she has a good brain and is very strongwilled and I like that too. Also, this collection adds another female guild member who has pretty cool abilities.
 
ef the tale of melodies

just like the first season it had 2 stories and was about love, but it was a lil darker then the first season,

the stories seem a lil more fantasy then reality then the last season because a back haird woman keeps popping up to all the main casts of the series, yes she was in the last season but i thought she was a figment of those who was down and needed some but i guess i was wrong,

the animation is nice like the first season,
the characters are goodall of them are linked,
the stories are good but my favourites still the second story from the first season. but there just as good.

both storys 8/10

both seasons are sappy, so if your not in to sappy anime i suggest a miss for this series

5cm Per Second (rewatch) - 9/10

My 5cm Per Second Blu-ray arrived so I threw it straight into the player for my first viewing since I bought the DVD about 4 or 5 years ago. It didn't take long for me to realise why I never rewatched it until now: I spent the entirety of the film on the verge of bursting into tears. I love 5cm Per Second but, man, it makes me feel depressed.

What's remarkable about the film is the how effortlessly Shinkai captures the essence of first love (and love in general): the joy, the exhilaration, the anxiety over how to make it last, and the pain of realising it's over but still not being able to let go. There are aspects of the characters and their situation I can relate to, and those I can empathise with. Or, rather, Shinkai invites the viewer to experience what the characters are feeling by immersing them in nostalgic melancholy through the visuals and music. When Takaki is stranded on the train for hours due to the weather, I keenly felt his anxiety over keeping Akari waiting (the first chapter appears to be set before mobile phones were commonplace) and his realisation of just how great the physical distance between them is.

I'm still not overly keen on the film ending with a montage set against a ballad, but it didn't bother as much as it did the first time.
 
Dragonball Z season 3 7/10

This 33 episode set covers the whole Frieza Saga. It's basically one long fight against one enemy. Different people fight him, and he does change shape but it's still 32 loooong episodes of one battle. It does have some great moments though and if it had been trimmed somewhat it could have been a classic, like the much shorter Cell Games Saga. There are two character deaths in it which give it dramatic impetus.
First Vegeta dies. Seeing the proud Saiyan Prince reduced to weeping helplessness does show just how powerful Frieza is, and his dying plea to Goku that Frieza must die by the hand of a Saiyan is very moving. This also helps Goku come to terms with being a Saiyan which is a big character moment for him.

Second character death is Krillin. Blown up by Frieza just when they though he was dead. As this is Krillins second death he cannot be bought back to life by the Earth dragonballs and it's this death that sends Goku into such a rage he turns into the blonde, blue-eyed Super Saiyan of legend.

It's when Goku becomes the Super Saiyan that the fight against Frieza becomes more interesting as they fight on equal terms and it's not just Frieza beating the crap out of his opponents. I have to say, final form Frieza is one of the best designed villans I have ever seen. Coldly elegant, sinisterly beautiful, he really does look great.

Anyway, it's still a pretty good saga, but only if you have a high tolerance for fighting, fighting, fighting and stupid filler.

the characters are loads of fun and lovable
the plot and story, is a load of fun there in school and they are put in classes from A-F A is the smartest in the school and F is the dumbest in school and our main cast is in F and each student has a avatar to fight each others class and depending on your education you get points .............................. actually watch it and you'll get it.
but its still really good

it was a load of fun and i hope they make a season 3 and more

Bardock - Father Of Goku 8/10

A TV special aired between episodes 63 and 64 of DBZ, generally considered canon as it tells the story of events referred to in the show and clips from it were incorporated into DBZ as flashbacks. After he and his friends clear a planet of psychic people, Bardock is cursed with visions of the future by one of the survivors. He ends up having distracting visions of Planet Vegeta being destroyed and his son growing up (Goku is being sent off in his pod at the time). When Frieza decides he's done with the Saiyans and kills Bardock friends, and the rest of the Saiyans fail to heed Bardocks warning, he charges into space to take on Frieza himself. It doesn't end well.

A superb bit of story telling though, I'm always a sucker for heroic sacrifices. Which is why I have wiped Episode Of Bardock from my own personal canon as it is stupid and ruins this story.
 
