I’ve tried getting into a few gacha games over the years (HSR, a bit of FGO, and a couple others), and at first I genuinely enjoyed them. The production quality is really high, the characters are well designed, and the story can actually be pretty engaging. For a while it feels like a normal RPG with regular updates. But after some time I started noticing a pattern. You grind for resources, save up pulls, and then everything comes down to RNG. Sometimes you get what you want, sometimes you don’t, and that feeling of “just one more pull” starts creeping in. Add limited banners and time pressure on top of that, and it becomes less about enjoying the game and more about not missing out.
I also found that the longer I played, the more my progress felt tied to luck or new characters rather than what I had already built. That kinda took away the satisfaction for me. So yeah, I can see why people enjoy these games, but personally they started to feel a bit too close to gambling for my liking. I’d rather play something where progression feels more in my control.
