Editorial: Naruto and The Future of the UK Anime Industry

If you're going to say "Graveyard" spot one more time... get off the internet. =/

Seriously, it's only Naruto, and guess what? it's aimed at kids, deal with it. Like any civil person would buy the DVDs you cheap freeloaders, also e-mailing Jetix is just pointless, they won't listen since it's aimed at young children not teenagers. >_>
 
To be honest it's not about buying DVDs at this point, its about delivering anime to the masses in the best possible way. I'm willing to give Jetix time though- at least they're airing Naruto. I just always hoped it wouldn't be like this. Fingers crossed it turns out okay though, as long as Naruto proves popular I couldn't care less about how Jetix want to deal with it.
 
What more do you want, it's a well known anime only people who're really harsh and picky [idiots] won't watch it. I'm watching it, even though I don't really like Naruto all -that- much, I'm showing my support for Naruto to start the BANG to the UK. If you want the uncut stuff by the DVDs but at least watch the dub too, you're suddenly attacking it after you've been longing for it for ages.

Hopefully Bleach will come to the UK in September. XP

Point is why 8pm then? Cause then it's only going to be inaccessible to the kids who go to bed or are in teh process of going to bed at that time.

It makes the edits done to the US edit (and that's why I'm complaining, it's Edits above edits an edited version of an already edited show) seem sceneless, wihtout sence, dumb even.

oh and Graveyard.

Lets get this stright, crystal clear, if they aired it exactly as it was shown on Toonami/YTV half a year ago, this wouldnt' be an issue.,
They are not, they are editing things for something that is airing at the same time as FMA and Wolf's Rain aired Uncut, I'm not asking for the uncut, I'm askign for the US edit, not this crapheap that Jetix call an edit.

And, and I've said this before, I had the Uncut on pre-order from the start of this month.
 
Lol judging from episode 2, it seems they want to cut out weapons and pervertedness. God help them when the Zabuza arc comes (bigass sword slashing and Sasuke's shadow windmill, not to mention Haku's ice needles) and Jiraiya is introduced.

Ep 2 edits compared to the already editted US version:

- Surprise surprise, Jetix's freeze frame camera has broken because you can see the images shacking now.

- The Hokage's pipe edited when he's talking to Naruto about his photo.

- The camara panning up the Sexy Jutsu image has been made so fast you cant see anything.

- The Scene where the Hokage gets effected has been changed to him facing Naruto sitting on his chair?

- The entire scene where the Hokage is lying on the floor has been cut,

- The scene where the Hokage has a tissue near his nose has been changed to a pan up of his face.

- A mirror image of Naruto is stupidly added in for no reason?

- Another mirror image of Konohamaru charging at the Hokage is added in aswell?

- The sound effect of Naruto's punch hitting Konohamaru has been silenced.

- A awful jumpy freeze frame is added about the Hokage worrying that Naruto will teach Konohamaru bad things.

- The scene where Naruto and Konohamaru see two girls in Bikini's inside the magazine has been cut.

- Konohamaru's 2nd Sexy Jutsu pose has been freeze framed to the top half only, no panning up at all.

- More freeze frames of the Hokage's face are used from early clips of this episode when he's talking about Naurto.

- When Konohamaru posed at Ebisu the panning up of the Sexy Jutsu pose has been cut.

- The backside of Konohamaru's Sexy Jutsu pose has been shortened.

- The real surprise is that when Naruto did his Sexy Jutsu post, it's been put into 8 different tiny squares of 8 different poses?

- The scene where all of the Sexy Jutsu clones gather around Ebisu has been cut.

- 3 frames of Naruto, Konohamaru, and the Hokage have been added together.

- A few frames of Ebisu hitting the ground has been shortened.

- The Hokage's pipe and frames have been changed from an earlier clip.

- The outro credits now change the Hokage with the pipe image into Naruto posing for his passport photo???

- The shot of Konohamaru lifting up the Shuriken was cut. All you see is a frozen image of him in shadow and you hear the "Ding!" of the shuriken, but no actual weapon being seen.

Whats with the graveyard slot. It also on 5pm as well. Hardly gonna kill of naruto easily. Well,its another chance to make anime more serious here. Its one of the biggest anime since dragonball z, since evryone talked about dragonball z in primary school, and i enjoyed it. Now, since the dragonball z fad is gone, Anime shaped up since then. It become more serious, more dvds are released and its become more known.

If naruto becomes sucessful, and god hope it does. Our anime dreams will come true, and it will be thanks to Jetix and Rapture TV.

But i won't be able to watch naruto on 8:00pm on monday and Friday, I watch eastenders then, and that rocks.

And anyway, naruto looks a bit stupid. but,i hope it become sucessful.

Apparently it's not on at 5 and is just listed at 5.

Has anybody actually sent a polite email to Jetix yet asking why it's listed as being on at 5 but isn't and possibly why they chose to show a further edited version of the show(though I think I know why anyway).

To anybody who does decide to email them, don't go off swearing and insulting them because your email with most likely just be deleted. Be polite and don't demand stupid things like they pull it off the air or that they show a less edited version. Just ask politely why. You might get a response that can be posted up here.

Personally I do'nt see a problem with it being edited as long as it's popular but if it keeps being listed at 5pm and isn't shown at time then that could create problems with a possible fanbase(not bothering to tune in at 8pm because that shedule info may be wrong as well).

You mean, the listing is wrong. What the hell, that is gonna create problems. Well, they will change the problem soon. Problem like these are sorted as easy as pie. Well, the anime of jetix is shaman king as always, that rules.

Well Pokemon did have all the merchandise(specifically the card game) sold just about everywhere imaginable. I don't think i've seen any Naruto merch anywhere except some specialist shops.

For the record, this is why I haven't e-mailed them, it would be a swear fest.
