Night on the Galactic Railroad is my most wanted release of the year, but I've heard bad things about the Japanese Blu-Ray release so I've revised my expectations downwards. I'd be in for a Wicked City Blu-Ray if that was on the cards, I've suggested that crowdfunding the creation of a new master could be an option.

Discotek are seemingly determined to unload awesome all over us at every turn!

Venus Wars Blu Ray actually makes me sad that it almost certainly won't work on a UK player. Mind you, I just replaced my old CPM DVD edition wth their re-release. And that's perfectly lovely.

It makes me really sad there isn't a company like Diskotek in the UK. But being realistic, very few of their titles would sell well over here - they'd probably be lucky to do 100 copies on most of them. A shame, as I'd love to see more old stuff make its way over here.

I'm going to have to buy a few of those Discotek releases:

Beelzebub - always wanted to watch this
Space Adventure Cobra - a fellow members screengrabs of the show has made me want to check out the movie
Kyousougiga - definitely looks up my street
Magic Knight Rayearth - vintage anime classic that I think will look great on BD

I would say that it depends on the market strategy and the title. If you were to sell a Robot Carnival or Animal Treasure Island Blu-Ray that was limited to 1000 copies w/ a booklet and some extras then I'm cautiously optimistic that they'd sell out. It's about managing to appeal to both the 'Neo' demographic and the 'Sight & Sound' demographic at the same time, I think.

It would be nice if Discotek could make more (any?) of their Blu-ray releases region B compatible. I guess there are reasons they can't but given that they tend to release things that are niche within a niche you'd think it would be easier than with "bigger" titles.

There are a few things I'd like to get anyway.

Looks like some of Funimation's upcoming Limited Edition releases will not be the standard chipboard artbox sets we usually see. So far these two will instead be getting different treatment:

Dragonar Academy - Complete Series
Format: Blu-ray/DVD
Region: A|B|1|2|4
Contents of LE: Fairy Tail Part release style slipcover with 6 artcards to display on the front

Fullmetal Alchemist - Complete Series
Format: Blu-ray
Region: A
Contents of LE: Holographic foil soft box, a small booklet, and 10 artcards (different to the CE)

Danganronpa the Animation, Noein ~ to your other self and Tokyo Ghoul (LE version) should still retain the simple chipboard style sets.

I'm confused by this. So is the red thing in the FMA CE pics a chipboard box? And to get this the only option is to pay £90 more than the LE...?

Also slightly confused by the Dragonar Academy... Looking in their shop...

The one on the right looks like the slipcover but are you saying the one on the left is too?

For FMA, yeah pretty much the CE version has a chipboard artbox but it's got a digipack, which concerns me (and I fully expect some people will have to complain about their discs).

For Dragonar, the one on the right is the standard slipcover but the one on the left was presumably the original LE cover, but now it's one of the artcard covers. This is what the LE will look like. The ANN ad banner also showed the artcards:

Seems kind of reasonable. The £ is doing well against the CAD of late so I know that about 31 CAD ~ £15... so twice that. Can't prepay customs on Amazon CA though...

Well, i'm hoping the price will translate to usd and we'll get a similar price when it eventually becomes available for pre-order on United Publications but tbh... Even if it's 89.98 CAD or even USD, I'll still be getting it.

Sounds like Funimation is getting through One Piece pretty fast. Season Seven Voyage Four has been listed on Amazon Canada also, for December 15th. Should be Episodes 422-432/433?

The Toonami block in North America just announced some news:

– Intruder 2 will now start November 7 during DBZ Kai commercial breaks. It will run for 6 weeks.
– The Toonami app will launch November 2 and its FREE.
– The Toonami comic will also launch November 7.
– The dub premier of Parasyte will debut on October 3 at 1 AM.

Parasyte will be replacing Sword Art Online II.

I always find what Toonami is showing an interesting barometer of shows that end up having a long shelf life after their initial streaming run, as they essentially get a second stint in the sun, ie. Currently with Akame Ga Kill.

Parasyte was a no brainier, but would love to know what else they have in mind. I'm still surprised they went with Michiko and Hatchin if I'm honest.

I wonder if Akame ga Kill! might taper off towards the end of it's run, because some of it's biggest problems only become apparent towards the end of it's run (like literally every single on screen character falling in love with Tatsumi)
