UK Anime Distributor Crunchyroll/Funimation/Manga UK Discussion Thread

Not sure if they'll rerelease it here as it appears to have gotten a recent print run here with the updated BBFC logo. It also seems to be delisted on AoL.
Wasn't the SE released after the BBFC logo update?

Well, if Crunchyroll licensing it means that seasons 2 and 3 get Blu-ray releases on this side of the ocean, I don't mind. On the other hand, the worst case scenario would be Crunchyroll picking up the license for S1 and then not doing anything with the series in the UK.

I thought the update was the following year but it seems I'm mistaken.

Also of note is that this release from Crunchyroll has an English dub.

As per the pack shots the discs are AB, while this could just be for the Aus market the current AL version appears to be going OOP.

MCM-London exclusive - Chainsaw Man Limited Deluxe Blu ray and Vinyl Set for £139.99

It will contain the following: a 144-page booklet, including storyboards, sketches and artists' comments; a lenticular art card; six bookplates; the 12-part series on two Blu-Ray discs in a SteelBook; two 12” LPs, and a certificate of authenticity.

Crunchyroll's "new" Dragon Ball Z Complete blu-ray sets seem to have appeared for pre-order at various retailers.

The listing details suggest the aspect ratio is 16:9, so it's very likely to be the same chopped up and zoomed in mess from previous releases.

I'd advise anyone interested in owning the series physically to pick up Manga UK's 4:3 release while you still can.

Was able to get the HMV exclusive version of The Boy and the Heron in Dublin. While I was there I finally got a legitimate reason why they aren't selling much anime.

It seems none of the distributors have bothered getting their releases IFCO rated, which is required for legal sale in Ireland.

Crunchyroll only get their movie releases rated as it's required for the cinema run.

Press release went out for January 2025, couple of surprises in here

January 6th

Frieren Season 1 Part 1
(BD & DVD)

January 13th

Banished From the Heroes Party... Season 2
Darling in the Franxx: Complete
Sound! Euphonium Season 1
The Kingdom of Ruin
Villainess Lvl 99

January 20th

Demon Slayer: The Swordsmith Arc
Kaguya-sama: Love is War -The First Kiss that Never Ends-
(BD & DVD)
To Your Eternity Season 1

January 27th

Dr Stone - Season 3 Part 2
(BD & DVD)

Kaguya-sama is a bit of a surprise, lets say. Be nice if it was an excuse for the seasons too (including a more complete season 1) but not thinking thats likely. To Your Eternity is also good, heard the Viz release is, well... a Viz release.

Oh really? I picked up AL's release in a sale a while back and haven't got round to watching it yet. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but what's wrong with it?

The gamma is off on the transfer, brightness blown out and with a little too much digital banding.

Also the subtitling sucks; it's one of the shows that can't do dialogue and screen captions translations at the same time, and there is a whole lot of screen text, character names and band roles, that pass by without being translated. That's pretty important on Sound Eupho.

Huh, I didn't notice any of that. I may get the new release anyway, just to have a backup copy. Not something I'd do for most shows, but Eupho is Eupho.

I just had a quick look at the AL Blu-ray and the Crunchyroll version on their streaming platform, and yeah I see what you mean about the increased brightness on AL's Blu - although, not sure if that's just a result of streaming versus Blu-ray.

If the subtitles are a bit naff though... I'll have to watch it all the way through and see if it's worth trying the CR Blu-ray when it comes out.

The CR bluray has a new English dub too if that is your preferred way of watching.

Oh, wow, surprised to see Sound! Euphonium and Kaguya-sama.

Like others have said hopefully we'll get the rest of Kaguya and hopefully Sound! Euphonium as well.

Like with Demon Slayer I do prefer the AoA sets but considering I don't own any of Kaguya yet unlike Demon Slayer I may just go for the standard UK release.

I assumed AL would release To Your Eternity seeing as it's a Viz release but considering 86 was Viz in the U.S. and Crunchyroll over here, maybe it should had been expected.

I assume Crunchyroll UK will release Tokyo Revengers as well then with Viz handling the U.S. release.

So does no AOT LE mean they are skipping the UK at the very last season for a LE release?
its been listed on the press release, I would assume it will appear when the december lineup is up with retailers. For some reason the article just says "Limited" for any LE across it.
