Marvel vs Capcom 3

Mine arrive yesterday but got back from BVE at 11 and I was massively tired. Read the comic though. Only 12 pages are actually comic, the rest is an art book (albeit a rather nice art book).

Got me the GAME edition, so i got meself a t-shirt with it. NO DLC available yet, but i expect it'll appear soon. Gonna get an hour in before i need to go uni to get work done.

I have played it and it is glorius. I suck hard at it but I'm learning =3 Wesker, Chris and Viper looks to be my main. Chris is a beast.

Just beat the arcade mode with that team, Galactus isn't as cheap as people seem to say, albeit I was playing on easy, but I also know there must be ways around his attacks that I wasn't aware of.

I have one problem with the game at the moment. and that's finding ranked matches. It's seriously stupid the system they have running for it. Why can't they just show you who's got a session up and let you join whichever you choose like SSFIV? Urgh.

Other than that, really enjoying it myself. Been mucking about with a lot of the capcom players mostly, so i'm gonna take a look into the Marvel ones more when i next go on. So far, Wesker is a main, Chun Li is as well and third spot is still up for grabs. Chris i'm still getting used to.

K either my team choice was good, I got lucky or I dunno but G-man is kicking me into the ground with spidey, deadpool and iron man...

Struggling to perfect Chris' combo punch. I think I've got it now, but it's delicate timing and hammering away only gets you so far to bypass it =p

Really loving the game so far though, dig how different many of the characters are, though some feel like they got stiffed. Doom has barely any specials, I think just a quarter fwd, quarter back and a dragon punch iirc, whereas Dante has a shedload. Sure they combo off of his existing moves but he still has a stupidly long moves list.

Also Chris' prone move...I don't know what the point of that is...

Still haven't taken the game online because I can't seem to ween myself off mashing when things get hectic in arcade. There's far too much going on for my slow mind to process ;_;

Which control style are you using, Normal or Simple?

Also, we should really try and get all of us on at some point to have a few games, i'd warn you though, ilmae joining us would mean we all get slaughtered, hah. But yeah. I'll take him down >.>

Was finally able to beat a few of the level 7 missions, the hulk up to level 9 is simple to do compared to the rest, as soon as i moved onto someone like Ryu at that level, i was caught off guard by the 12-13 long combo. Tis madness, but i'll get the hang of it eventually.

Normal control. I may not the skill or reflexes, but I do have my pride!

It's more trying to work out how to approach the game (like ways to get in close for a combo without eating a lot of crap in the process) and the situations when it's most effective to work in assists and whatnot. There's a fair bit to think about.

Yeah some of it is pretty daunting, but i still feel it's a bit more accessible than that of SSFIV, say.

I was in a few games this morning doing a couple of ranked matches and i suffered from this. I went up against the same guy twice using Magneto/ Wolverine/Sentinel and it pissed me off. He didn't really combo, all he did was push you back, call in magneto and spam his ranged attack with partnering sentinel for a ranged also. I raged. It's always so bad, Wesker and Morrigan have a good couple of moves to get you in close(teleport for wesker and morrigans dash mid air or norm. All i know is i don't want to fight Magneto again =/

The don't call him Mag-f'n-neto for nothing :p

I have to say anti-air is something I need to work on defending against. I also don't like that holding back is block. I know it's a fighting game tradition but I find it unwieldy, advancing guard helps, but I'm still trying to get it to work properly.

Gotta say though this game has some of the best visual and audio design around. So glad they got DC Douglas to voice Wesker. I mean I'm glad they got all the official voice actors but Wesker especially.

I love his "You're worth NOTHING TO ME!" line. It's delivered with such hate before the hyper combo, awesome.

What do you guys do for the voices? mine are all set to english except Ryu. I'm not sure why, but I feel that his voice should always be in japanese.

I've switched Viper to Wolverine in my team (in X-force colours) he suits my play style more. Beaten arcade with Wesker, Deadpool, Chris and Spider-man now. Spidey's ending is kind of amusing just for how incredibly sombre the music is. You'd think he'd just got his uncle killed again instead of JJ chewing him out which happens more or less every day.

@Sparrow: Wesker is exactly as hoped voice wise. If he wasn't i'd rage. In terms of voices though, i have a few in japanese which i think should be(Chun Li, Viper for that awesome voice, Ryu, Zero, Tron, and i think morrigan and Hsein-Ko) but everyone else is English, since the DMC and Resi teams wouldn't sound right otherwise..

I've still only completed two arcades though, Chun Li and Wesker. May complete a couple more tonight depending on time. Most of my time has been thrown into Mission Mode. Hulk has 8 done, 9th is annoying, and Wesker i believe is onto his 8th now too. Took a while to get used to, but i'm getting it now. I just need people to practice against, and not ranked matches all the time.

