How are you finding it so far? I heard it was really good from a character writing and banter perspective with the cast.

I am not sure if I want to get another game running though, between SOC/HSR and Nikke I am keeping busy enough probably lol.

I got Aventurine sort of ready now, he's got OK relics (nothing special but not bad) and I got him and his LC to 80, done all the outer traces so just working on getting the internal ones up a few levels. I'd say he's probably good enough to run now over Natasha.

I got MoC to 33/36 stars, and it's the first time I completed the 12th level even though it took too many rounds and I only got 1 star on it!

I can see he's not perfect and the Fribbels thing seems to agree. This tool will be really useful for seeing what relics I should look at improving upon first!

Acheron is a bit better built but also needs improvement.

Classic school slacker March 7th getting an F 🤣

So first impressions are very positive, I delayed starting it because I was tired of anticipating the generic Gacha game opening sequence of "the world is screwed, you have amnesia, go pull waifu's to fight back." Even the best written games in the genre still use this trope or parts of it to open up their world building. But shockingly that isn't what happened in this game. The opening chapters have quite a bit of comic relief and introduce their characters like it's a SOL anime, which is another trope but is still a breath of fresh air for me. The world is still screwed and you still have to pull waifu's to save it but it introduces the threat a little bit later on, but not so far later that you get bored reading the story.

tl;dr I am pleasantly surprised. Gameplay is pretty solid as well and has a few more strategic options beyond "when do I want to time my ultimate."

I'll sleep on it see how I'm feeling on it tomorrow, if I start I'll use your code though.

The actual game and characters and things look great, but the combat to me looks like the weakest part visually.

I was planning to play Frostpunk 2 this week but it's disappointed me vs how good FP1 was, so I'm on the hunt for something else to play whilst I'm just farming materials in the 3 games above and awaiting updates and events and things.

Yeah I play no more than 2 at a time
I dropped FGO for this one, I will give it a few days to see if I want to stick with it or not. That's the thing with these games is you want to avoid getting attached. One day the servers will stop or we will move on. If you want to avoid this one there is no harm.

Probably because Heaven Burns Red is more of a VN that happens to have gacha elements than a straight-up gacha game. Discussions from people that have played the JP version that said there's not a whole lot of FOMO in it helps. Plus, you know, the fact it's written by Jun Maeda.

I played the prologue and the first day or two of chapter 1 and really enjoyed the writing, but as with many things, I just don't have the time to play it right now on top of everything else. Maybe sometime in the future.

HSR 2.7 live stream tomorrow I think?

New banners and classes look interesting and make me ponder what to pull/save for, but I won't spoil everything I know so far here in case people haven't been following and want to see info via the stream :)

Alright update was interesting! I tuned in for once :)

So we got a bunch of stuff coming that I will muse on a bit, I'll post stuff in spoilers some just in case people want to catch up with the stream later.

2.7 first half:
Sunday
Jing Yuan re-run

2.7 second half:
Fugue Tingyun
Firefly re-run

3.0
Aglaea (remembrance new character)
RMC (remebrance new path for MC)
THE HERTA (rumoured only I think but 5 * ice)

In general I would say we seem to be heading into a summon meta here? Sunday may be a requirement for future summon meta characters coming with 3.0 and onwards. I only have Lingsha at the moment who can benefit from the summon thing really though I'm sure others will appear that he can work with.

Fugue Tingyun looks good but I think she could be skippable. I love her design and things but I want functional teams before I pull for waifu. I may consider her a good re-run pick up. will depend how my pulls look but if I go for Sunday I think that she has to be skipped for now.

Remembrance and ice seems to be key as well. I think Herta will be a useful pick up along with the new remembrance character Aglaea.

Firefly good for break units but I may wait on her yet more and see what 3.0 brings us.

I like how we seem to be heading into a greek/roman mythology arc here, always a fascinating era and Aglaea design looks very good (reminds me of Himeko).

Extra stuff for the train looks really cool and finally we get to stop sleeping on the floor of March's room.

Relic updates also look extremely good and take out a lot of the RNG. I'm all for it as someone who has seen how random this can be but hasn't necessarily had to live through an age of trying to roll better gear. It looks like it will be much easier to roll the stats you want, whilst getting perfect stats still requires some RNG, serviceable stats look far easier.

Imo Fugue is designed to keep Firefly operational in place of Trailblazer. So if you love Firefly/Rappa and want to keep using them Fugue will be worth it for that.

Ah yes forgot to mention that in my musings. TB will no longer be Harmony which does mean ??? for break options. I guess new path will be stronger like each path before it was and HMC will be set aside.

I like break style but I don't have Firefly or Rappa so I have to consider what I want to do here. I think it's useful having at least one team that can run break for certain fights. My best character for break is probably Lingsha, though I think Himeko/Herta/March 7th Hunt are probably OK for it if built as well.

If you want my honest opinion I would skip the break meta entirely at this point if you don't have any of the characters to make it work. That meta is over and we are entering a new one that will supplant it and we have the opportunity here to hop on at the beginning.

Though of course if you want the characters because you like them, then don't let me stop you

Not hugely into firefly personally.

So get Sunday and skip rest awaiting 3.0?

I have about 100 pulls and no pity at the moment.

For ssr characters I've pulled kafka, bs, lingsha, acheron, aventurine. I've got bronya and himeko as my standard characters so far as well.

Firefly and Rappa are the break meta. No one else can do what they do so if you don't want Firefly that's even more reason I guess lol.

As an aside I'm thinking I might stick to Heaven Burns Red for the medium term currently. It's been pretty enjoyable so far and it's quite a chill game.

Think this is the best trio of clears I've had so far thanks to Acheron/Aventurine appearing!

I could maybe get another star or so in MoC but the rewards break stop at 33 unless you can get 36, and on this one I was a little short of doing that.

PF I definitely can't get the last star yet either but it's not miles off, just need more strength which I can get via more trace upgrades and better gear. My Lingsha/Kafka/BS traces are like 7/10 at best so a few more upgrades there.

AS no chance I can get the last star for now but happy with almost getting them all :)

Oh my goodness, I've been addicted to HBR since I heard about it from you. Despite my resolve not to add a third bloody gacha to eat into my limited time, there was no way I was going to resist the critical hit from a Jun Maeda game, that is a visual novel with turn based rpg elements. I love it, and I think the writing is hilarious with lots of colourful characters, as expected. But what's most impressive is the extent of the excellent voice acting for all the characters, though it does get a bit too shouty at times. It's totally Angel Beats the Gacha. Just steeling myself for the inevitable horrific tragedy all these poor sods will no doubt be put through courtesy of Maeda-san...
