Dragonball Z - season 9 9/10

And so DBZ concludes with the fusion and kid boo sagas. Most of this is the battle against Boo but it stays fresh by having new characters turn up, while the fusions and Boo absorptions mean you don't get the same battle for more than a couple of episodes. It's a shame Gohan was finally sidelined in this. I rememeber at the time being annoyed that he got about ten episodes of powering up, only to have one episode kicking butt before being tricked and absorbed. But this did pave the way for Vegeta being bought back to fuse with Goku creating the ultimate warrior Vegetto. With Goku and Vegetas brute power and Vegeta's intelligence he manages to trick Buu into absorbing him where he splits back into Vegeta and Goku for a hilarious voyage around Buu insides. This ends with fat Buu being detached from the inside of Buu creating the ultimate Buu, Kid Buu and the crap really hits the fan

When Kid Buu arrives on the scene, he just starts blowing crap up. He even makes it to Heaven to cause trouble until Vegeta and Goku lure him to the Kai plalnet. There is a lovely bit of character development for Vegeta, as he watched Goku fight Buu he reflects on their rivalry and finally makes peace with the fact he will never attain the heights of Goku and he smiles genuinely and shows concern for his rival. It's great that in the end the Universe is saved by Vegetas plan, Goku's strength and Hercules reputation with the people of earth. And after a ten year time skip, which shows us what became of the characters DBZ ends.

Dragonball Z overall 10/10

"Shenanigans" I here you cry, "you gave some Sagas quite low marks". Well this is taking the whole view. DBZ was a huge influence on the big shonen stories that followed, and for many kids (and adults) watching CNX then Toonami and the turn of the century it acted as a gateway series even in it's cut and dubbed form to the wacky world of anime. Although in finished in the early 1990's, it's still a sucessful videogame franchise and new films are released on a regular basis. I love it's epicness and how it uses it's length to actually have characters change and grow. Enemies can become friends and lovers if their is even the smallest chance that they can be redeemed. The two most interesting characters, namely Gohan and Vegeta are two characters torn between opposite sides of their natures and unlike the "pure of heart" Goku, watching them struggle to reconcile those two sides is fascinating. This show has always been special to me due to it rekindling a love of anime that has dwindled in the 90's. It's exciting, funny, moving, and never really dull (apart from some early filler) always finding new things to keep the action fresh and interesting. It was my favourite anime of all time for 12 years, only supplanted recently by PMMM, but I still love it. Dragonball Z is awesome!

Naruto shipped set 14

Aside the fillers the story with pain and fight was pretty darn good, pain is easily my fav akastuki before sasori, his theme is like you hear in a church which is ironic cause the name of the theme is geire which means God, and I learned more surprises what's to come and such.

The fillers are annoying but watchable

Queens blade rebellion

First off, why the hell aren't the OVAs and specials released some of them are supposed to be with the rebellion series,
Second, why isn't there a second season of rebellion and the OVA that gose between the second and third season,
Thirdly, it felt rushed a bit, it has so many characters to introduce with little time,
Fourth , where is aria, nxy and the rest of the cast from the last season it's not explained well what happened to them, I'd really like to find out what happened to them,
Fifth some characters was in this series and was left out like the pirate chick and the cat girl, what the hell what to them

It's not all.bad for fan services lovers like my self, the new cast isn't as good has the last cast in my opinion, maybe it's because we haven't got to know a little more about them, the new main hero sounds like someone in there 40-50s,

I swear this series is a tease an I I know Rui would like this since she's a fan

If it had a second season and explained a few more things I'd give it a 8/10 but since that's not the case

Haven't had much time to watch anime lately.

Excel Saga

I found the old Italian DVDs for something like 5 euro total, so I snapped them. Bad surprise: they had the dub but no subs (what the hell?). This is one of the shows were the original dub is almost irreplaceable, I tried to listen to it and the difference was HUGE. Oh well...
Another problem is that I think I missed a ton of references (I have a lot of holes about 90's anime), so some of the episodes didn't grab me. The Tomino / Matsumoto episode was something uber funny. The one after (Fist of the North Star) was even better. The 2 final episodes were pure class (in a trolling way, of course). Overall it's been a rollercoaster, from plain boring to super awesome. Loved both the OP and the ED (rare case for me).

