Defective or Disappointing UK Anime Discs

Then why does the US release boot to the Hanabee logo when run in a zone B player unless they're still sharing stock (the same goes for the OVA collection).
Maybe it could be something as simple as Sentai printing discs with BBFC logos on them. The disc is already region AB, it just comes down to how it's printed.

But it'll still have the same faults as it would be using the same masters (and considering Australian distributors (as I mentioned before) are using the BD version of a series to create PAL DVD masters the faults that are only on the BD release in the US is creeping into the UK DVD release like what happened with Another and K-On!! season 2 part 1 as they had (as far as I know since I reported the fault on the latter of the two) faults that only affected the BD release) so I thought that it would be better to inform everyone what would be coming if the faults on the sentai/hanabee release haven't been fixed (and even though it was only release yesterday (in Australia considering the time difference) they would likely have had the BD stock before that and the difference in time was possibly just them creating the DVD master for their release).

After the absolute failure that is the Kaze Bakuman release, I heard that Australia just had the first season released, does anyone know if the subtitles have been fixed/changed in that release?

Madman did confirm they handled the subtitles themselves.

Minor Defective - Night Raid 1931 ~ DVD

Anime Blu-ray UK:
..even the DVD Discs have a few flaws. For instance in some episodes the screen momentarily flickers while in other episodes the subtitles disappear momentarily, thus leaving you baffled at whats being said. Both instances happen very quickly and throughout the release but you do have to be paying attention to notice. Despite these ‘flaws’ the series does have a few unique features but these only appear in the Japanese audio track.

Episode 1 – 19:47, 25:49
Episode 4 – 19:24, 22:28
Episode 6 – 20:50
Bonus Episode – 19:02, 20:51
Episode 9 – 17:21, 22:27, 23:22

Just noticed some missing subtitles in the UK BD for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

Roughly 2 missing lines in total, same scene, 2 different instances.

Timing:

1. 1 Hour 12 Mins 12 - 15 Seconds
2. 1 Hour 12 Mins 22 - 26 Seconds

Surprised it's not been documented here.

Here's an interesting note to point out, the Viz Media release of Demon Capital is the Broadcast Edit version, not the Uncut Uncensored version that home releases get in Japan.

Another thing that should be mentioned: These DVDs are the censored TV broadcast version instead of the uncensored Japanese home video version. The scene with Awashima in the hot springs is edited out, whereas in the Japanese release the nudity is in tact.

Why Viz chose to use the broadcast version for their home release is unknown, but this is strikingly similar to FUNimation's Sankarea release which suffered from many of the same issues.

I presume this is the same for Kaze's release.

Well, that explains why the US BDs are 1080i if it's sourced from the HDTV masters. I'll assume this is what also happened with Lagrange S1.
I think it would be a bit forward to assume that Kaze's release is the same as Viz's. We know how radically different their releases of the same title are.

Actually i have watched the BD for the first time 2 weeks ago and notice that too. A few lines missing, I guess it were those.

Minor issues with Durarara!! on Blu-ray:
- There's no Signs only track because it wasn't possible according to Andrew, but they aren't locked so it can be toggled on/off (plus a majority of the on-screen text is spoken out load). This issue is the same for the Aniplex release.
- The opening songs are the wrong way round, like Perfect Blue had with its audio.
- Since it's using the Siren Visual masters, Discs 3 & 4 have kept the Part 2 Disc 1 & Part 2 Disc 2 on the menu.

Disappointing, but not really Anime Limited's fault. They did try their best to get a signs track, but to no avail.

Doesn't the disc art have to be reprinted in the UK as the BBFC rating logo has to be applied. Couldn't AL have changed it then.

If I'm being honest we're disappointed too by this - but it's not our project to QC so we didn't have much input in - nothing disastrous but still somewhat irked on my part by it (not holding it against Siren though as we know what it's like - more generally irked).

Re Disc labelling - it's worth noting it is only the actual disc menus with that + the hard-code, our print labels say the correct disc #s. Downside of using someone else's master again - something not super common with us!

Best,

Andrew

I am ok with those minor situations, and the lack of subtitle in english track its ok too cause i only see anime with jap dub. Even though it might miss a few lines in the jap dub in those mobile screen and chat parts, i am ok with that. As long as it has the Blu-ray looks good and the subtitles are ok in overall, i am more than happy to have this collectors edition. :)

Don't worry about it, Andrew, it looks fanastic and I can't wait to get mine.

Are the issues affecting the Blu-ray likely to also be replicated on the DVD release for Durarara (i'm assuming Siren's DVD release is covered somewhere)?

Now I'm getting a little concerned about the up and coming Gurren Lagann release. That's four Anime Limited Blu-ray releases in a row that have issues. OK, Durarara isn't AL fault but Sirens, but still, it's got issues.

Bebop had video glitches.
Garden of Words has no signs/song track.
Perfect Blue had subtitle issues, audio the wrong way round and had DD 2.0 rather than LPCM like stated in the menu.

Now Durarara has issues.
