Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, you're the best
Oboro-sama, from your haughty teasing ara~aras that cheer me when I log on to the utter destruction you wreak upon our enemies now that my fingers have learned where you like them, to the spinning dance of instant death you manage all by yourself in the arena, to discover that my favourite girl also fits my preferred play style is wonderful. Please forgive all that time I've spent with Asagi, my heart, all of the seasonal event Christmas cake and that six star advancement pass I’d been saving for a special occasion belongs to you. Darling, you're the best.
Azusa is here! Azusa is already level 60 and my third most powerful girl after less than a week. The rewards for levelling her up make it absolutely worthwhile, I almost feel bad for the people who bought her with real money and levelled her up before the Christmas event kicked off, since they could have been earning stupid amounts of event currency while doing it. I don't know if it's just because she's new and she needs nerfing or what but now Azusa is the one who's killing it in the arena, she's ostensibly the weakest of the three but nobody is even getting past her to Oboro, let alone final boss Asagi. I did not buy any Christmas outfits with gems in the end, I've since had the opportunity to get three via other means anyway, I'm just a bit peeved that neither Oboro's nor Ingrid's appear to be making a comeback this year since theirs are by far the nicest looking. Fingers crossed for New Year, my girl needs that kimono.
So after nearly a month with Action Taimanin, I have to say I'm enjoying it a whole lot. It has the odd issue, sometimes the arena will just crash on my phone mid-match (I've since taken to only playing the arena on desktop) and occasionally the camera angles cock up and I can't see where my character is behind large enemies leading me to screw up fights, but I think I'd agree with the Steam reviewer who called it a gacha that "respects your time". There always seems to be something new to do so I don't get bored or feel like I have to keep grinding, or want to
keep playing but find myself having to stop due to a lack of resources (
cough*Tacticus*cough). It's true that some of the things available to buy in game
are hideously expensive, I don't particularly condone the £45/£90 character packs, but I've yet to feel constrained by the fact I'm not spending much either, the odd £1-4 here and there is pretty good value for the fun I'm having. I've also really clicked with the game's daft self-aware sense of humour, the event that had me fighting "General Virgin and the Army of Singles" mad at the player character for getting to spend time with all the hot female characters and the well-meaning gangsters in the Christmas event have been particular highlights. Can I have a job please, Lilith? I think I would be pretty good at writing these kinds of scenarios. You can pay me in Oboro merch. I was actually feeling a bit disapointed about all the content I've missed out on and won't get to play, but then the
roadmap for the coming year came out and includes plans for new "Story Archive Mode" that will let people do exactly that. Yay.
