Ah Haruhi talk again.
I don't see any use in watching it out of order, its a relic of the 2006 season intentionally made that way by kyoani at the time to give the season a 'satisfying conclusion' as chronologically the last episode is a bit dull in terms of anything action or suspense. Chronologically is the way the original source material is structured too. The 2009 broadcast order is the way I watch it and always have done. I find it works far better watching it this way to set you up for the disappearance movie too, which for the record is a masterpiece even if you didnt like the show much. The goal for most first time watchers of the series these days is to see what the fuss is about over the movie, so why not go in as prepared as possible? Of course I pray daily for a third season
, but I don't think it will ever happen. The newest light novel came out after 9 years and I'm very excited to add that to my book collection.. its a nice consolation
Having said that, with monogatari, its been released almost exactly the same way the light novels have came out, other than Hana which came out a year after the second season for some reason (if you live in the UK though, the second season boxset actually includes this in the correct order, Hana is straight up not included in the japanese set and unsure about the US set) or the kizu movies which the original light novel of that came out straight after bake but shaft waited until 2017 as they wanted a big budget for them. The 2 ways to watch monogatari is to either follow the picture with 12 covers as i said in an earlier reply (thats the official tv release order) or place kizu after bake and slip Hana in between Kabuki and Otori (once again, the UK second season boxset does this for you anyway) Any other way doesnt make any sense to me for a first time watcher. I'm curious how much of a trainwreck watching it chronologically would be, and when i get the final 3 parts from MVM I will be doing it for a laugh.
One more thing as I see talk about it, I've unironically watched the endless eight over ten times, never skip it on the rewatch hahaha. Nagato is the best.
