Sailor Moon R Set 2 has a defect issue and Viz Media have announced replacements.

More info here

Recently ordered this from UP1USA, wonder what this means for my order then hmmm

As it's 1 disc I'd suspect they won't have issued a recall and you'll have to put your name down for Viz's replacement programme, lets hope they are cool and will assist non US customers. I suppose it's possible UP1 might be able to talk to Viz about being supplied with replacement discs, but that'd be a bit unusual I'd suspect.

If I remember correctly, didn't Manga UK face a similar issue when they were trying of putting together a Mamoru Hosoda boxset for the release of Wolf Children, due to the rights to the movies being held by different companies?

Well that logic just got blown out of the window. A 4 film collector's edition box set is being made in France by Kaze.

The four films are The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children & The Boy And The Beast.

I'd have to guess that like with the disc replacement for Kyatto-Ninden Teyandee they'll get the replacement discs and send them out when they get them, but that does depend on how viz deals with the replacement procedure since like when NISA issued a replacement disc for daily lives of high school boys you had to go through them to get it (although they didn't get all anal if you weren't in the US).

For your information, i did get the replacement discs immediately when i ordered Daily Lives of High School Boys through UP1USA, so maybe who knows UP1USA can also handle this for Sailor Moon 2 Part 2, like demonix says it all depends on Viz Media.

Dang - there was an issue with Kyatto-Ninden Teyandee? What was it, if you don't mind my asking? I have a box set of that which I haven't got around to watching yet.

EDIT: Just found out. Apparently the subtitles on episode 9 are mis-timed. I've checked my copy and there's no issue. So I'm guessing there must have been a new print run which fixed the problem.

They actually issued a replacement disc for those who already has the set (I'd had my set mixed in with a batch of other items that shipped after the release and the replacement disc was included in the batch if I remember correctly) and would have been included in any further batch that was shipped to retailers (since any unshipped sets that has the defective disc would have has it replaced and all sets after that would have included the fixed disc), but they didn't fix all the subtitle timing issues as there's a brief section of mis-timed subtitles before the break in the episode right after the known subtitle timing issues.

I can live with a few wonky subs. I've seen plenty of sub-only shows that had 'em, after all.

Sounds like nothing to worry about, but thanks for the clarification.

Just a reminder for anyone interested, US distributor Twilight Time will be releasing a limited set of copies for Space Pirate Captain Harlock on Blu-ray.

By limited I mean there's only 3500 being made with no reprints planned whatsoever. Pre-orders begin November 20th with a release date for December 8th 2015. You can only get this item through Twilight Time's main website and Screen Archives, both of which ship internationally.

The Blu-ray set includes both International and Director's Cuts on 2D and 3D. This is ideally the best version for the English audience thus far as the UK & Australian versions only have the International cut on Blu-ray (2D & 3D) with the Director's cut on PAL DVD. The official Hong Kong release does have the Director's cut on Blu-ray with some minor subtitle issues.

Why did our version not have the directors cut?

It does. Only on DVD.

Apparently it's because of Toei Animation. Twilight Time was able to get access to it because one of the staff members is close friends with someone who works at Toei so they managed to arrange a deal. Twilight Time deals with very limited edition films so it makes sense to hand it to them so that reverse importation won't be a problem. Most of their films are region free.

Rightstuf have confirmed that Gundam Wing will be coming to Blu-ray, but it will take some time for its initial release.
This i am happy about. Hopefully AL will release not too long in the future as i would love to replace my Beez anime legends dvd release as the subtitles are a mess (some missing). I do like the dub but i prefer to watch anime subbed.

Sort of surprising. I love the show but I already bought it more than once, so they're going to have to do something incredible to persuade me to take an interest again >_>
