I like this film quite a bit, the soundtrack is really cool and the general aesthetic is super pleasing, from the character designs to the fashion itself, the world depicted within Ocean Waves is one that I wish I could live in, at the same time it's a film that conjured up feelings of nostalgia for days gone by. A film that is as relaxing as the ocean waves themselves.
The pacing of Ocean Waves was picture-perfect for the story it depicted. It is quite a pity that films of its genre were never an emphatic point of Ghibli's output, perhaps due to its successes elsewhere.
(Not that I would point any of my usual fingers towards any of my usual victims of finger-pointing at this instance.)

No disagreement here, I think it's a fine film (and that poster is wonderful). Seeing as GKids aren't dubbing this one (unlike Only Yesterday), it'll be interesting to see if StudioCanal (re-)release it over here theatrically/on Blu-Ray. Here's hoping!
Funimation have announced that both Aria the Scarlet Ammo AA and Valkyrie Drive Mermaid will be receiving English dubs and a home video release for April 2017.
It's currently priced at 30USD and will be released on March 7th, but might be a better deal for those can't afford the UE and/or want the dub in high quality. Worth noting it is very very likely to be region A locked though.