Score: pucchu / 10

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

Finally it arrived to Italian cinemas, just for one day. Holy **** if it looked great!!!
Mixed feelings about the movie. I really liked what I saw, can't complain on how Anno decided to evolve things. Problem is that this movie is just interlocutory, to get a good grasp of it I need to watch the next installement(s) and rewatch this one. There are a boatload of possible speculations, but I think it's better to just forget about it now and waiting for 20xx and the 4th movie. What left me more ?????? than anything was the ending, which said "epilogue, next Shin Evangelion". I hope Anno will make the definitive anime trolling, something so massively bastard that the reaction after the end of the original series will be like plain water.

Score: ? / 10

Le Chevalier D'Eon

This series is kinda like the counts o Monte Christie an Romeo an Juliet, if you compare them but the difference is that 10% of the series was history and the other 90% was functional,

It wasn't bad series but sometimes I'd get lost in the story,

Oh edo rocket

Surprisingly enjoyable, loads of funny moment's and fun to boot, there's loads of mentionings of different anime series an and fourth wall jokes and very cartoony,

2 aliens land on earth and is trapped on earth and one of them meets a boy who makes fireworks and she believes that he can get her back to the moon with his fireworks,

It's a fun series to watch and recommend it to everyone who wants a laugh

Wow. A Gonzo anime that's actually.........Good! I was really surprised at this show! And yes I realise I said I wasn't gonna watch another Gonzo anime but I thought I'd give it another chance.

The first season was very enjoyable! The main characters were all very relatable and fun to watch! I thought they were all going to be either boring or annoying when I first saw them. I thought Jill was going to be a whiny emo kid, but he's a likable little lad who's pretty darn brave and just get's the job done, which I thought was a interesting personality for the protagonist. The comedy here works really well. I RARELY laugh at anime, as I find most of their humour, lame or just plain cringe! But I actually laughed a lot at this anime! Episode 5 was especially funny! The animation was surprisingly fluid, as apposed to most of Gonzos shows. The two strongest aspects of the first season is it's fight scenes and it's overall plot. The fight scenes in the first season are a blast! The battle with Druaga was really epic! The plot was very engaging, as it gave off a real sense of fantasy and adventure with it's big scale

Season 2 isn't as good, but is still enjoyable to watch. I biggest gripe with the second season, is that the story kind of gets less interesting as there is too much going on and too many characters. Where did Gilgameshes shadow come from? He just kinda came out of the blue just for the plot! Plus the ending was pretty naff as it just ended too quickly. All of the humour is gone for some reason. I also didn't care much for the characters as much as I did in the first season. I honestly don't know why. The only redeeming factor was the fight scenes

Overall, TOD is actually a good fun show with loads of comedy, adventure and battles. There's something here for everyone :)

My otome

First off I like this compared to my hime because it had that annoying school drama and love triangles and such, but with My otome it was ...................well average but it had a few laughs there and there and some of the characters was cute an fun to watch at times, it's not a direct sequel but it but it does have nearly all the cast from my hime,

It's nothing to write home about but it's not bad either but I wish they followed the story from the manga more closely,

Shrine of the morning mist

It's strange watching a anime like this because it's a 26 long anime but it's 10 min per ep which is a first for me,
Its light hearted which I like,

Sword Art Online

Thoughts on ending the last few episodes:
I'm rather satisfied for the way they ended this season. They left it on a good note and open for the Gun Gale Online Arc (which I hear is one of the best arcs in the LN series) if a Season 2 happens. I'd admit that the Fairy Dance/Alfheim Arc is rather average due to the focus on fanservice and off the point events (like that fight against the salamanders with the leaders groping Kirito for harem reasons) but on the other hand contained no time skips and a good continuation to the previous arc so that's a plus.

Overall opinion (Includes Spoilers):
Aincrad/Sword Art Online Arc
It was a fun and promising start to a good story but was foiled by chronological harem events and extreme time-skips. Certain characters were only one-offs and left each episode being episodic while also losing the serious tone along the way. On the other hand, the arc was fun and brought various pieces of the world for us viewers to explore upon. The characters are doable with a few very good ones (Klein and Agil for instance) while the main characters lost promise for various reasons (romance/family plot and Asuna going from strong mysterious woman to tsundere 'I NEED KIRITO'). I'm rather disappointed that they didn't reach the final level and stopped at Level 75 because it just made me felt cheated (as a gamer, I would like to see the final level/boss then end the story).

