Rate the last anime you watched out of 10

Think the last anime I watched was Cromartie High School. I'll give it a 9/10. It doesn't have a story to it since its totally random each episode but it did bring me smiles and laugher.

Trigun - 7/10

Awesome show but the ending kinda let it down. Shame really cause it was awesome up until about hte last 2 episodes.

GunXSword: Complete Series ; 10/10

My second favourite anime. I have watched the whole series three times now and still adore it greatly. Some scenes are so epic and mesmirising that I want to bear tears;.... although I do not because I am not that emotional and have never cried as a result of any media source or programme.

Lunar Legend Tsukihime 9/10
Loved the show from start to finish. Here's the thing though,I owe tons of anime and watched even more on fansub ,but when I pressed the stop button at the end ,the overwhelming emotion I felt was saddness for the first time having watched an anime.
I don't know if this has been done before or even needs a seperate post.My question is what was your overiding emotion or feeling when you came to the end of a particular anime series?

BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad 10/10

Didn't expect much from this anime show but I was wrong, thought it was going to be a terrible musical anime but turn out great. The dub casting for this show was top notch.

I would suggest everyone to give this series a try.

Well, on second viewing of Serial Experiments Lain and in one go, I'm giving it an 8. A vast improvement from the first time I watched it, which I spread out over a couple of weeks. There are just some anime which need to be watched as an entire series over the weekend. I actually understood what was going on in it. Great series with a very interesting message. It really makes you think.

Hmm, I got a couple of cheapo dvds which I gotta get through.......Landlock, Rayearth, & Bubblegum Crash. 50p each, not bad.

You could actually start a new topic on this. I know I would like to post in such thread.

I remember there was such a topic a little while ago...although it pleases me to see Tsukihime get such a score (Manga adaption is still the best one but the anime is good)

Elfen Lied Complete 8/10

I thought this was a solid series and that it was well worth the purchase even though i'm not normally one for gore and ecchiness. The only thing i disliked was the way the series ended and left me needing to know what happened next.

I watched Rayearth today, I'd give it about 5. Too girly and not much of a story. It's not bad, the animation is pretty decent but just not much going on. Reminds me a lot of the FF games, with the 'summon' creatures. But whatever the case, it was worth 50p. Bubblegum Crash next up.

Ouran High School Host Club - 7.5/10
Not the best comedy anime I've ever watched (that ranking goes to Azumanga Diaoh) but it's strangely compelling and pleasent to watch, the characters are all very loveable and the dynamics between the host club members make the show well worth the attention, even if you're not really a shojo person. Also worth it for the commoner jokes :)

DearS - 5/10

DearS is a combination of a failed Chobits clone (lacking any of the warmth that made that series so endearing) and, depending on your gender, offensive pro-slave rubbish. It's also uneventful, lacking a story and instead containing the same perverted nonsense you've seen before already until the episode count reaches 12-13.

To start with, the premise is beyond dumb. A UFO crashes into Japan, 150 aliens - who happen to be submissive hotties - emerge, and they're welcomed by the world. Because humans are, as we all know, kind and understanding creatures by nature, no attempts were made to capture and experiment on the aliens. It's the sort of plot element that would only work in a hentai. Or Melody of Oblivion.

...oh yes, hentai material. Have I covered the part where DearS all wear dog collars and are happy to be slaves, doing whatever their master wants, including sex? It's like sitting through the wet dream of a pre-pubescent retard. I'm sure most female viewers would find it slightly offensive to see females wearing dog collars and being happy to get in the kitchen when told - a great fan pleasing idea.

As for the characters, Ren (the Chi of DearS) is blank, having zero personality. She also looks bad because of the crappy art - not at all fap worthy. And Takeya, the lucky lead, is a complete ********, never being a man and always being a complete **** to Ren. He even tells her to go home and cook his food, also ordering her to clean his room. He lacks any likeability. The only character with any depth whatsoever in this mess is the pink-haired DearS, whose name I've already forgot.

On the plus side, DearS is easy to watch. It's so simple and stupid that it's possible to watch it for four hours, miss lines of dialogue and still understand what's going on. If you happen to be braindead or looking for something that's easy to watch, despite being dull, DearS is for you. I only managed to sit through it all because I wasn't required to use my brain and could just chill.

Alongside Melody of Oblivion, DearS has made for a great start to going through my DVD backlog. I can't wait to have a look at Petite Princess Yucie and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar. By the end of watching all the wonderful series I've collected on DVD, my mental state might reach the stage where life will seem too painful.

Overall, I suggest avoiding DearS unless A) your dream woman wears a dog collar and stays in the kitchen or B) you're an idiot who paid money for the series because it's an OOP Geneon title. Stick to Chobits and avoid this poor attempt at copying it.

FWIW, and you might know this, but the manga was created by two women. Does this change your opinion at all?

/loves Peach-Pit

I own Rozen Maiden and was aware of the gender of Peach Pit beforehand.

It's true that the story would seem to be the sort to come from the twisted mind of a male, but the gender of who created the story changes nothing about how offensive it would be to most women and how **** the series is. I fail to see your...point?

You seem to believe it's acceptable for an anime to have such stories just because the stories are in animated form. That way of thinking means you don't respect anime and instead think of it as a way to simple see perverted goings on you wouldn't in any other medium. That logic is why, instead of attempts at creating original and intelligent stories every season, most anime studios instead opt to create something involving school girls.

I actually liked DearS more than Chobits. I saw both as completely shallow, pandering pet girl series, only DearS was open about it and didn't attempt to have an ineffective emotional plot the way Chobits did. I despise Chii. DearS also had the awesome teacher and sillier music.

DearS *is* a shameless rip off of the earlier, but Chobits wasn't terrifically original either so I can't really feel too sorry for it. They're both C-rank shows but I'd rather a second season of DearS came out than any more of that irritating Chii.

I rated the Chobits manga 9/10 and the anime 7/10.

Chobits did have the same perverted nature but there seemed to be more than S&M gear, dog collars and panty shots in that. I cared for the characters because the lead was a nice guy and Chi developed as the story progressed (plus she actually looked cute), becoming more human. I was actually quite touched be the ending, too.

All of the females in DearS were no more than objects, there to be used and abused by males and all after the leads dick - even his underage sister. (I know Chi was literally an object in Chobits but she wasn't treated that way.) It was impossible to care about any of them, or care about anything that went on. Ren was a terrible character, the only development she received involving melon bread.
