Also off topic but I'm a bit confused is Beez Andrew the same guy and Kaze Andrew, or are you just a bit of a playa Andrew? Or is Andrew the standard stock name for anime distributors employees to use on forums?

Hahaha :)

He was the Beez version until he started working for Kaze, but he puts on his Beez hat from time to time to give us updates still from that side of the fence. Either that or he has cloned himself just to give us news about anime, which would be sort of awesome.

Same person - just different accounts - keeps things clearer etc I thought - sorry!

Andrew (Really the same one as kzandrew).
(Yeah, you musn't let the mortals know that you cloned yourself)

It's crazy how many companies that one Sony fire has damaged. There are talks of the riots coming to Cambridge tonight...urgh >>

So we're clear, it's only Beez that is effected by this?

Beez (and Sony) are the only anime distributers.

In total, a couple hundred film and music labels have had their stock incinerated though. If you're a fan of Asian live action cinema for instance, the fire also affected labels like Third Window Films, Cine Asia, Arrow, Terracotta.

It's a kick in the nuts for the little guy, the Indies.

As if this national situation wasn't bad enough...I'm glad no staff were hurt though.

I wish Beez the same swift recovery I wish all innocents (individuals or businesses) who have been caught up in this disaster. Is there anything fans can do beyond offering words of support?

:( Very sad news to read, hopefully the medium term effects can be negated somehow.

Ahahahaha, best explanation for it yet.

i say we should take to the streets with a banner saying
no violence and no riots
you put england to shame
something like that
i say as a community we should help the law to stop these riots

I guess buying any Beez things you had your eyes on would probably be the best way of doing it.

Course, that would only work as far as stock held out.

We've run a brief piece on toonzone, with credit to Anime UK- http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/3 ... ndon-fires

I've been up all night watching News 24, so I need something cleared up- is this the same Sony building that was being discussed from the early hours of this morning? The one where apparently 20 or so looters grabbed PS3s and TVs then torched the place?
Yes it's the Sony DADC/ PIAS wearhouse.

This whole thing is just a national embarrassment. I hope everybody on here in the affected areas has managed to stay safe.

As JPT said, basically all the small indie companies (not just anime) have been hit. There's an interesting article here : http://www.bleedingcool.com/2011/08...vd-and-blu-ray-in-the-uk-with-a-click-or-two/ pointing out that by downloading/renting titles from these companies they are getting money, so you can help them rebuild in some small way. it doesn't list anime companies specifically, but the same deal applies- now might be a good time to subscribe to AOD for example.

It's worth pointing out that even if you watch a free (ad supported) streamed show from a UK distro, they get something for it, so you can even help without opening your wallet.

Apparently the riots tried to kick off in Cambridge, but many people (including my Mum) phoned the station earlier that day after hearing reports of it potentially kicking off; so the police were able to kick ass down here.

Saddly no it doesn't, only Manga have digital distro here, all the rest is done by the Japanese or US companies, not UK ones.
The only way to suport Beez or MVM is to buy their dvds.

thats a go idea but sadly beez and mvm hasn't got a very wide range in england
the only mvm release is-
battle vixens 2
Anime Legends: s-CRY-ed
Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit Complete Series
(Re-Release) Blade Of The Immortal: Collection
(Re-Release) Disgaea Collection
(Re-Release) Starship Operators Collection
(Re-Release) Blade Of The Immortal: Collection
Tsukihme Lunar Legend: Complete Series
and beez has -
the girl that leapt though space
Anime Legends: Planetes Complete Series
Anime Legends: Gurren Lagann Complete Series
Sound Of The Sky (So Ra No Wo to)
all the beez dvd are gone and most of the mvm stuff is rerelease stuff that most of us have.
only thing we can do to support them is buy them from the US ( those who have a all region dvd player)

Noo buying from the US won't help Beez directly!

I think the best thing is to buy all the stuff you want so there's an increase in demand in the supply chain, then if they manage to get stock in circulation again soon at least there's a market for it. Otherwise I guess the only people who can tell us how to be helpful are Beez themselves :s