Dragoball Z season 4 8/10

This kicks off with the first of DBZ filler Sagas. Focusing on Garlic Jnr. it's not actually that bad. We get a nice focus on Kami and Mr. Popo which is great. But the main issue is that it's the sequel to a film (The Dead Zone) that is impossible to fit into DBZ contnuity. So the whole things is rendered non-canon. Still fun though. 7/10

Now, the Trunks and Android Sagas. This is the stuff, the Z Warriors get the news that Freeza survived and is coming to Earth and Goku is still off training. But a mysterious youth appears and hacks Freeza to death and kills King Cold too while turning SSJ. When Goku arrives he confesses that he is Trunks from the futre, Bluma and Vegetas son, a bad future where two androids killed everyone but him and Gohan. he leaves medicine to cure Goku of the heart disease he will suffer from and leaves, saying the Androids will arrive in 3 years time,

Three years pass, and two androids do attack. Goku sucumbs to illness having not taken his meds and is conviniently rendered incapacited for the next couple of Sagas. Vegeta arrives and can go Super Saiyan, taking on Androids 19 and 20, but later Trunks arrives and is disturbed to realise these are not the androids he knows.

Really good stuff. Trunks time travelling will start wrapping your head in a knot, but it does work. Plus I'd like to thank Team Four Star for envisaging the events that lead to Trunk's conception, matched how I thought of it anyway. Also one of the filler episodes is the much loved one where Chi Chi bullies Goku and Piccolo (!) into learning to drive, provong not all DBZ filler is faecal. Both get 9/10

Dragonball Z - season 5 9/10

Two short Sagas in this 25 episode set. The Imperfect and Perfect Cell ones. While the somewhat aimable Artifical Humans #16, #17 and #18 go on a road trip another one called Cell has, via time travel shenanigans arrived in the main timeline. Some quite yucky horror is shown when he drains victims dry for energy and as he can suppress his Ki, our heroes can't find him. he has to absorb #17 and #18 to achieve his perfect form, so destroying them becomes a top priority.

This leads to an amazing fight between #17 and Piccolo and sadly, after that one, if you are not a Saiyan or part Saiyan, you are basically only in fights to get pounded on. Vegeta and Trunks, then Goku and Gohan each spend a year training in the Room Of Spirit and Time to power up. Vegeta takes on Imperfect Cell, but get's manipulated into allowing Cell to absorb #18. He then get's his prideful arse kicked very badly. Trunks powers up but sacrifices speed for strength and cannot hit Cell. Cell then announces he will hold a tournament for people to try and defeat him in ten days and departs, leading us into the Cell Games Saga next. And thus ends a very enjoyable pair of Saga's with some really good fights in it.

Dragonball Z - season 6 10/10

Huh, I am really motoring through these now. This is the 29 episode, Cell Games Saga. Anyway, trying hard to be subjective, but as it was an all day marathon of this saga back in around 2000 that reignited my love of anime and made me a huge fan of the show (was my no.1 fave all the way up until this year when PMMM supplanted it) I'm finding it hard. So sod it, gets full marks.

That said it's the best Saga of the show, in my opinion of course. Not painfully drawn out and padded, it moves at a cracking pace with new twists and turns to the battle every episode. I have to say as well I like it because Piccolo finally calls Goku out on his terrible treatment of Gohan during the battle and fundamental misunderstanding of his sons nature. In fact Goku doesn't come out of it very well as the end is basically him giving a feeble excuse as to why he doesn't want to be bought back to life, and hey it's OK because HE gets to go off and fight and train in the Next World, sucks to be you Chi Chi! Anyway, while it's obvious that this was another of Toriyama's attempts to make Gohan to main character, it's about as successful as all his previous attempts. Gohan gets one Saga of his own, then it's the Goku and Vegeta show all the way.

Mr. Satan also puts in his first appearance, and although he's comic relief at this point, he does show signs of his immense bravery to come in the Buu Saga. Oh, can I call him Hercule? He'll always be Hercule to me. Finally, more time travel shennanigans to bake your noodle as Trunks travels back to the future and kills Cell before he can travel to the past and so creates yet another timeline as if the three or so already weren't enough. Anyway, this is DBZ at it's best. I love it!
