For Criticism, ???? and Profit.

A little sketch of Ryan Gosling's character in Drive. It was just intended as a preparatory study for something one of my mates asked me to draw, but I think it came out rather well. I might see if I can redraw it to make a quick video.

Great stuff prof, the UGG fiend is great! Which reminds me, one of my friends has recently bought a pair of uggs....he's a man.....I mean there's nothin wrong with men wearing them and all...but...but there UGGS! I truly can't stand those clumsy big foot things.

Yeah... I dunno what it is about Uggs, there's just something inherently smug about having them.

Smug uggs. Oh dear.

Anyway, new video!

Slight cheat on this one as I basically just redrew it from the previous sketch. Still, I'm quite pleased at how the three-tone greyscale came out - I'll use that method again.

Result from the video can also be seen here.

Starting ̶2̶0̶1̶2̶ 1962 on the right foot.

Unfortunately, the video compression left some terrible artifacts on the final image, so go here for the result.

Heh, thanks. I'm trying to keep it classy, lest I begin some sort of Shirow-esque descent into sleaze...

On which note, my new avatar; Caska!

She's come out a bit poutier than I'd expected, but I'm extremely happy with the eyes. Eventually, I hope to have a full-length portrait, but it's probably going to take quite some time.

Cheers dude :)

I was quite pleased with the hair as well, now that you mention it. Think I'll need to try and fix her scarf next though; was a bit awkward trying to get it to sit on top of her armour.

Whoa, So that's where your new avatar comes from! Beautiful stuff there, prof. As you said, the eyes are great, but I think on the whole she's just great. Comes across as a real alpha female. The colours are also especially fantastic.

However I think the Shirow-esque descent into sleeze is inevitable, as Shirow once started off much like you, young Prof. Dominion Tank police was also his favourite anime (in his dreams), and he used to keep things classy, but alas the anthropomorphic bulls and greasy gals can only be denied for so long....

Thank you :)

I swear I'm never going near the anthrophomorphic bulls though, that is truly the path to ruin. Besides, Shirow's not such an old guy, he could still go back to making manga again... right? :(

Sorry but when I saw this I thought: Artist Formerly Known as Prince!

Followed by David Bowie in Labyrinth.

すみません!

P.S. I have little idea about Caska and what she looks like and that's still better than anything I can currently do.

Maybe it's the scarf?

Having been to GIS to refresh my memory, Prince I can kind of understand, but Bowie - really?

Here's the original for comparison:

Edit: Fixed broken link.

Dunno if anyone remembers the video drawing of Cobra I did many moons ago, but it always annoyed me that I never got it finished properly on the grounds that I was never sure of the anatomy.

Basically, this is my attempt to remedy that. Only took me two years to get around to it!

Still not totally happy with the colours, but I think this is about as far as it's going for now. Also the full version of this is A2, if anyone is crazy enough to want one for a wall hanging...