Fairy Dance/Alfheim Online Arc
This was rather problematic. It's nice to have a continuation to the previous arc but this was ridiculous. Let's get rid of every character in SAO (with the exception of Yui, Kayaba and Asuna) and add a 'little sister' crisis with a more heavy based fanservice character and a villain who loves doing a 'Shinji' to Asuna. While the time-skip issue is fixed with this arc and the story was rather decent, the rest was a package waiting to be blown up with pixie dust. I am however, very pleased to the conclusion of this arc but there were a few plotholes that need to be solved in Season 2 (though Kirito did explain this briefly in the last few episodes). I'm also glad the major characters returned for a cameo in the final episode.

+ Both: Music was very good, Yuki Kajiura has done another great soundtrack.
+ Both: Animation, especially in the fight scenes is rather awesome to watch.
+/- Both: Characters are doable and likable to relate with. There are a few who I find are exceptionally good in the series (Klein and Agil) while there are loads who are there for the 'plot' (Every harem girl with the exception to Sachi who I felt made a better impact to Kirito than Asuna could).
+/- Both: Kirito, stop acting like Guts. Stop it. STAUP!!!!

+ SAO: Very interesting setting which relates to various gamers watching the series.
+/- SAO: Time skips are fine but there were way too much in this arc (14 episodes in 2 years, wait wut?)

+ AO: It's nice to see Kirito still has a reason to continue his quest especially if he knows the consequences.
+ AO: KAYABA!! scream and reaction: priceless.
- AO: Fanservice aglore, though not every character has bewbs in our camera lens but why focus it on Suguha numerous times especially when she's taking the shower?
- AO: Really? a tentacle semi-rape scene and a perverted semi-rape scene? Are you high AO? Really inappropriate for the target audience.

Overall:
SAO Arc gets an 8/10, it may have driven off course but I honestly did enjoy the episodes a lot. I was however disappointed by the tone of the series being reduced to random fun and joy and watching the characters not taking the events seriously (People die if they are killed). There were episodic type events involved but they were okay nevertheless. The first three episodes will always be the best ones in the arc, especially with Sachi and the guild in Episode 3. I was also disappointed that they ended SAO on Level 75 and not 100 (though it was part of the plot, I wanted to see the battle end on the final level).

AO Arc gets a 4/10, I am not pleased with the direction that was taken for Alfheim. Even though the game kill consequence is removed, it doesn't do justice to save this one. I am rather annoyed with the whole brother/sister sideplot being the focus of the show (especially when the final episode showed them dancing together instead of him and Asuna, like seriously?). The story to rescue Asuna was okay but the villain was a total punch in the face. The logic with Episode 24 didn't make sense when he could have used it seconds earlier (which therefore remove the 2nd Asuna rape scene). I'm glad the music and animation is top notch though and I'd give praise for Leafa's VA (also voices Kirino [Oreimo], hehe) and Sugou's VA (also voices Luck Gandor [Baccano!] and Shigeru Aoba [Evangelion], woah).

8/10 + 4/10 = 12/20 = 6/10

At first I thought it was going to be a cutesy children type of anime and it was but to my surprise it gets good in the manga, I like this very much for its cuteness and likable characters and its funnies, the story gets even better in the manga the anime is the warm up to the manga,

A 10 year old girl follows her BF to a special for people who have special powers called Alice's and each one is unique and she turns out that she her self has a alice and begins her life in alice academy,

It's cute
Funny
Lovable characters
Light hearted

I just loved it

Spiral

Bloody hell, this series has good things about it and few bad things about it,

1 it keeps you in suspense
2 it has likable character, * some anyways
3 it's kinda like death note but without the book
4, this series makes you smarter when you watch it
5 Hiyono is funny and cute

The problem with it is the ending it doesn't go in to anymore detail what the blade children is who and why they are after our main lead and its anime ending is kinda weak

But it's not bad at all

Lost universe

The main male lead is the male counter part of lina invers from skaters but it's in space with space ships.

I'm be honest I got in to it at first but I got bored 3/4 in

The dub is awful I mean ear hurting awful

It's a bit dated

But I guess it could of been worse

Tiger and Bunny part 1
7/10

Not bad at all :)

It's kinda hard to review the first 7 episodes but ill try! The first thing that caught my eye was my was the attention to detail in the overall design of the show. All the character designs and backgrounds were top notch! The anime feels very alive (especially the city itself) with loads of things going on in each shot, kinda reminded me of Bioshock Infinite. The characters and their abilities were all nice, well animated and fun to watch. It could of focused more on them and not too much on Tiger and Bunny. While the cgi wasn't the worst I've seen in an anime, its far from the best. The CGI on fire emblem was pretty naff. I liked the action in this show, it was always well animated and kept me guessing on what was going to happen next. This show strangely reminded me of Code Geass. It just has the same kind of feel.

