Re: The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I don't know, but it seems like Type-Moon aren't fully on board with allowing stuff to be localised yet.

I guess so, but with the recent announcement of Melty Blood's latest arcade version (Actress Again Current Code) heading to Steam I would say that's a pretty big deal for TM fans (Melty Blood is also a visual novel and essentially a sequel/spin-off to Tsukihime).

Sekai Project were asked about it on a recent ANNCast, they gave a kind of wishy-washy answer, which was basically TM will allow it when they allow it. Who knows, maybe if Sekai Project get on PlayStation they'll be able to use it as a mark of legitimacy (although as they said on the ANNCast it might take a while, as PlayStation apparently have stringent standards).

I would honestly rather have Type Moon themselves handle the localisation or JAST USA/MangaGamer rather than Sekai Project. My problems with Sekai Project is that they have too much to sort out, some of their translations are questionable (Grisaia for example) and they are screwing over their audience who simply want the full version and not the all-ages (G-Senjou is a perfect example, a very popular VN with no news on any release for the full version). As much as I like the effort they've done for Clannad, they really shouldn't rely on Kickstarters too much either.

Re: The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I wonder if perhaps the sheer popularity of the Fate franchise is holding a localisation back due to a high asking price or standards from Type-Moon (ie the likes of MangaGamer and Sekai Project being seen as too small)?

As I understand it that's a Steam thing, isn't it? I thought Steam had rules preventing against pornographic and excessively adult material, but I suppose there's nothing to stop them patching it or just using another retailer.

I can't comment on their translations as I haven't played any of their VNs, but as a general rule I'd rather somebody with English as a first language did it (and I'd suggest Japanese companies tend not to be able to find those). I'd rather have an inaccurately translated VN that made sense, than an accurately translated VN that was unreadable.

We will have the realu Nua version and I want the vita version that has no H scenes and Fate is better without them.

I've not seen the H-scenes, but I hear they're worth it for comedy value alone...

Re: The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

If Fate/stay night was ever released internationally, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we only received the Réalta Nua version. That might also open up the option of releasing the recent PlayStation Vita port alongside the PC original.

I think we will see a FSN Kickstarter soon
To be honest, if I was in charge of managing the rights to Type-Moon properties, I doubt I'd trust their most popular franchise with a company that isn't even able or willing to shoulder all the required costs themselves; even if the hypothetical Kickstarter was to just manufacture the release and not pay for a license.

I've seen some screen-caps of fan-translated versions and can confirm that they make for good comedy. However, I'd be willing to sacrifice that for an international release.

Re: The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

I would love for melty blood to be on PS3 or 4. Obviously I would much rather fate/stay night got over to the west :D

I'd say Vita is probably more likely, but a PS4 port wouldn't go a miss.

I was saying 3 or 4 because I don't have a vita :p

I don't have a Vita either, once you buy accessories it's the same price as a PS4. So I brought the PS4 instead and I might buy the PSTV at a later date...

Well I let my bro buy the ps4, I'm happy with my ps3 and wii u for now.

Well, this is the first console I've owned since a Wii and there were more Western PS4 exclusive games calling out to me. I'm looking forward to GOD EATER though, just got to hope I've made it through my backlog by then.
