I was pleasantly surprised! This is an actual really good Naruto movie. The last time Naruto movie i watched and really enjoyed was the first one! The others were decent at best.
First the plot: While nothing amazing, it isnt trying to be overly complex like the previous film. Its just a simple story with a few twists, which i found great! Secondly the new characters (Shinno and Ammaru) were actually really enjoyable. They were easy to relate to and they were'nt annoying like previous new characters in the movies. The Villain (not gonna say who it is) Was also very likable. He looked like a villain from Dragonball Z, with is big muscles, long hair that changed colour when he powered up and strength. Even his transformation using dark chakra looked reminiscent of DBZ.
The animation was also pretty good. I watched this on Blu-ray and it looked great. Everything looked colourful and vibrant. It especially looks good during the fight scenes. Speaking of the fight scenes, even though it lacked alot of them, they looked fantastic, they were fun and they were very well animated! The fight scene with Naruto and the villain was one of the best anime fight scenes I've seen in a while.
The only bad things i have to say is that most of the cast from the series only had short roles and very few lines. They could of had there own fight scenes which would of been nice. Plus the whole idea behind this movie made it look like Naruto and Sasuke were gonna meet together again. Which they do, but its not very exciting. The last battle they have with the villain is very short and seems tacked on. I think it would of been better if Sasuke wasn't in this movie.
Overall, one of the better Naruto movies. If you found the previous 3 average or below, you won't be dissapointed here!

This was another blind purchase for me. Usually a purchase by me is the result of extensive research involving the cross-referencing of any number of customer and professional reviews. In this case, the name of title was enough to sway me.
The movie runs a bit over two hours, but to its credit it packs a lot of story that fully uses the runtime. Alien battles, talking dogs, lunar personae non gratae, and a Big Bang as envisioned by the late Bob Clampett, they form part of the long (but not longwinded) story. The flow of events does not feel forced as the heroes accidentally embark on their series of escalating misadventures. Nor do the reflective and expository moments bring the proceedings to a crashing halt. In short, not once was I tempted to check on the timer on my blu-ray player for the remaining time.
Add to this a killer AV presentation that sweetens the deal. The verdant mountains of the heroes’ hometown look really lush in HD, while the lossless 5.1 mix truly highlights the confines and vastness of whatever location to which their circumstances lead them.
All in all? Welcome to the Space Show tells an epic, engrossing story with a charming sense of innocence to it.

Twelve Months(Sekai Meisaku Dōwa:Mori wa Ikiteiru)is a 1980 animated movie from Toei production,it is based on a old Russian fairy tale play and was also made into a animated movie in russia in 1956 which is also worth tracking down,it is on youtube with english subtitles,the 1980 japanese version was produced by Toei Animation in partnership with Soyuzmultfilm from the Soviet Union and if the character design looks familiar that is because it was done by Osamu Tezuka,the film was directed by Kimio Yabuki,Tetsuo Imazawa and Yugo Serikawa served as chief director,it is a magical and enchanting tale about a young girl who lives with her evil step sister and step mother who bully her and force her to do chores,on new years eve the queen of the land sends a request to her followers that she wants a bouquet of snowdrop flowers in exchange for gold,knowing this is an impossible task in winter the evil step mother still sends out her step daughter to look for the flowers,on her quest in the blizzards she nearly freezes to death but is saved by the spirits of the twelve months who rescue her and change the seasons for her so she can obtain the flowers,she is given a special ring that can summon the brothers of the twelve months but is sworn to secrecy to never tell anyone about them and what happened to her,the evil step sister and mother take the snowdrop flowers back to the queen and the queen refuses to give them the gold unless they show them where they got the flowers in the middle of winter,the evil step mother then bribes her step daughter into showing her where she found the flowers,knowing that she cant break the promise she made to the brothers,things get out of hand and it is up to the brothers of the twelve months to save her.It is a beautiful movie with whimsical music and songs and it is such a uplifting tale.Highly recommended.8/10.

This came out in Japan March 23rd and I've just seen it and it was great. So cruel, bloody, visually different and surprising in some ways including the end. I just loved it. Without spoiling too much, this is about a child that was a victim of his mother. The hunger for food made the mother try to kill her own son to eat him. He felt real pain psychologically and physically and it resulted in a kid acting as a non-human. You can call it survival of the fittest if you want.
Visually its great and has some powerfull scenes.
Asura shows how humans can act when they are desperate.
This is a must see for violence fans and not only. If you want to watch something different from the crap that air nowadays, go for it, dont hold back.

Asura was certainly something different, I enjoyed it a lot. Wouldn't got the whole hog with a perfect rating though.
I've said it before, but the total reversal of the villagers becoming the savages as Asura becomes more human is really well done and gives the film some real emotional depth.

Asura is an amazing movie but my god is it bleak but underneath all the violence and despair is the message of hope and by the end of the movie you feel sad but also uplifted and little Asura is a awesome character,this will become a cult classic in no time,i,d give it 9/10