Overall, a decent start to a fun anime. Although i'm not REALLY DETERMINED to finish the show, i will buy the next volumes in the future :)

Attack on Titan

Great series. Yes, it had some pacing issues and I felt a couple of plot points were overlooked, but the multitude of gut-wrenchingly awesome moments carried the series through. Episodes 8, 13 and 24 were particularly outstanding, and presented some of the most emotional scenes that I've seen across any kind of media.

Wolf Children
I saw both of Hosoda's previous works that were released by MangaUK and was somewhat impressed, so I thought it worth checking out. A good friend of mine agreed to see it at my local Arts Picture House with me - she saw the film before and said that it left her very emotional, so considering she laughs about Dangan Ronpa, I didn't know what to expect.

I will say this though - this is easily Hosoda's best film. I adored it from beginning to end with a grin across my face throughout. Watching Hana struggling to take care of Ame and Yuki struck a chord, making me think of just how much my Mum had to do for me and my brothers, watching Ame and Yuki as young children was beyond adorable and watching the two children come to terms with the world around them and making their choices, then reflecting on how they were like at the start of the movie, was breath-taking. When the movie wanted my heart to melt, it melted. When it wanted me to feel sad, I felt sad and when it wanted me to grin like an idiot, I grinned.

I have no idea why my friends were upset by the ending - I thought it was bittersweet, but mostly sweet (without going into too much details). I actually left the theatre uplifted and actually somewhat longing for a family of my own...Yuki was just so adorable!

My only complaint about the film is that considering Yuki was 11 and Ame was 10 at the ending of the movie, they both seemed way too mature. I guess that could be due to wolves being adults at the age of ten, but I dunno. Also, Child Protection Services would have most likely followed them to the forest xD.

I recommend this film to absolutely everyone.

K-ON! The Movie

After the amazing send off the end of season two gave the franchise, did it really need another? Probably not, if I'm perfectly honest. What I do love about the film though, is that it was classic K-ON. No stupid plot that somehow ended up with them having to save the world like many kid's shows do - just usual fluffy stuff.

Saying that though, I think the movie stayed too close to its comfort zone - even during the rough third of the film spent in London, they mostly did things that were either completely Japanese or influenced by Japan. I would have liked to have seen them actually visit some more places related to music too, like Mio was hoping. Even the animation seemed too similar to the usual - usually you expect a movie to have better animation due to a bigger budget.

I did thoroughly enjoy watching certain scenes and thinking "I've been there!" though - am I right in thinking that the music store they were in was in Denmark Street? That store is my older brother's regular haunt xD. The little touches were superb, like them staying at an Ibis, shopping in a Waitrose and the English characters actually sounding English (I watched the dub, will watch the sub tomorrow, but didn't the Japanese production team actually get English actors to record the lines?). It shows that an awful lot of attention was put into making this movie. I just wish that had also been channeled elsewhere into the movie.

This may sound weird, but I feel that there were too many songs in the movie. Their constant series of performances actually really lowered the impact of the song for Azusa at the end and in fact, the ending of the movie did really drag. I would have easily cut out them playing at the Japan Culture Festival and added them visiting more of London - at least the sushi restaurant scene had a hilarious language barrier.

Which brings me to my next point - Sentai's translations are lazy. On the plane, Yui outright says to Azusa to stop speaking Japanese...except that they've been speaking English the entire time in the dub and the various language barrier scenes are left making no sense. This was really jarring with the TV series' and it made me really wish they could have just rewrote the lines into something else, but I imagine that would have been really difficult with this movie - especially the various language barrier scenes. I personally would have simply released this as sub-only. Ritsu referring to the tube as "The subway" was also really irritating.

Also, how the heck is this movie a 12 BBFC? "Moderate innuendo"? What moderate innuendo? Ritsu joking once about Mio sleeping naked or Azusa thinking Yui was in love with her and going to pounce on her in the hotel room? Really? This should have been a U, or at the very least, a PG.