I just gave up and admitted mission mode is not for me =P I'm happy enough with CPU and Arcade battles though =3

I'll have to check out Viper's japanese voice, I thought about changing Chun-li too, but her english voice is fine and she's chinese anyways so I thought it would be weird =P

Zero and Tron I'm happy to leave english since I like Johnny Yong Bosch and they're from the side of anime/games that I like to call Saturday morning anime, stuff like pokémon, astro boy etc that used to be on english speaking tv a lot and so doesn't seem so weird hearing them in english.

Side0not: wesker's japanese voice actor is Alucard from Hellsing, which is probably one of the most perfect casting choices ever if the english VA wasn't already spot-on.

Been a busy day today, so I played this in the morning then later on at a friends house then again all night until now, about to go to bed but I'll post this first. This game is a lot like Tatsunoko vs Capcom but it's very easy to get into plus I find it so much easier to input the commands on a 360 pad rather than a GC controller. At the moment I'm using Felicia/Skrull/Doom, I really hate Felicia but she's actually fun to play as, trying out Hsien-Ko too. Done quite a few missions, some I just can't connect well like those starting with Air S and then going into Crouching L like Chris mission 4 for example. Got up to mission 7 done for Haggar and 6 done for several other characters like Hulk, Storm, Felicia, etc.

I'm getting better as I go along, probably going to give a lot into this game, considering getting a fight stick for it, I'm getting near the end of my tether with inputs for missions, since they're so unforgiving and grant you a split second to input whatever. I REALLY like Skrull but I may drop him, when I go to combo I like to start off with two light attacks but if you hit any button twice... TENDERIZER, it's really irritating. X-23 is surprisingly fun too even if her character in the comics is awful.

Also played online earlier, won one game and lost two, one game I lost legit, but the first game I lost, when I tried to jump it was like I was on the ******* MOON, the netcode for this game is pretty ****** and whenever I try to find a game on XBL I'm usually greeted with "Lost connection" or "Could not connect with host" which is apparently a common thing for a lot of people, this game needs a patch pretty badly.

But yeah, aside from that great game, has some issues and it's a little bare bones due to Capcom pushing it out for the end of their fiscal year, but there will be more to come I'd assume. Really enjoying this game, gonna hit training mode a lot tomorrow so I can master my team the best I can.

Oh and for Japanese/English voices since it gives you so many options which I'm surprised at...

DMC cast = English
RE cast = English
Darkstalker cast = Japanese
Street Fighter cast = Japanese (Except C.Viper since she's American)
Mega Man cast I can't remember...
Arthur, Spencer and Haggar are all in English though.

I was just thinking, anyone else think Asgard is one of the gayest stages ever? with all the unicorns and rainbows etc =P i mean I get it's a fantasy world but still lol

edit: THIS JUST IN!

http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog ... _explosion

Costume dlc on the way march 1st for 400MS points/ $5 (I dunno what the uk store prices are for PSN) , new costume for the avengers, dante, chris and ryu.

Cap gets his current outfit, I think he's called the commander or something since Bucky is the current cap, Iron Man gets Iron Patriot, Thor gets his classic outfit, Dante gets Vergil (I think it's Vergil, not really up on DMC lore), Chris gets his RE1 outfit and Ryu gets his Street Fighter 1 look.

Shadow mode will also be released on march 1st and Jill and Shuma will be out march 15th for 400MSpoints too

Also last night Capcom unity held a vote for wanted DLC characters which is now closed. No results yet but from the look of things Frank west will be the capcom character or Megaman X and Marvel's side is somewhat more balanced though lots of Gambit, Venom and Cyclops requests.

I suppose MvC3 is more accessible in the sense that it's much easier to creating impressive looking combos and cheese your way to victory. But unlike SFIV, which is fairly straight-forward in comparison, I'm not sure what I need to do in order to improve. It doesn't help that my inputs with the TE stick are so inconsistent, and I don't seem to be getting any better.

As for the missions, they quickly go from easy to extremely difficult. Talk about disheartening. And there's STILL no demonstration of a combo, leading to many occasions where you have no clue about the timing.

Yeah, I'm not sure the game is for me. Learning one character is tough enough, but three, and with all the assists and everything? I can't get my head around it. I'll keep going for a while but I can't help but feel my time would be better spent learning how to play Blazblue properly.

Played some games last night with Arbalest, although a little laggy early on they were some good games overall. Right now my main team is Hsien-Ko/Akuma/Magneto. They seem to fair better than my last effort plus using Tenrai Ha for OTG damage is just TOO GOOD. Had a great game last night which was really intense against some guy spamming with Arthur and Sentinel raped him pretty bad until he went Golden Armor/X-Factor and started completely destroying me, but he lost his X-Factor and armor and rushed towards me with Arthur so I just used Tenrai Ha as he was in mid-dash. It was matches like that I wish this game had a record match feature.

OTG = Off The Ground

Moves which can hit the other player while they're laying on the ground like Hsien-Ko's Tenrai Ha or Mangeto's Shockwave.