A friend once posed a question to me. Which sort of movie remake would I prefer: one which simply summarises the story as is, or one that offers a completely new spin on proceedings? My answer was the standard cop-out: "It depends". A retelling can be made into something more by introducing new insights to the events, as witnessed in the Macross Plus and Rebuild of Evangelion movies. But what if someone decides to make a number of significant shake-ups to the very foundations of the source Sure you risk alienating the viewers who made the original show enough of a success to warrant the movie spin-off in the first place. Get it wrong, and you’ll end up with Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers. Get it right, you’ll end up with this movie.
Escaflowne: The Movie takes on the unenviable task of summarising the 26-episode source in its 100 minute running time. As is to be expected, a few nips and tucks were made. A number of subplots were dropped, a number of characters now have smaller roles (those that speak, that is; some only have walk-on roles). And those aren't even the major changes. The main characters' demeanours have done a collection of 180's. Hitomi, for example, starts the movie by contemplating suicide. Vahn is now a bloodthirsty mercenary pushing for his own death on the battlefield. And Allen has been demoted to a supporting character with little to no influence on proceedings.
But surprisingly it comes together nicely. The core of the original series remains intact, the characters no less engaging. The violence has been stepped up, a point made clear at the beginning with Vahn storming a transport airship. And after all is done, the ending will haunt you. Of course to get the most out of this you need to be familiar with the series; else the experience would be like exploring a museum without a knowledgeable guide.
AV-wise this fares favourably. Picture quality has been cleaned up to a high degree with more vivid colours and higher detail levels. Sonically there's a Dolby TrueHD track for English and Japanese. Do yourself a favour and go for the Japanese. In English the overall production is greatly diminished by flat, lacklustre efforts from all involved. But be warned of the dynamic range of this blu-ray. One moment you'll be watching a quiet and quirky scene in a stable, next thing you know there's a thunderous invasion causing the amp to responding by dropping loud and wild sound effects all over the place. It's a schizophrenic mix, but in the best possible way.
Extras comprise a series of interviews from an assortment of filmmakers clocking in at a decent length. But the main omission from the DVD version is that of the isolated score track. On DVD you were afforded a chance to appreciate just how well Yoko Kanno's eclectic mix works in the movie. It's missing here, and for that I accept no excuses. I do wish that all home movie releases could include an isolated score as part of the extras, then all would truly be well in the world.
In summation then: it's a new spin that pays off handsomely. 8/10

I'm among that few people who really enjoyed Blood-C, so i purchased and watched it as soon as posible :mrgreen:
The last Dark takes place about a year after the end of Blood-C, and compared to the series the movie was darker and more serious. To be honest I was a little dissapointed with the end of the story, I was expecting something more epic (It is a revenge story after all) and I missed more gore and violence, but I liked the movie.
If you decide to take a look at Blood-C watch the whole series, just don't drop the anime after a few episodes without action, you'll regreat it. You're gonna miss alot of awesome scenes. :wink:

Little Witch Academia: nice animation/character designs and lots of ですわ～ but parts of the story were just dumb. 6/10 would not masturbate to on a weekend.

An impressive old school anime from the 90s!
The first thing i have to mention is the animation. The animation was amazing from start to finish! Simple things from character movement to gigantic fight scenes were really impressive! The characters were also very likeable! the 3 main characters were fun to watch but Gawl stole the show. He was very much like Vash the Stampede, Funny one minute, serious the next. I also liked Misami. Some might see her as annoying but her interation with Gawl was funny but cute at the same time. The other chracters were also nice.
The voice acting was also very well done for an early dub by ADV films. I was very surprised to hear Vic Mignogna doing the voice of Gawl. Funny how he is so popular now, but before his popularity he was doing obscure shows like this one. For one of his earlier dubs, he still does a very good job! He puts so much effort into his characters! If you wanna see one of Vic Mignognas earlist roles give this show a shot!
As for the monster designs, they were AWESOME!!! It reminded me of the Guyver, with a guy who turn into some sort of alien killing machine and fight other grotesque looking monsters. Infact, this and the guyver have alot in common. Such as the female character who wants to find out the the male chracter is doing half the time. I could compare the two for ages!
Although this show is great, it does have flaws. First of all, the story. It started off SO well! But by the last episode it just became overly complex with its multiple characters and jibber jabber about time travel. Second, wereas the fight scenes were decent, they were too short and kind of boring. It would useally follow a simple formula: Gawl meets monster, Gawl transforms, monster attacks Gawl, Gawl avoids attack and gawl kills monster with finnishing blow. Rinse and repeat. Lastly, i would of liked Gawl and Misami to confess that they liked each other. I was SOOOO hoping they would lol. Oh well
Overall, apart from these minor flaws, Generator Gawl is a very underrated show that has solid animation, cool monster designs, great chracters and a great dub! If your into Guyver, give it a go!

Waiting in the Summer
Could you blame me for wanting to compare this with Please Teacher first and foremost? Look at the premise! There’s the socially awkward leading male, part of a tight-knit group of friends, who has an encounter with a red-haired, female alien which develops into something more.
It even has a similar bucolic-small-town-with-wide-green-open-spaces setting. And the same understated fanservice. The humour, too. Drama as well.
In many ways it’s even as good as Please Teacher.
There really is so much to like. The warm and amusing interactions and developments between the friends make for compelling viewing. What does jar is the sci-fi element. It’s not really an important plot point, more a MacGuffin to initiate the love complications. There’s also the matter of a copyright defying plot device to help when things look hopeless in the final episode.
That aside, there is great music (I love the opening theme, “Signal”.) coupled with very likable characters. It even keeps the characters consistent, unlike Please Teacher that derailed its characters in the final episode. The romance portion is sweet indeed, not contrived at all. It is nurtured gently throughout the series with not a shoehorn in sight.
So in the end Waiting in the Summer is a very enjoyable title and deserves 8.5/10. Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) - Episode 1
This review/rating will be a little confused, because after I watched the episode, I enjoyed it so much that I read the first 11 chapters of the manga, so some of my opinion may be based on what I know of the rest of the story.
This anime has really nice pacing in the first episode (in my opinion), and I loved the setting and premise. It was a simple one, but leads to an explorable depth to each of the characters that I quite enjoyed. The artwork is fantastic. I really like the colours, character and object designs, and the animation itself. It's certainly improved over the style of the manga. Although I was really young when I read it, this anime/manga reminds me a little of Spriggan/Striker.
Overall, I give this episode an 8/10, because although I like it, I had to remove at least a point due to the content (you'll know which part when you watch it).
