I know Jeremy might never see this but twitter is away to short to write something like this.

Jeremy i wanna get some gold old classics but they are hard to find nowadays and since I'm not from the Uk, i can only buy them online. Is there any chance for a re-release for the following classics?

Perfect Blue
Millenium Actress
Street Fighter movies
The professional: Golgo 13
Patlabor movies

Anyway, im gonna tweet a like for this reply so maybe i might get an answer...
I seem to remember that they mentioned Perfect Blue in their podcast, how it's never really been a good seller over here and how it has such a high asking price to license it.

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

Its a shame indeed, one of the best movies ever in my opinion and not only me for sure. I hope I can get them one day.

A bundle with perfect blue/Mil Actress would be great.

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

We know they definitely don't have Perfect Blue or Millennium Actress anymore so cannot just re-release them. The impression from various podcasts etc. is that Kon stuff never really sells very well.

Regarding Patlabor: "Unless a licensor comes to us with something special like an HD transfer from a telecine print of a classic anime movie like FOTNS, Wings Of Honnemise, Patlabor, etc, we are not interested."

Someone still has UK rights to Street Fighter as they're on iTunes:

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/movie/id366920315
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/movie/id329226930

I assume it is Manga since Alpha is on the SEN via Starz.

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

I cannot sit here & believe that the likes of 'Paprika' doesn't sell well :/ My friends who don't even watch Anime have it .. the cover is pretty appealing.

I'm probably just in denial though, as I too would love a newer version of PB/MA/TG

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

Perfect Blue would be great!

I'd love to know if Manga will be putting out the bluray for the Devilman OVA collection that came out in Japan last December. But as it's Go Nagai I can't see it happening, though I'd love to be wrong.

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

Just wanted to say I'm glad to see Bakuman finally making it over here =D As a complete series too.

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

Random question, do the Dragonball Z DVDs have the 'rock the dragon' opening? Or has it been changed to the one that's shown on the Dragonball Z Kai series?

they're the orange bricks. They have 3 audio tacks
English TV dub (with the different music)
English dub (original japanese music)
Japanese dub

People have no taste.

You mean they don't have the same taste as you. Taste is subjective from person to person, be kind of boring if everyone had the same taste.

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

I disagree, MY taste is superior to all! It's just a matter of time until people understand that.

make sure we remember to get the HOTD OVA in may

I'm not bothering with it as its dull. I saw a 1080p fansub of it when it came out. It looked great, but was basicly 15 minutes of them on an island in the smallest bikini's they could find with no zombies.

I'd rather have a second series.

We have some great announcements on the new @MangaUK podcast!

There are two Manga UK podcasts to be released next week and we can expect some new annoucements.

Monday 11st and Firday 15th.

So anyone wanna say some names or have some expectations? Maybe some release dates for Steins Gates and others that dont have yet one.

*Cross fingers for big name announcements*

Re: Manga Entertainment Discussion Thread.

It's a shame that MangaUK don't seem to want to play ball with Universal with A Certain Magical Index, so I guess I'll have to rely on MVM or Anime Limited...or just get FUNimation's release.

If I remember though, there are some MangaUK titles that we don't have dates for that have come out in the States, like Aria of the Scarlet Ammo. Looking at Kazé's website as well, it seems like the French are getting Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust in June. Maybe we could get a little poke saying to expect it here later in the year? Or a poke on whether a Blue Exorcist dub boxset is coming or a release date for Kazé's Mirai Nikki? (They did pick that one up for physical distribution didn't they? If not, that can be an announcement!).

Due to Comic Con being just around the corner, I doubt we'll see a huge list of new announcements as the biggest will probably be saved for Comic Con (I just hope they can confirm whether or not they are seriously looking into the possibility of a showing of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica movies later this year. It bugs the hell out of me that the UK was one of the only major countries not to receive one last year). Bakemonogatari seems like one that would be saved for something like that, as it is a pretty high profile release and one of the most requested I've seen.

In terms of new licenses though, I'd like to see Kokoro Connect and Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions announced at some point, but they're both so recent that the earliest I can see them coming out here would be 2014 (6 months after final Japanese release for America, then another 3 months for UK). I'd love to see Beelzebub, but I doubt MangaUK will want to risk such a long series that they'd have to release as sub-only. Maybe Bunny Drop? If I remember correctly, in the past Jerome has spoke highly of the series, but I just wonder if something like that will sell (for the record, I'd totally love to see Wandering Son too, but not even the US has picked that one up). Is This A Zombie? might be a possible license. I also wouldn't mind knowing if MangaUK are going to try releasing Squid Girl season 2 as sub only or not.

But really Manga, all you have to do is say the magic words "We will be rereleasing The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and K-ON! on blu-ray".

Speaking of MangaUK though, I just found out that the Kazé France Bakuman release is BD as well (most likely because it has a French dub). Would it have killed Kazé to simply put the English subtitle track on that release for those who would have liked it on blu-ray? I respect that sub-only releases are still new territory so the already risky blu-ray would be a bad idea here and that Kazé might not want to put English subtitles on a French release that they intend to release a few months down the line in England, out of fear of it cannabilasing sales, but...
I just hope that due to the weird situation with Media Blasters and the dub that this kind of thing is only a one-off.
