AWESOME!!! mORE ANIME!!!!!!

Elfen Lied rocks but...How can I watch it without my parents walking around. (Sky is in the living room. and its the only place I can watch it).
Well it is rated 15. Have you ever explained that anime is not just for kids? Would they be upset on moral and ethical, or religious grounds? If not, invite them to watch it with you, if you are at least 15 that is.

I'm 17 =D
I watched the last ep of Excel Saga and nobody saw the scenes with nudity (well the scenes with partial nudity i mean). I used to avoid watching anime in the living room for the very same reason.(Depends what anime) but I watch anime there now.

Well. I dunno if I can convince my parents. I'm sure I mentioned about it before. (They don't care about the anime stuff etc etc but they barely know a thing). actually. I'll wait and see what there responses are when they find out. (Its okay if my other family member watches 18 stuff. Come on!).
My other family members DONT Believe me XD I'd love it if they were gob smacked if they saw Elfen Lied.

I missed this weeks cause I forgot what date its on. I seen episode 1 soo...Phew.

Sky rocks. I'm gonna book elfen lied. Wish me luck!
(No really. It's like a deathmatch and I hate it when the tvs used. I book it and remind them XDD).

EDIT : What time does Elfen Lied air? It dosent say on sky.

9.30pm on Sundays.

Anime on tv in general is a good thing, it's just a shame that this segment can't have more of a veriety in genre. I'm aware there wouldn't be enough of a market for shoujo, but i think i would have liked a bit more of veriety in themes.
Coyote Ragtime looks like it might be a fairly action-packed series, though theres a few too many girls at this stage for my liking.
I didn't think i would be at all interested in Guyver, but strangely i think that was the episode that interested me the most.
I had hopes for Elfen Lied. I liked the Klimt opening and ending videos (though i don't have a clue how they relate to the anime), but i wasn't impressed by the first episode. I knew it was going to be violent, but it was just extreme, how can you possibly empathise with a character when they do something like that. I think that whole scene was just an excuse to have her walk around naked for 10 minutes :? .
I shall continue watching to give all these shows a good chance, and to do my part in the ratings, but i still currently believe that Gilgamesh is the best anime on tv at the moment

Okay, here are my views for the Anime on Anime Network...

Cayote Ragtime - Very decent anime and the best out of the bunch in my opinion. The 1st episode was great, but the downside is Chelsea's voice, which is irratating. I like Mister, though.

Evangellion (I can't be bothered putting the whole name in) - Too Mecha for my liking, and I hate Mecha. Plus the main characters voice is so annoying.

Guyver - Okay, haven't really got a big opinion on it. Just not my kind of anime.

Elfen Lied - Okay, whoever enjoys watching that, you got a disturbing mind. The gore was a bit too much, and too much Nudity ¬¬. I'm staying away from the anime as far as I can.

I thought Elfen Lied was kinda standard as far as gore goes, at;east it didn't shock me the first time I saw it. Anyway if you can get past that it's actually a pretty good story that i'm sure in some ways people could relate to.

Well the whole story of Elfen Lied gets more interesting after the first episode, when you see the heartless monster that is Lucy develop and the backstory into why she became that way. As Dave said if you look past the initial gore it is actually a very interesting story, but again if you judge a whole show by the first episode then really why bother?

I was the same, I've seen far worse, it's really nothing, plus it's animated so it doesn't have the realism of... real life.

goodness if people are getting this bad on episode 1 of the series i'm gonna love the responce during the incest rape schenes

The fact it's animated is what makes it so shocking; lets not forget, in the West, cartoons are supposed to be innocent, sweet and optimistic. Elfen Lied is none of the above, and along with an almost pornographic sense of exploitation, it features pedophilia, extreme cruelty and bullying and violence aimed at and perpetrated by children.

To otaku weened on this kind of stuff, Elfen Lied isn't especially shocking, but when you break it down, it's a fairly disturbing series animated by a hentai company.

I find being called an Otaku insulting! Animated or not it's pretty goofy violence given the sound effects that were with it. When I first saw the first episode it was dubbed and I thought ADV put them in because they thought it sounded better (like they did in EVA) but turns out in was in both versions. Go figure, might have been a effort to tone it down a notch.

Hard Candy, now that was actually rather shocking.

I missed last week's airing but thhese I might watch or not be interested.

Cayote Ragtime - Since this one's 1st. I may watch it and I'll say if it interests me. I like some action here and there...

Neon Genesis Evangelion - THIS ANIME??? Sheesh. This one's a maybe.

Guyver - This sounds boring...But I might watch it

Elfen Lied - I watched ep 1 before and I wanna watch this but...(I have watched this anime before but I don't own all the dvd's)I'm nervous bacause (read my other post and you'll know).

The need to show girly anime too. these are kinda mostly for the males (depends what taste you have), It's kinda sexist?
WE ALL need a better range but least more anime's coming on TV ^^
I dunno If I can hog the 2 hours but can sky make the programmes seperate instead of 1 big block? It's less annoying so I won't watch them all. Who agrees?

I've mentioned this before, I think if SKY actually pay attention to it they could do the same as what they do with [adult swim],

eg. 01:15 [adult swim] - Aqua Teen Hunger Force

except it would be

eg. 21:30 Anime Network - Elfen Lied

Cayote Ragtime - I enjoyed it. The dub was great but the girl sounded a bit mature. One of the best anime selection there.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Horrible dub. It was okay-ish... a bit boring. The penguin scene was amusing though.

Guyver - This one was boring.

Elfen Lied - I watched episode 2 for the 1st time (I mistakened ep 3 as ep 2 one time cause I watched that.). I didn't get caught. However. It's one of my lucky nights. Yes. I watched various episodes of Elfen Lied and I DO like the anime. I have a strange taste. Yuka's voice is irritating as her character.

I notice the precenters pronounce "Evangelion" differently. 1 says it one way and the other one says the other way XD

=D

I noticed that as well, they both say it differently than the way the dub says it as well.

And also; this is very disgusting of me, I have always Pronounced 'Lied' as in 'You Lied, You Liar', instead of 'Leed' or something, can't remember what they said, I haven't watched this weeks as of yet.

Actually the way you pronounce it in German is closer to 'lite'. Elfen Lied is after all German for Elf Song.

Cayote Ragtime and Elfen Lied i'm finding to be quite good so far.

Evangelion i've seen a fair few times and love it to bits - even though i'm convinced they only gave it filler episodes and 'that' ending due to running out of money. 8)

You're not kidding, I fell asleep during the first half and woke up after Elfen Lied had already started, I was well annoyed. :x

-edit-

Oh and still no sign subs. *sigh*

Precisely, although it should be pronounced 'leete' not 'lite'. The title is german so you follow the german rules of pronounciation which state that 'ie' is pronounced as a long e and that the 'd' should be pronounced like the 't' in 'lite'

I checked the Digiguide there it appears after week 13 it won't be on Propellor TV. Either it has been canned or it is moving to another channel maybe it's own channel.

So far as I am aware it was always planned as a thirteen week long slot. ADV may negotiate another slot with propeller or elsewhere depending upon the perceived success of this venture.
